Last night Portland had 5 players combined for 39 points. These same 5 players put together a performance that only offered the team 41 points throughout all of last week. Calgary, you absolutely caught the Blades with their pants around their ankles. Way to capitalize on it.

Skating is hard when your pants are around your ankles. It was a bold strategy, but one I wouldn't recommend employing again next season.

Portland was too worried about the gift baskets they had to give to the new players Calgary was signing to remember to pull up their pants to play.

why were they giving away gift baskets in the first place? That makes no sense, unless they're all Canadian....

I feel Portland has set an identity or established a general vibe throughout their existence with board posts, but I could see how that would be difficult to keep up with. I think making a pamphlet to summarize the organization for newcomers or the common reader would be fun, but could also take up a significant amount of time.
Here’s a little taste
Message from Portland’s “Sawblade Authoritative Welcome Team” (Also known as S.A.W. Team) to Denver Bighorns Representatives prior to a regular season game between Portland and Denver:
“Hellooooooooo Denver. Or welcome..... We will happily wear our “Oh Me So Thorny” jerseys against your tans this week. If we are in Portland we have gift bags set for any teams who make their way through. This week features a XR 20-Volt Max 7-1/4-in Brushless Cordless Circular Saw with Brake and Aluminum Shoe as well as a plush of our mascot saw-bone, signed by our mascot saw-bone for each player on the Horns who makes the trip. You know what they say “Hockey is friendship”.

AltHL Community!
Welcome to the 2021 AltHL expansion process. The Alt Sports Universe is growing once again. Due to the tremendous amount of interest in this community project we have decided to expand the AltHL. For this round of expansion we will be adding 6 new franchises. This expansion will grow our league to 24 teams. That is the same number as both the AltFL and AltBA. To accommodate these new teams we will ultimately be splitting the AltHL into two Fantrax Leagues. How we split those leagues will be up to the AltHL community. There is a plan to move forward for each of the following options. No matter what, at the end of the 2021 season we will end with one Alt Cup Champion. Please read through the options. The current AltHL owners will vote on the way that we will move forward. So...in honor of the our first ever Alt Cup this week, we wanted to start our AltHL Expansion process.
NEW OWNERS
We had a lot of people interested in being owners of an AltHL. Unfortunately we couldn't squeeze everyone in this time around. There will be more opportunities in the future so do not worry! For now, please welcome the following owners to the AltHL:
Dan O'Mac
KingsFan11
Osgiliath Guard
ItDoesntMatter
MagicalKittenz
DVDBubba27
We would also like to welcome DireBear who has accepted our invitation to be the new owner of the Chicago Ghosts.
-------
TIMELINE
By the end of the expansion process the six expansion owners will be in control one of our six brand new teams. This is the process that we will take to get to that point.
Step 1: Decide on the league alignment for the 2021 season (voted on by the current 17 owners).
Step 2 : Members from the AHS community will submit their ideal expansion cities.
Step 3 : Members from the AHS community will post their team name submissions for all six expansion teams.
Step 4 : Members are invited to submit designs for the logos for the first three (Group F) teams. The following week we will submit logos for Group G.
Step 5: The process repeats itself but for team uniforms.
Step 6 : The six expansion owners will be put into the Alt Sports Wheel of Fate to determine the expansion owner draft order.
Step 7 : The Expansion Owner Draft
------
LEAGUE ALIGNMENT OPTIONS
The current owners will decide on how they would like next year's experience to look. We will be splitting into two fantasy leagues to keep the rosters competitive. Please use the following poll to submit your favorite option. You will be asked to submit your AHS Handle so we can record each owner's individual vote.
Here are the options to choose from -
OPTION A: BRING BACK THE AHA and CHL!
-We return to our Legacy Project roots by splitting back up into our original two leagues.
-They would be two separate Fantrax Leagues. Teams would only play teams within their league.
-The top 8 teams would make the playoffs from each league. That is out of 12 teams. This increases our playoff participation meaning that more teams would be in contention for a bigger portion of the season.
-The Finals round will be extended to two weeks. After the first week we will eliminate the two teams that are behind and only focus on the scores of the top team in each league. At the end of the second week that team will be declared the Alt Cup Champion.
-Yes, there is a chance that there will be players on both teams in the finals.
-If we choose this option - 4 of the expansion teams will be Canadian while 2 will be from American markets.
-Expansion teams will start with blank rosters and will be given the top spots of the fantasy draft.
OPTION B : Eastern and Western Conference
-The same as above except we will split the teams into Eastern and Western Conferences.
-We will wait until after the cities are selected to decide which teams belong in which conference.
-Ideally, 3 expansion teams will go to the west and 3 will go to the east.
OPTION C: Premier League and Relegation
-The AltHL's 18 original franchises will continue to play in one league as they did for Season 1.
-The six expansion teams will make up a secondary league.
-The AltHL will be a true-keeper league while the secondary league will not be.
-The secondary league will be a fantasy league that will draft their roster from scratch every season.
-The top three teams from the secondary league will move up and replace the bottom three teams from the AltHL.
-The teams that move up to the AltHL will hold a mini 5-round expansion drat. They will choose from the players abandoned by the three relegated teams. This way they do not have to start their teams completely from scratch.
-The teams will draft in order of their finish in the secondary league. It will be a fixed order, so the champion will pick first in every round.
-This option enables the expansion teams to have more competitive seasons. It also adds drama to both the top and bottom of the AltHL.
-Future expansion teams will be added to the secondary league.
***It is important to remember that this is a keeper league.

CITY SELECTION
Tomorrow, after we get the results of the Alignment poll we will begin asking for submissions for our 6 new cities. This process will look slightly different so stay tuned.

If you have any questions please reach out to me.

As the (mostly absentee) owner of the San Francisco Dragons, I would like to propose a team trade if that is allowed...should Milwaukee be chosen as one of the expansion teams, I would be offering the Dragons for anyone who thinks they can turn them around, in exchange for the opportunity to run my hometown team.
