Re: AltBA Design Thread

Bagel Bros Inc. has announced their new G-League team as well as the arena for the Mountaineers.

To begin, Bagel Bros Inc. have been discussing this with the local officials, and they have decided to place their minor league team in Boise, Idaho, with the team name being the Treasure Valley Frontiers.

When reporters asked the owners why Boise out of all places, Magic responded “I don’t know. It seemed like a good place. Plus potatoes are good.” Fellow owner, BDoof, also added “Potato make vodka. Idaho good.”

As to why the team would be named Treasure Valley Frontiers, fans had to get creative when figuring out the meaning of the name, thus they opened Wikipedia. Turns out the metropolitan area of Boise is also named the Treasure Valley. As for the Frontiers, obviously Boise is a frontier city, but it also hosts one of the largest Basque populations in the United States. While the etymology of the word Basque is unknown, one of the possible explanations were among “tall ones, from the mountains, and frontier”. At least, that’s what the fans have concluded.

And now onto the arena. The Co-CEO’s have announced that they shall be partnering with Charlotte Flyers owner QCS and sharing an arena with the AltHL’s Denver Bighorns. The arena, named Einstein Arena, is named after the local Denver company: Einstein Bros Bagels. Located on the western edge of Denver near the heart of the Rockies, this arena can hold 22,176 enthusiastic fans. It has been the home stadium since the beginning, and has undergone many renovations during the offseasons to keep it up to date.

Information about their coach should be released soon.

THE HUNA NEWS
March 22, 2021

Today, during a Press Conference on the University of Oahu’s campus, the Honolulu Kahunas announced that their new head coach would be legendary point guard Earvin “Magic” Johnson. Backing him up as assistant coaches will be Phil Handy and Damon Stoudamire.

AND NOW, AN INFORMATIVE LOOK AT THE ARENAS OF THE HONOLULU KAHUNAS

The Princess Ka’iulani Forum, known as the Lady K to most Hawaiians, was constructed in 1975 in order to move the then very young Kahunas out of the University of Hawaii’s arena. It gained notability among the league for it’s brightly-colored seats, party atmosphere, and overload of Hawaiian vibes. However, all good thing must come to an end, and eventually the costs of retaining it became to much, forcing the team to move. It is now being converted into a museum dedicated to Hawaiian sporting history.

The team’s current arena is First Hawaiian Bank Arena, constructed as one of the primary tenants of the new Hawai’iloa Park commericial area near downtown Honolulu, alongside the titular hotel and an outdoor mall. It was built with shades of Polynesia in mind, and retains much of the color and atmosphere of the old Forum. A section behind one of the hoops is home to the Hulamen, the passionate but restrained official fan group known for dressing as Hawaiian Monarchy and Hula Dancers, and wearing lots of Hawaiian print in team colors. The arena is accessible by local transit, including the as-of-yet STILL unfinished monorail line. Food is mostly standard game items, fast food outlets, and traditional Hawaiian cuisine, with the main restaurant being Duke’s Tavern directly behind the back of the lower bowl, a tiki-themed cocktail bar with views of the game and a massive tropical fishtank in the wall. Get the Mai Tais ready, Honolulu, the Kahunas are coming for you.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

QCS Sports Holdings and Wallflower have announced the Charlotte Flyers' plans for their G-League affiliate as well as their stadium.

First off, the team will remain at Charlotte Coliseum, its historic home, for one last season before heading Uptown to share an arena with the Charlotte Racers. The stadium has been in use since the Flyers were founded but it sadly grew too old and too far away from the city to remain viable as the full-time home of the Flyers.

In regards to the G-League team, Charlotte has decided to head to co-owner Wallflower's hometown of Winnipeg to bring basketball to the good people of Manitoba. With regards to Minnesota Giants owner Miles Edgeworth, the Royals will take flight at Red River Arena, sharing the arena with the Winnipeg Arrows. A full brand release can be expected in the coming days.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

What? You don't know the Saskatoon Irrigators? Don't worry, you're in the majority. Most people haven't heard of the AltGL, let alone the sole Saskatchewanian team therein. The Irrigators were named after an early minor league baseball team in Saskatoon. The team folded in 1909, but the name was revived in the 1970s when a small professional basketball team took on the moniker. The team colors are mostly from the flag of Saskatchewan. The green represents the northern forests, the gold stands for the fields of grain in the south, and the blue stands for the water that is the lifeblood of agriculture, the water that is mainly delivered by the Irrigators.

The Texas Jackalopes, now under new management, have moved their G League team from Lubbock (Where they played as the Lubbock Hub for the past five seasons), by moving them to San Antonio to become the San Antonio Defenders.

There is also talk, mostly rumors that the Jackalopes may attempt to play some home games throughout the state, with the potential for the Jackalopes to play outside of the Metroplex for 2 to 3 home games in Houston or San Antonio.
