My bet is on the Lakers.
Why you sure forget easily Scratch.
Now for some *serious* predictions
Warroad over Superior
The Lakers turn the tables on the Lakers in avoiding a repeat of 1971, as the Lakers sink the Lakers en route to the Lakers 2nd 'ship.
I feel more confident with my 100/100 odds this time around
How about you take the Lakers and I'll take the field?

YESSS indeed...Superior shocks the world once more...now we're ready to make some HISTORY!
Only the second double-digit seed to even make the Kellogg Cup Final, we're ready to be the first to win it as we take down Hockeytown and bring the Cup back to the Dub-Eye. It's gonna feel like Paul Bunyan's Axe is on the line here...hit it, band!
Who are we? THE LAKERS!
Who we gonna beat? THE LAKERS!
WI GOT THIS!!!

Go Lakers!

Gotta root for Superior here. If Burmy is correct and this is only the 2nd time a double digit seed has even made it to the finals, that's an underdog story I'd like to see!

Remember, you can't spell "win" without WI! Let's go Superior!

Both of these teams are the Lakers, but only one is Superior.

I got my money on the Lakers. I think they just outclass the Lakers in every meaning of the word. I expect it to be a dominant victory for the Lakers over the Lakers.

1981 Kellogg Cup Final
1st Period
WAR - 1
SUP - 0
The St. Paul Civic Center was buzzing as the Lakers took the ice to decide who is the champion of the MAHL. It was slow for the first few minutes with a number of stoppages, but Warroad was eventually able to get some sustained pressure that resulted in a rebound goal to put them up 1-0. Nelson made a few nice saves late to keep it to only one goal against in the first.
2nd Period
WAR - 1
SUP - 1
Warroad just couldn't stay out of the box in the second, marching into the box 5 times in the 20 minute period. It was only a matter of time before Superior was finally able to take advantage of the man advantage, beating the Warroad goalie five hole to tie the game at one apiece.
3rd Period
WAR - 1
SUP - 1
Warroad was much more restrained in the third, not wanting to risk giving Superior another man advantage. There wasn't a whole lot of action in the period, shots were low for both teams. The final horn sounded with the score still tied, next goal wins the Cup.
Overtime
WAR - 1
SUP - 2
The atmosphere was electric as the teams returned to the ice, the tension was palpable. Both sides were clearly playing cautiously early with the first shot not coming until nearly 5 minutes into OT. Then out of nowhere things opened up and it was run and gun hockey. Warroad intercepted a pass for a breakaway that was stuffed by the Superior netminder. Superior picked it up and went the other way on an odd man rush that was stopped and turned back the other way for Warroad which was broken up by the defenseman. It was firewagon hockey at its finest. The Superior defenseman lofted it out to center ice where a swooping winger was there to pick it up for a 2 on 1. The winger took it wide and shot low off the goalie, producing a rebound right to his teammate on the far side who was there to slap it home before flinging his stick high into the air above him in celebration. The Superior Lakers flung themselves over the boards, throwing their gear all over the ice in elation. For the first time in 32 years, the Superior Lakers are Kellogg Cup Champions!
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, the Tschida Trophy was awarded to Superior Laker goaltender Arthur Nelson for his impressive regular season capped off by one of the best playoff runs by any goalie in MAHL history. Nelson was the heart and soul of this Laker team these playoffs, allowing only 5 goals against in Superiors 6 playoff games, all of which had Superior as the underdog. This is only the second time a goalie has won the Tschida Trophy and is the first time a player from Superior has won the award. Nelson joins Cloquet's Brady Millen as the only players from the LSHL to win the award.
Let me know what you think, comments are appreciated!

Normally, I would give a long congratulations speech...but I am SO overjoyed right now that any words I say will fail to do justice to the absolute SPIRIT my Lakers showed all postseason, as underdogs in EVERY game they played...so I'll just play this. After all...
"When you say Wisconsin, you've said it all!
But now, it's time for This Year in Major Hockey for 1980-81!
NHL
Building off last season's success, your Minnesota North Stars returned to the playoffs for the second straight season, finishing with 87 points, tied with the Boston Bruins for second in the Adams Division, twelve points behind the Buffalo Sabres. In the playoffs, the North Stars won the de facto Prince of Wales Conference title, sweeping the Bruins 3-0 in the first round, the Sabres 4-1 in the quarterfinals, and the recently-relocated Calgary Flames 4-2 in the semifinals. Unfortunately, Lord Stanley's Cup was not in the cards, as the Stars were felled by the New York Islanders 4-1 for the former's second straight Cup win. Still, the North Stars impressed many a fan along their journey, with many saying their best days are still to come.
Your Winnipeg Jets were not so lucky, their struggles continuing from their inaugural season, only winning nine games all season and finishing with a league-worst 32 points, good for last place in the Smythe Division and 75 points behind the first-place St. Louis Blues. However, the Jets' on-ice woes have landed them some good draft picks, with them drafting Dave Babych second overall this past season and Dave Hawerchuk with the first overall pick for this coming season, so many believe that their fortunes will turn around very soon.
For the 1981-82 season, the NHL is realigning their division structure, keeping the conference and division names but adjusting for a better geographical fit. As such, both the North Stars and the Jets will be in the Norris Division and the Campbell Conference, with a strong rivalry set to ensue.
This has been This Year in Major Hockey for 1980-81...I'm Michael Burmy, bidding you all good night and joining you with eager anticipation at the season ahead, particularly at what the offseason has in store for us.

Congrats to Superior! What a magical run by Nelson to win it all.
