Re: Yorkland Hockey League

Congrats to Brooklynn. And welp, the Lions still suck, or at least can't get out of their own way in a mediocre division it appears.

Re: Yorkland Hockey League

2005 Pacino Cup Playoffs
Conference Semi-Finals

After missing the playoffs in 2004, Dawn Mills returns with a vengeance, sweeping the Generals. The Generals haven't been to the finals since 1998 and haven't won a title since 1993.

The other semi-final had Anchor City taking out Bentley in 5. The Sharks' quest for their first title is alive while the Stars run their playoff appearance streak to 14 years straight but haven't won a title since 1996.

In the East, the powerhouse Lakers return to playoff form, taking care of the Peach Kings in 5.

And in a playoff classic, the Cayuga Saints come back from 3-0 down to take out the dominant force that is the South Beach Seminoles, including back to back shut outs in Games 6 and 7. After the collapse, a ton of questions were raised on whether the Seminoles need to completely blow it up.

2005 Western Conference Finals
Dawn Mills Devil Rays vs. Anchor City Sharks
The Sharks quest for their first title is still alive as they take out the Devil Rays in 5 games. The Sharks offense was clicking on all cylinders in the series as they simply outscored their errors to reach the finals for the first time since 1995.

2005 Eastern Conference Finals
Cayuga Saints vs. Kelly City Lakers

After losing a blow out in Game 1, the Saints survived a triple overtime thriller in Game 2 to turn the tides. They would hold the Lakers to 4 goals over the next 3 games to take the series in 5.

Once again, the finals will produce a first time ever Pacino Cup Champion between Cayuga and Anchor City!

Remember when the Saints were called the 'aints in the 90s? Look at them now.

Re: Yorkland Hockey League

2005 Pacino Cup Finals
Cayuga Saints vs. Anchor City Sharks

After dropping Game 1 to the Sharks 6-1, the fans in Cayuga were concerned that their beloved Saints were going to fall short and break their hearts again. Things turned however on a rumoured locker room speech from starting goalie Steven Doyle who laid into his team and his own efforts and fired up the team. Reports state that Doyle "guaranteed to keep the Sharks off the scoreboard" if the team could just get 1. They got 5 though and Doyle got his guaranteed shut out to completely turn the tide.

The Saints would win the next 3 games to take the Cup in 5 and Doyle would give up just 1 GOAL in the final 4 games to have one of the most historic finals performances in league history.

The Sharks were crushed to fall short but their cinderalla run comes to an end. Sharks management will have a tough decision moving forward whether to believe this group can repeat what they just did or if major changes are going to be needed.

Re: Yorkland Hockey League

2006 Regular Season

With the league continuing to do well, there were no significant changes in the off-season.

The season opened up with Cayuga raising their first ever Pacino Cup Banner.

In the West, all roads will lead through Fort Theory, as the Generals take the division. Dawn Mills would finish second but would miss out on the playoffs despite putting up 109 points. In the Nevin Division, Bentley takes the division crown and extends their record playoff berth streak. Anchor City and Brooklynn also qualify for the playoffs which means the Generals will host the Blawkhawks and the Stars will host the Sharks in the opening round of the playoffs.

In the East, the Saints continue to be an absolute force and lead the league with 157 points. They finished ahead of Bayleigh who qualified for the playoffs in second place. The Railers and Crusaders continue to struggle. In the Little Division, the Lakers continue to be a dominant team and will enter the playoffs along with South Beach who are looking to get back to the finals. Mount Faith and Lake Hope miss the playoffs, and the Lions are officially in rebuild mode. The Lakers will host the Seminoles while the Saints will host the Peach Kings.

The 2006 Outdoor Clash took place on the ground of the Capital Building where the Braves hosted the Generals. The Braves wore the double silver to honour the Thunder from the AYF while the Generals brought back their X Jerseys.

Re: Yorkland Hockey League

2006 Pacino Cup Playoffs - Round 1

Fort Theory will advance to take on Bentley as they renew their rivalry from the early 90s. These 2 teams won 5 of the first 7 Pacino Cups but neither have won a title since 1996. One of them will have a chance to break that streak.

In the East, the two most dominant teams of the past few years meet in a dream semi-final as Cayuga looks to be the second team to go back to back, while Kelly City looks for their 2nd title in 4 years.

Re: Yorkland Hockey League

2006 Pacino Cup Playoffs - Conference Finals

After winning the opening round with 3 shutouts, the Stars go down in 5, being shut out twice themselves and only keeping the Generals under 7 once. It was a shocking outcome as the Generals dominate the Stars on the way to their first final since 98.

In the East, the dominant Saints continue to roll, taking out the Lakers in 5 and will now look to become the second team to go back to back. The Saints are the favourites in the finals, with both their scoring prowess and fantastic defense so far in the playoffs.

Re: Yorkland Hockey League

Cayuga Saints vs. Fort Theory Generals

There is a new dynasty in the YHL, and it's the Cayuga Saints. The Saints sweep the Generals to go back to back and become only the 2nd team in league history to do it. The Saints are officially THE powerhouse after their tumultuous history.
