Elk River Hockey Club
The Elk River Hockey Club is based in Elk River, MN. Elk River is a city of about 1,500 and is the county seat of Sherburne County. Named by Zebulon Pike after he saw herds of elk in the area on his 1805 exploration, Elk River lay at the confluence of the Mississippi and Elk Rivers. The landscape is hilly and full of gravel after the last glacier tore through thousands of years ago, leaving a natural boundary between the prairie and woods which later served as the boundary between the Dakota and Ojibwe with multiple battles occurring in what is now Elk River. The city grew with the lumber industry as settlers from New England moved west for more work, later followed by Northern Europeans. Lumber was always king, but dairy farming and agriculture have become more important in recent years and helped the city continue to grow.
The club went with black as their primary color, adopting red and black stripes on the sleeves, shoulders, and socks. The city name sits inside a red container sewn on the front of the sweaters. Home games will be played at Orono Park which has seating for up to 250.

Heading to the West Metro Hockey Association we have our final three expansion clubs.
Bloomington Hockey Club
The Bloomington Hockey Club is based in Bloomington, MN. Bloomington is a city of about 1,200 on the north bank of the Minnesota River above its confluence with the Mississippi. A village called Titanka Tannina existed in what is now Bloomington. 'Titanka Tannina' is Dakota for 'the Old Village', leading some to believe it was the first Dakota community on the Minnesota River. Settlers arrived after the Treaty of Traverse des Sioux in 1851, forcing Dakota villages such as Titanka Tannina to be abandoned. The new settlers renamed the community “Bloomington”, taking the name from their hometown Bloomington, Illinois. The economy of the city revolves primarily around farming, blacksmithing, & flour milling with the community still holding onto its agricultural roots.
Their uniforms are white with thin blue stripes throughout as well as a thicker blue chest stripe containing an old english B for Bloomington. Their home games will be played at the 250 seat Penn Lake Rink.
