Re: The World Football League Lives!

So does Supernova own all the teams and league or just the league?

Right now Supernova owns all the teams and the league - think the modern UFL and how it's owned by Dwayne Johnson & Co. I haven't mentioned this in the story yet, but eventually the league will shift to a system like the MLS, where the league is a single entity, but teams are operated by individual investors.

PORTLAND, ORย - After a topsy-turvy season in the World Football League, the Portland Storm are back for 1975. Despite rumors of the team being replaced by the "Thunder", WFL commissioner Gary Davidson and overseer Alex Ryder confirmed today in a press conference at Civic Stadium that the team would be returning.ย

The Storm will keep wearing their jerseys from 1974, including their eye-catching bright green.ย
(Author's Note: If you noticed that the Storm logo on the helmet is upside-down compared to their normal one, good eye! That's actually how it was back then, too. I checked a lot - all the media guides have green on top in the logo, while every single helmet I've seen has blue on top. Weird, huh?)

The Storm will continue playing in Civic Stadium. On offense is FB Rufus Ferguson, a power back that can force his way through opponents. Meanwhile on defense, S Phil Borjas will look to lead Portland after playing as a punt returner in 1974.

Re: The World Football League Lives!

Based on regional affiliation, I'll have to root for the Storm, but dang, that identity needs some serious love. If they last, hopefully you'll be able to give them a true makeover.

The Vulcans look solid for the era. Memphis is a solid look too, I really dig their set actually, minus the socks. Philly has a classic look. Is the yellow outline on the numbers the same gold? Maybe my eyes are playing tricks. We've already personally discussed the absolute miss that Sonny Sixkiller is not number six. I like the brown a lot for the Hawaiians and hopefully you'll be able to do some fun stuff with them. For Florida, I've never been a fan of that logo. I like the red but the blue pants are... a lot. Hopefully they can simplify their look in the future. Yuh yuh, black and gold stingy bugs. Good look all around for Charlotte. Might lowkey root for them.

HOUSTON, TXย - The World Football League made a surprising announcement today when it confirmed that the Shreveport Steamer franchise would be returning to Houston as the Texans for the 1975 season. "We want to thank the fans in Shreveport and Louisiana for their support last season," remarked Alex Ryder, the WFL's owner and overseer. "As thanks, we'll be operating free bus shuttles from Shreveport to Houston so fans can continue supporting this team." The Texans, who ran into financial trouble last season, now have a stable footing provided by Ryder's Supernova Corporation.

The Texans will be outfitted in the same style as the 1974 season. Their green and gold will stand out on the field, as no other WFL team wears kelly green as their primary shirt color.ย

Houston will play WFL football in the Astrodome and the only team in the league to play indoors. Directing the Texans' offense is hometown hero QB Edd Hargett, who played one season with the NFL's Oilers before joining the World Football League as a member of the Hawaiians in 1974. Meanwhile, the player to watch on defense is newcomer CB Leon Jenkins, looking to make an impact on the WFL after a short career in the NFL.

Memphis is actually my favorite look from the original WFL. Something about the orange and brown really works for me. I can indeed confirm that Philly's gold is the same shade everywhere, I think it's the small outline playing tricks on you. I'm really excited to see what I can do with Honolulu - their jersey frustrates me the most out of the original WFL teams. The WFL's Hornets logo is one of my favorites of all time, it's gonna me really tough for me to make any changes to that team hahaha

Can't imagine many fans from Shreveport showing up in this scenario.

ANAHEIM, CAย - In a press conference today at Anaheim Stadium, the World Football League announced the return of the Southern California Sun for the 1975 season. The team made waves across the country last year for their magenta and orange uniforms, and they'll get another chance to run for the WFL's crown.ย

Naturally, the Sun will not be changing their uniforms. "The magenta and orange are iconic. In fact, I don't know if this team will ever change!" joked Alex Ryder, WFL owner and overseer.

The Sun will share Anaheim Stadium with the California Angels of the American League. Fans can watch former USC Trojan RB Anthony Davis and NFL veteran DB Rudy Holmes when the 1975 WFL season begins.

Most Would, Especially if you're offering free shuttles to Texans Home Games.ย  Others would rather have their own team like the Pirates

Re: The World Football League Lives!

CHICAGO, ILย - In the city that started it all, the World Football League announced the return of the Chicago Fire. Despite rumors that there was a new group in charge of the Chicago franchise attempting to lure Joe Namath from the NFL, WFL commissioner Gary Davidson told reporters that was not the case. The Fire continue the league's attempt to establish continuity, as only one franchise from the end of the 1974 season has been shifted so far.ย

Chicago fans will see one major change on the field this season, as the Fire's previous red helmets have been swapped for black ones. "This will let the fire icon stand out much more," explained WFL owner Alex Ryder. "It'll be instantly recognizable both at Soldier Field and the local grocers' gumball machines."

As Ryder said, the Fire will return to Soldier Field, which they share with the NFL's Bears. Team leaders include WR Jack Doblin, who caught 7 touchdowns last year, and S Harry Howard, who had 7 interceptions.
