My suggestion ended up a winner. Guess I won hearts for most Coloradoans out there.

It is time to welcome the newest teams of the AltHL! (read til the end for important information)
We begin in the Big Apple. The city that is so great that they named it twice. The Gargoyles are our champions with 87 points. They were followed by Emperors at 84. After that there was a big drop off. The Gargoyles was nominated by Section30.
Next are the Quebec Owls. The Owls was the runner up in the race for Minneapolis. But for Quebec City it made it over the top. The Owl is the official bird of Quebec. They won with 84 points. Followed by Harfangs (77) which also means 'Owls'. The preference for the community was apparent. Owls was suggested by Section30.
Out west we have the Sawblades. A blend of the lumberjack culture and the 'blades' of hockey. I think people like the uniqueness of the name. The 'Blades (78) were followed by Thorns, Stags and Bucks at (70). The Sawblades were nominated by ProsecutorMilesEdgeworth.
Finally we have the Glaciers from Vancouver. Glaciers won with 82 points followed by Evergreens at 76 and Bears at 70.
At the end of the naming process Section30 and Gritty were responsible for our team names each! Section30 gave us the Gargoyles, Owls, Seawolves, and Rovers. Gritty provided the Chevaliers, Terriers, Ghosts, and Glaciers. The city that won the CITY SELECTION round was New York with 86 points. The Boston Rovers were the winners of the NAMING round with 96 points! With that said we have our league!
The Eastern Conference
Boston Rovers
Philadelphia Founders
New York Gargoyles
Chicago Ghosts
Toronto Terriers
Montreal Chevaliers
Quebec Owls
Halifax Kingfishers
Western Conference
Seattle Seawolves

-Remember that the Groups A & B logo submissions are open now. Check the other thread for submission information.
-We will have the logo period and then the uniforms. Once the uniforms are set we will have the AltHL Owner Draft. We will get your AHS handle on the back of your team's sweater.
-If you didn't get a team name into the league do not fret. There may be a surprise coming up later tonight!

BREAKING NEWS!
Special Project #1 - The Minnesota Loons Dating Game
During the city selection round of the AltHL process many people noticed that Minnesota was a bit lonesome in the middle of the country. Their closest conference rival was Denver. The travel cost alone was cause for concern among the loyal Loonatic fanbase.
After the owner application process came to a close we had 18 interested owners. Since it seemed a tad silly to reject just two people, we are looking at it as an opportunity to right some wrongs from the City Selection Round. Therefore we will host two special week-long events to grow our league to 18 franchises. The first is The Minnesota Loons Dating Game. We are going to give the Loons a conference rival that is geographically closer. To do this we are going to run a mini-contest amongst the closest and most popular cities from Round 2.
Those cities are:
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Cleveland, Ohio
Detroit, Michigan
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Kansas City, Missouri
St. Louis, Missouri
Now you may notice that Cleveland, Detroit, and Milwaukee were in the “East” during our first go-around. But desperate times call for desperate measures. Since these two projects will work together we will wait until both are completed to find out which teams end up in which conferences. Don’t worry we have a plan!
Special Project #2 - The ‘Bring Hockey to the South’ Telethon
It was apparent during the city selection round that there was a chasm between Traditional Hockey Market Fans and Southern Hockey Fans. Ultimately the AltHL voting gravitated towards more traditional locations. The second special project is The ‘Bring Hockey to the South’ Telethon. We are going to bring hockey to the south. 1 franchise will be awarded to a team from the ‘sun belt’. Like the first project, we have pulled the most popular cities from the sun belt during Round 2.
Those cities are:
New Orleans, Louisiana
Phoenix, Arizona
Charlotte, North Carolina
Dallas, Texas
Houston, Texas
Atlanta, Georgia
Miami, Florida
This is how it will work! It’s going to go fast so make sure you pay attention.
1. Friday to Sunday Morning: Ranking the eligible cities. The two teams in each with the most points will move on to the next round. That means (4 total cities)
2. Sunday to Tuesday: Name nominations for the two remaining cities for each project.
3. Wednesday to Friday: Voting on the names for each of the cities. We will end up with one name for each project.
4. Saturday to Sunday: Battle Royale - four teams enter - two teams leave as the 17th and 18th member of the AltHL.

Hey Gritty, I have a potential idea to consider, if you think it could work. Why not just add a Central Conference? You could run it this way...
East
New York
Boston
Halifax
Montreal
Philadelphia
Quebec City
Central
Minnesota
Chicago
Toronto
Denver
Project 1 Winner
Project 2 Winner
West
San Francisco
Los Angeles
Seattle
Portland
Vancouver
Calgary
Makes sense geographically and it would be a unique way to run a league, though I'm fine with East/West if that's what everyone wants too.
Project 1
1. Detroit
2. Milwaukee
3. Cleveland
4. St. Louis
5. Kansas City
6. Winnipeg
Project 2
1. Dallas
2. Houston
3. Miami
4. Phoenix
5. Atlanta
6. Charlotte
7. New Orleans
