Following GEO Cup Game 3, here are the standings!
We're starting to get more separation but with 4 weeks of pool play left, anyone can win. The Global Series is all but decided, with the European teams winning the first three games, so the World would need to win the remaining 4 Global Series matchup or the GEO Cup final will be played in Europe. That starts this week in Brazil, as Rio de Janeiro hosts Atlético Barcelona and Eye of the Sun FC, as Atlético looks to lock things up for the European side while Eye looks to keep the World side alive.
As far as the pool play goes, the European side of things sees undefeated IFK Stockholm head to Italy to take on winless FC Alfa Roma, 1. VfV 1158 Munich travels to The Netherlands to take on the other winless European team of Amsterdam KVV, and current pool leaders Inter Istanbul travel to Paris to take on Olympique de Bastille.
On the World side, we start with a battle of the two Western Hemisphere teams as Club de Ragatas do Independencia travels to Mexico City to face CF Federal, pool leading Joburg City 94 is traveling to Seoul to take on Bukchon Hanok Stripes, and Sydney Harbour FC looks to keep pace with the leaders as they head to Japan to take on FC Tokyo Sakura.

It's Global Series week for Eye of the Sun FC, as the Falcons head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to face Atlético Barcelona. All the pressure for the entire World side is currently on us, as if we want the World team to host the GEO Cup final, the world needs to win out. On the other side of the pitch from is the Spanish club, Atlético Barcelona. Since it'll clash with both their kits, we're bringing our clash kit along for this one and feature star midfielder Bukayo Saka, who has been red hot of late, even if the rest of the team hasn't been. #TheGoldStandard

Well, that was fun. Atlético's best game of the season combined with Amsterdam's worst game of the season resulted in an absolute drubbing that moves us into third place in the European group. Up next, we head to not-Europe (more specifically, Rio de Janeiro) to face Eye of the Sun FC. Believe it or not, we actually have a chance to clinch the Global Series for Europe with a win over Eye, and if we can play anything like we did last week, we'll be well on our way. It was tough to pick just one player to put on the graphic this week - last week's featured player, D Malo Gusto, had a goal and an assist, while star F Hugo Ekitike scored twice in his return to the lineup - but ultimately, we went with the man with the most goal contributions: M Harry Wilson. The Welshman had a hand in three of Barcelona's four goals, scoring one and assisting on two more. #KeepClimbing

We got revenge for our earlier loss against Eye of the Sun by giving them a beating, and we retain the top spot of the World Group for another week. We hit the road this matchweek to take on Bukchon Hanok Stripes, who are coming off of a humiliating loss against Sydney and need to rebound to stay in contention. We have several players out either due to injury or participating in AFCON, so we'll have to make some adjustments to our starting 11, and part of that shakeup includes the impressive performance out of D Wesley Fofana. The Frenchman stepped up with our rotating backfield and earned 12 clearances, 3 blocked shots and had a clean sheet last match against Eye of the Sun.

Following Game 4 of the GEO Cup, here are the standings:
And with the current standings, if Joburg City 94 beats Sydney Harbour FC and Club de Ragatas do Independencia loses to Eye of the Sun FC, Joburg will claim the World division for GEO Cup.
Also, with Atlético Barcelona's win over Eye of the Sun FC, the European side has won the 4 necessary games and the winner of the European division will host the final of the GEO Cup!
Here are the Game 5 matchups:
Atlético Barcelona, at only 5-8 on the regular season, looks to keep pace with the top teams in the European division and get that guaranteed playoff spot with a matchup with Inter Istanbul. The Old Club is coming off a tough loss to Olympique de Bastille and don't want to fall farther back.
Speaking of Olympique de Bastille, they're also looking to stay near the top of the European group, and will be hosting Amsterdam KVV.
The final group matchup is a big one, as 1. VfV 1158 Munich heads to Sweden to take on IFK Stockholm. Stockholm is the only undefeated team on the European side, with Munich also at 1 loss.
On the world side, the important two were already talked about, as World Group leader Joburg City 94 heads to Australia to face Sydney Harbour FC. Sydney needs a win to keep their GEO Cup hopes alive, and Joburg needs a win to ensure 4 additional teams cannot win the Group.
The only team that cannot win the World Group is CF Federal with their three losses. However, they can end Bukchon Hanok Stripes diminishing hopes with a win at home this week.
Also in that two loss group is Eye of the Sun FC. They need to win this week to keep any hopes for winning the world group, but if Joburg wins, an Eye of the Sun FC win will give Joburg the World Group title. So Ragatas wants that win to ensure they can keep their hopes alive and potentially force a game 7 head-to-head showdown with Joburg.
And our Global Series will continue, even though the European side has claimed the Global Series win, by heading to Casablanca, Morocco for a matchup with FC Alfa Roma and FC Tokyo Sakura.

With a win over Eye of the Sun, Atlético has clinched the GEO Cup for the European Group. Apologies to the six clubs who now have completely meaningless games on their schedule. Now that we're back playing meaningful games, we've got one of our biggest games of the midseason break ahead, as we head to the Bosporus to play Inter Istanbul. They just dropped their game against Olympique, leaving us even with both teams looking to reach 9 points in Cup play. D Marcos Senesi has been hot lately, and finished our match against Eye with a whopping 12 clearances, 6 aerials, and he even had time to make 3 key passes. #KeepClimbing

Here are the standings for the GEO Cup following Game 5
Joburg City 94 has clinched the World side of the GEO Cup and are now looking to see who they face from the European side and therefore where they'll play them. There are four teams tied with only one loss, and they are all facing one of the other teams that have only one loss this week. With Barcelona at two losses, they are not yet mathematically eliminated.
This seems like a good time to go over tiebreakers for the GEO Cup. If it's a two team tie, then the tiebreaker will be head-to-head in the GEO Cup. If it's more than two teams, then it will go off points scored during the GEO Cup.
Our full slate of games for Game 6 of the GEO Cup is pretty exciting, especially on the European side. So naturally we'll start on the World side.
The World side is locked up, as Joburg City 94 is the only team undefeated in the GEO Cup, so the other 6 teams are playing for bragging rights only. That starts with Club de Ragatas do Independencia traveling to Seoul to take on Bukchon Hanok Stripes, CF Federal heading to Japan to face FC Tokyo Sakura, and Sydney Harbour FC journeying to Cairo to square off against Eye of the Sun FC.
The European side sees all 5 of the teams that could mathematically win the group playing GEO Cup games, as two loss Atlético Barcelona heads to Italy to take on FC Alfa Roma, one loss Olympique de Bastille going to Germany to face one loss 1. VfV 1158 Munich, and one loss Inter Istanbul flying to Sweden to take on one loss IFK Stockholm.
In the Global Series, we know Europe has the win, but it won't be a sweep as Tokyo knocked off Roma in Morocco last week. This week you see Amsterdam KVV, who is winless in the GEO Cup, and Joburg City 94, who is undefeated in the GEO Cup, travelling to Buenos Aires, Argentina to face off.

With our quest to win the GEO Cup extinguished, we'll play out the rest of the Cup at home against Sydney Harbour FC this week and CF Federal next week. With Sydney Harbour FC coming to The Pyramid this week, we look for a repeat of our matchup in the first half in Australia and get the win. With us being at home, we'll be in the main kits and are featuring forward Igor Jesus! #TheGoldStandard
