Re: AltBA Design Thread

The Seattle Emeralds have officially hired Seattle Supersonics legend, Gary Payton as head coach.

The Emeralds are also pleased to announce their G-League affiliate: the Yakima Reds.

Yakima produces more Red Delicious apples than any other city in Washington, thus the inspiration of the Reds was born.

The uniforms are quite simple featuring "Reds" on both jerseys and classic trim striping.

When asked about the possibility of playing Baton Rouge, who is also named the Reds, owner Andy said: "Sign me up. If anyone should get involved with chaos, there's nobody better than the Reds and Revelers' owner Stickman."

Stadium updates will be coming soon.

The Philadelphia Gladiators are proud to announce Daniel Michael DeVito Jr. as the first coach in team history. Opting to go his own route, Danny has decided he doesn't want or need any assistants helping, so it'll be a one man show on the bench in Philly #WatchYourCaps

Re: AltBA Design Thread

The Minnesota Giants would like to proudly announce they will be calling the Ritchie Engineering Center home starting in 2021! After spending many years sharing The Twin Cities Ice Garden (called the TC Garden when the Giants play) with the Loons of the AltHL, the Giants will be calling this 18,548 seat arena in Roseville home! Nicknamed The Ritch, the main feature is the many Norse artifacts in the concourse and the life size statue of the Minnesota Giants own mascot,  Jötnar on the South entrance. The arena food includes of course the famous Juicy Lucy burgers, and a variety of other worldwide cuisines. Ritchie Engineering, manufacturer of HVAC and Refrigeration Tools based out of Bloomington hold the naming rights to the arena. And of course, the Skol clap is a time honored tradition in the building.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

From the moment of their inception until just recently, the Washington Warbirds had played in nearby Prince George's County, Maryland at L'Enfant Gardens.  The Gardens are named for Pierre Charles L'Enfant, the Black French-American engineer whose L'Enfant plan laid the basic groundwork for the nation's capital, and who died and was initially buried in PG County.  Seating 18,756 for basketball, the Gardens had the most state-of-the-art videoboard and sound system in the AltBA at its construction, useful for its equally-iconic status as the Capital District's primary concert venue, as well as its status as a backup venue for large-scale Presidential activities should inclement weather prevent them being held outside.

Despite the Gardens' historic value and serviceability, the Warbirds faithful wanted an arena in the District itself, not wanting to share a state with their bitter archrivals.  In addition, DC's booming music culture wanted to ensure they could go to their concerts in their own city rather than traveling ten miles all the way to Maryland (with the increasingly strong DC statehood movement, District pride is at an all-time high).  Sick of their "taxation without representation," the loyal DC residents remained hopeful that a private company would come through to help foot the bill.  Finally, that company came; an insurance company designed specifically for government employees, famous for promising savings in a mere quarter-hour and for every ad of theirs going viral, GEICO.

Beginning with the coming 2021-22 season, the GEICO Gardens serves as the Warbirds' new home, seating 23,000 and pioneering in every amenity the old L'Enfant Gardens had, only with every single modern technology there is, ensuring not only a LEED Platinum certification but also expected to be entirely carbon-neutral within its first five years.  The Gardens are a PARADISE for the adventuresome eater, as numerous options from all 175 nations to have an embassy in DC are served here (from Afghan Kaddu Buranee to Zimbabwean Sadza and everything in between), all going cashless for their payment plans (so all you need is your card and you can have your fill of that Malagasy ary sosoa!)

Through a combination of gratitude for Prince George's County serving as their first home, a desire to maintain a good presence in said county, and a desire to save money on rent, the Warbirds are renovating the L'Enfant Gardens, keeping them open as the home arena for their G-League team, the PG 13s.  "PG" is the most common name locals use for the County, and the "13s" honors America's original thirteen colonies, the Thirteenth Amendment's abolition of slavery, Dr. James Naismith's original thirteen rules of basketball and the thirteen members of DC's city council.  The Motion Picture Association of America, as usual, was unavailable for comment.

Finally, in a decision that has turned every head in the basketball world, the Warbirds have announced that DC native and former NBA journeyman Delonte West will serve as their head coach going into the 2021-22 season.  Despite struggling with bipolar disorder and going through more than his fair share of troubles before, during and after his NBA career, West is winning his battle with his demons, helping out at a rehab facility and doing motivational speaking tours nationwide.  In this, his first post-playing basketball job, West is ready to use his experiences to help those going through similar hard times-if he can overcome, so can you!

The Honolulu Kahunas have announced that their G-League affiliate will be an unconventional, but local one. The Hilo Volcanoes will play in the small city of Hilo on the big island, in the 1500-seat Hilo Sports Center. The name comes from the several large volcanoes on the island, including Mauna Loa, one of the largest volcanoes on the planet.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

Your Denver Mountaineers have their new coach for the 2021 AltBA season. Using the combined enterprises and intellect that the Einstein Brothers, Magic and BDoof, they were able to craft the most improbably, unbelievable, menacing, talented, one could even say monstrous coach to help their struggle franchise. His name, is Neo-Red Auerbach v9,001. See, Red was considered to instrumental in his coaching and thinking that similar to Walt Disney and Ted Williams his head was posthumously preserved deep underground in Orlando. Using their ninja skills and their remote controlled sock puppet bagels, they sneaked into the facility and took it by force. Coming out barely unscathed as the real-life Buzz Lightyear nearly captured them both. Once free, they took to the intellectual hive-mind that each Einstein bakery possesses, and were able to revive ol' Red Auerbach, however, they need to give him a body so they created the strongest, most durable, cybernetic body with a RTX 4080 (how they acquired this in this economy is beyond me). Thus, Neo-Red Auerbach v9,001 is now ready to lead your Denver Mountaineers... until he needs maintenance.

The Bagel Bros. hope that Neo-Red Auerbach v9,001 will be able to reproduce the results of the original; who won 9 NBA championships (including 8 in a row) as a coach and 7 more as an executive. He won nearly 1,000 games. He also helped pioneer the fast break as a viable and tactical option in the slower-paced basketball of the 40s, 50s, and 60s.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

The Philadelphia Gladiators have spent their entire existence at the historic Philadelphia Coliseum which some claim is the reason the team got the nickname "Gladiators" in the first place. The Coliseum seats over 19,000 and is known as one of the more intimidating places to play in the league with it's no frills look and feel.

The Gladiators also announced their affiliation with the Scranton Papersellers in the AltBA G League. The team decided on the name "Papersellers" as a poke at Philly's main rivals from Pittsburgh who decided to name their G League team the Papermakers. Of course, the name is also a reference to some little show you guys probably haven't heard of.
