Eagan is a city on the rise, currently at about 12,000 people. Eagan has a number of ponds and outdoor rinks that locals have been skating on for years and now have a state of the art arena to call home. The Oaks will play their home games at the 1,500 seat Eagan Civic Arena.

They will be called the "Oaks" referring to the cities symbol. Eagan has a vast amount of Oak trees, even adopting Oak trees as the city logo down the line. Their logo is an O for Oaks with an Oak tree inside in the team colors of green and white.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Lakeville is a small town right now, sitting at about 8,000 people, but they are growing at a rapid pace. As the cities name would suggest, Lakeville has a number of frozen lakes and ponds during the winter. They will play their home games outdoors on Lake Marion.

The team will be called the "Admirals" playing off the cities name. Their logo is a roundel with 5 stars inside, the symbol of a navy admiral, their jersey striping also reflects this. Their colors are navy and gold.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

On to a team very near and dear to me, coming from my hometown.

Rosemount is a small farming community, but it is home to one of the only high schools in the area. With a population of under 2,000 Rosemount will have their work cut out for them playing against these bigger cities. The Wolfhounds will play outdoors on Schwarz Pond.

They will be called the "Wolfhounds" named after the Irish Wolfhound, a breed of dog. The name comes from the towns long Irish history and heritage. Their logo is an aggressive Wolf Hound in the team colors of green, orange, and white; the colors of the Irish flag. They use a shamrock in a circle on their shoulders as a secondary logo. Rosemount is also the first team in the MAHL to have a mascot, using a real life Irish Wolfhound named "Conry".

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Our final expansion team of the 1971/72 offseason comes from Shakopee (shock-uh-pee). Shakopee is a town of around 8,000 in Scott County. The Six will play their home games outdoors at Canterbury Park.

They will be called the "Six" referencing the cities long Native American history. Shakopee is named after Chief Shakopee who was in charge of the village that Early Europeans referred to as the "Village of the Six" and when he passed his son took over and was called Shakpedan which means Little Six. Their logo is a 6 with a stylized S inside, and their colors are burgundy, black, and blue.

That concludes the Class of 72!

Let me know what you think, comments are appreciated!

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Really nice work on this set of logos! I think yellow jacket logos are hard to pull off well but you did it nicely here. The Six logo is quite clever. I dig that color scheme as well. Your wolfhound has a real wild feel to it, nicely done. I wouldn't wanna mess with that canine!
