Re: All-American Association Football League

I hope Arizona can get some teams soon, especially now that it’s a state now.

Ultimate Division 1912-1913
The ending of the 1912-1913 season was the closest ever in the Ultimate Division.  Going into the fina weekend, the Philadelphia Libbies stood atop the table, ahead of the New York Fomorians and the recently promoted Boston Gaelics by 2 points.  A draw in the Libbies’ game against the Milwaukee Brewmasters would secure the Libbies’ 2nd Ultimate Division title.  However, the Brewmasters proved victorious at Blatz Platz, upending the Libbies 3-1.  Across town, the Gaelics downed Cream City FC to pull even with the Libbies on points, although with a smaller goal difference.

Meanwhile, both the Fomorians and the Gaelics won, but it was Giovanni Gill’s late goal for the Fomorians in their victory over Baltimore Bannerets that proved crucial.  That goal pushed the Fomorians into a tie with the Libbies on goal difference.  However, the prolific Fomorian attack had rippled the nets more often, and goals for was the 2nd tiebreaker.  With that, the Fomorians annexed their 2nd title.

While some Boston fans were dealing with the disappointment of the Gaelics near miss at taking the title, others in Beantown were bemoaning the poor season of the 4-time champion Shipwrights, who ended in the relegation zone.  Joining the Shipwrights in demotion will be the Pittsburgh Privateers.

Giovanni Gill was not only the most popular man in New York for his title winning goal, but he was also acclaimed as the winner of the Golden Ball as best player of the year.

Re: All-American Association Football League

While I'm disappointed that the Shipwrights got relegated, I'm loving how close the standings were this year!  Very exciting!  Also, really enjoying the inclusion of the jerseys at the bottom of the standings table, a nice touch of detail that I feel enhances the project further!

Great work!

Penultimate Division 1912-1913

Old Nassau 1869 captured the top spot in the Penultimate Division and will make a quick return for a 2nd tour in the Ultimate Division.  The lads from Princeton had been demoted last year after their first tour in the top division.
Inaugural member Mound City will make the same quick return, their 2nd in their history, after the boys from St. Louis finished in a strong second place.

Another inaugural AAAFL member, the Chicago West Side Kicks, came in third, securing a return to the Ultimate Division for first time since 1908.

Philadelphia Sports Club had only been in Ultimate Division for a single season in 1904-1905.  Led by their legendary manager Connie Mack, Sports edged out Paterson for the final promotion spot.

Founding club Louisville Lt. Colonels ended the season second to last and will be demoted for first time to Eastern Regional.  The Lt. Colonels had been in the Penultimate since 1906.

While the west side of Chicago was happy for promotion, the south side of the Windy City was in mourning for demotion.  The Southsiders had just made it back to the Penultimate after 2 years in the Mid-American Regional.   They are a far cry from the squad that had been in Ultimate during the 1906-1907 season.

All of the simulations are done in an ever-growing spreadsheet.  Occasionally, I do play the AFA Cup final and use the results from the gameplay.

Eastern Regional Division 1912-1913

In the Eastern Regional Division, Ilium FC of Troy claimed the top spot by one point over New York Chieftains.  The team from Troy has had two previous 1 year stints in Penultimate - 1906 and 1909.

The New York Chieftains will be making a return to the Penultimate after a 1 year stint in the Eastern.

At the bottom of the table, Hartford Scions and Queens Gambits were the teams who finished in the relegation spots.  The Scions had two years in the Eastern.  The Gambits were a newcomer to the Eastern; they will return to the Atlantic’ New York sectional.  The other newcomer, Worcester Hearts, kept their spot in the Eastern despite a -24 goal difference.

Mid-American Division 1912-1913

The St. Louis All-Saints continued on their trek to be acclaimed the best team in St. Louis with a top finish.  They certainly were better than veteran St. Louis Crociati (nee Diel’s), but they will have to wait a while before they can catch up to Mound City, which earned promotion to the Ultimate.

Detroit United Albions had been relegated last year, but they were able to nab the 2nd spot on goal difference over Louisville Racehorses.

The two new clubs this season, Saginaw Cogs and St. Cloud Jotuns, ended up near the bottom of the table, but they will remain since the Mid-American Division hasn’t filled all 20 spots yet.
