Re: The AltHL - Group C Voting & Owner Application!

Stay tuned tomorrow as we unveil the 16 cities that will be apart of the AltHL.  There were some exciting races down the stretch for the final spots.  Tomorrow we will reveal the process that we will take to decide what we are going to call these teams.

Re: The AltHL - Group C Voting & Owner Application!

Here are the 16 inaugural AltHL city locations.  From this moment on we will build these teams from the ground up.  In the coming weeks we will give them colors, logos and uniforms. Then after the Owner Draft, owners will hire coaches, pick a farm team location and draft their fantasy rosters.   The voting was intense and entertaining to follow.  Minneapolis was leading the Western voting until the final day when both LA and Vancouver made big pushes to pass them.  New York was the juggernaut of this round with 86 total points. The real drama came at the bottom in the 8th spot. Kansas City made a big push at the end to take over the 8th spot in the West, but a sixth place vote on the final voter helped Portland take back the last spot for good.  In the East, Milwaukee was firmly in the Safe Zone until a huge comeback with two first place votes on the last day to make it in.   After the voting has settled, we have a good mix of cities.  We can look forward to great rivalries such as Seattle-Portland, San Francisco-LA, Vancouver-Calgary, and the Battle of Quebec, Montreal-Quebec.  We are a little underrepresented in the south and middle of the US. The four teams that were the closest to making it but missed the boat were Kansas City, Milwaukee, Winnipeg, and Detroit.   Tomorrow I will be posting the first four teams to nominate names for as well as the guidelines for how we are going to do it.

Even though the middle part of the map is indeed very empty, at least the rivalries are gonna be pretty intense!  I'm sure expansion will spread the teams out more in the future.

I will say that Minneapolis is set for a fairly brutal travel schedule though, they actually look that they'd have fit in the Eastern Conference more, lol!

Yes! Minnesota got it the worst.  It was good to see that all of the teams that just missed the cut were in the middle part of the map.  Winnipeg, KC, Milwaukee, and Detroit.  So when we expand if those teams are chosen we should be in good shape.

*sees KC didn’t make the cut* Ah, well. There’s next time.

Well, Charlotte might have missed the mark this time, but it seemed popular enough for me to believe it'll happen eventually.

Positive: Minnesota got a team (yay)

Negative: The closest team to them isn't even in their conference
