After a close loss in our first game, Atlético will hit the road and head to Athens for the first time in the modern era. AAO looked pretty solid in their loss to Munich, so we should be in for a good one as both teams try to pick up their first points of the campaign. We did get some solid contributions from some of our offseason transfers against Amsterdam; one of them was D James Tarkowski, who registered 4 clearances, 3 aerials, and 3 interceptions while keeping a clean sheet during his time on the pitch.

One goal from featured player James Tarkowski was enough, as Atlético comfortably beat Athinaikos to pick up our first win of the campaign. Our next fixture brings us back across the Mediterranean, where we'll host our first non-European opponent of the season in Sydney Harbour FC. Harbour looks like a strong team yet again, so we'll have a tough matchup on our hands. We don't want to feature Tark every week, so we'll turn to yet another member of our backline in D Dan Ballard. The Englishman registered 7 clearances and 5 aerials won en route to a clean sheet against AAO.

It was not a good match against our rivals and we start the year without a win. We'll have little time to reminisce what went wrong, as we have to travel to the Netherlands to take on Amsterdam, who are also looking to rebound after a tough loss to Roma. Featured for us is center back James Hill, who held the backfield together with three tackles (two won), seven clearances, and two interceptions against Eye of the Sun.
