Re: The AltHL Season 2024

Welcome everyone to the start of the 5th AltHL Season!

One element that we had voted on during the offseason was the addition of minor league players. With that said, the mechanics of implementing that has been wonkier than expected. Therefore we are going to make some moves to ensure that this season is not bothered in any way.

1. A MINOR PAUSE We are going to push the roll out of the Minors until next year - at that point we will have the bugs worked out. Before we decide to go down that road we will have another vote to engage the voice of all owners.

2. WHAT'S NEXT? Not many people have added minor league players so far...so this transition will not be difficult. We will be eliminating the minor league spots on Fantrax. I will be adding two roster spots to everyone's rosters so that teams who leveraged draft capital this year can keep 2 minor leaguers if they would like to. There are not many teams who have more than 2 minor leaguers at this time so this should be minimally invasive. Other teams can use those spots to add waiver wire players - you're welcome.  If you would like to move minor league players to one of those two spots please email Gritty at althockeyleague2020@gmail.com by Sunday, October 13. At that point I will add the roster spots and move those minor league players to their correct spots.

Once again sorry for the way that this rolled out - we had some Fantrax issues that knocked us off of our desired plan. If you have any questions let me know! Have a great season everyone.

ALSO if you are interested in submitting designs for this year's events we are accepting them now. We are having our All Star game in Alaska and our Legacy Classic in Halifax this year. Submissions will be due next Wednesday, October 16.

Re: The AltHL Season 2024

It really is a new season. Edmonton went into Sunday against Halifax with a lead, and didn't blow it! Despite the Kingfishers finishing as the second-highest-scoring team on the week, the Wildcats finished as the first-highest-scoring team and came out with the W. It's a small sample size, but this team looks pretty good. The road doesn't get any easier, though, as the next team coming to northern Alberta was the third-highest-scoring team this week, as the Toronto Terriers visit the Hard Hat. Waiting to greet them will be star C Jack Eichel, who scored once, but shared the puck a lot, racking up six assists, and came through on defense with three blocks. #WhatTeam #ClawsUp

Re: The AltHL Season 2024

Happy Monday everyone! Good first week of the Regular Season. As you know we are doing away with Minor League players for this year. I have moved requested players to their NHL- Rosters. I am NOT able to take players off of your team. If you still have minor leaguers on your roster please drop them ASAP. Once all teams are compliant I will take away that option on Fantrax. Thanks for your understanding!

Re: The AltHL Season 2024

Following a big win on the road against the Racers, we head back to Milwaukee for our home opener. It'll be a challenge, as we welcome the defending champion Montreal Chevaliers to Manpower Arena. We got production all throughout our lineup last week, but none more than defensemen Kaiden Guhle. Guhles came up big on both ends of the ice, with 4 hits and 14 blocks to add onto his 3 assists and a +5 on the week. This week we'll be in the standard home set, with the gold jerseys. #ThePeoplesTeam

Re: The AltHL Season 2024

The defending AltHL Champions came to Milwaukee and had a close matchup with us, but at the end of the week, it was the 48ers with more points on the scoreboard as we move to 2-0, and would be the top seed if the playoffs started today. Alas, they do not, so we're going to have to keep scoring points and winning games. That means our annual trip to the Igloo in Anchorage to take on the Alaska Auroras. As we're on the road, we'll  be in the ivory roads, and are featuring our top player from last week, winger Artemi Panarin, who led the way for us with 4 goals, 4 assists, a +3 on the week and 4 power play points. #ThePeoplesTeam

Re: The AltHL Season 2024

Well, the Wildcats were able to finish off a close game in Week 1, but it was not to be in Week 2, as the Terriers eked by us with a 2-point win. Edmonton drops to 1-1 on the young season, but we feel like we're playing well so far. This week, we hit the road for the first time, as we visit the two-time defending champion Montréal Chevaliers. The Chevs, like the Cats, started off with a win before losing last week, so both teams will be hungry to get back above .500. Our first away game means our first time wearing our brand-new road jerseys, and the number featured on them is that of W Timo Meier, who racked up four assists, three blocks, and a team-high eight hits against Toronto. #WhatTeam #ClawsUp

Re: The AltHL Season 2024

TO ALL LEAGUE MEMBERS

It was brought to my attention that we had a team in the league with a player on their Minor League spots. Since that player was moved from their roster to the minors with no corresponding add, I have moved that player back to the teams' main roster.

With the "walking back of the minor league spots", they are not to be used. I attempted to remove them, and it broke the first two weeks of the season. As such, they will have to remain on our rosters, but if those spots are used, we will need to address it.

1) IF YOU HAVE A PLAYER IN YOUR MINOR LEAGUE SPOTS AT THE END OF ANY DAY DURING THE SCORING PERIOD, YOUR TEAM WILL BE ASSESSED A LOSS, REGARDLESS OF THE POINTS OUTCOME. I will be manually checking these every Sunday night/Monday morning. You are responsible for your own team.

2) ANY PLAYERS IN YOUR MINOR LEAGUE SPOTS FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON WILL BE INELIGIBLE TO BE KEPT. This is to ensure teams out of contention do not stockpile young players and accept those losses. If you chose to "camp" on those players and move them to your main roster at the end of the season, they will still be ineligible to be kept.

You may keep minor league players on your active roster/bench at any time as always.

Please do not abuse the league's inability to remove those spots.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter,
Deputy Commissioner Dan O'Mac
