Considering Mallard-White’s recent award, has he reached the point of likability/notoriety where he can be given a nickname?

I mean I'm sure, I really don't focus much on nicknames, it really is determined fans irl, so it works the same here.

What about the Quack Attack? His name is Mallard after all.

I don't know much about the player, but Mad Mallard-White sounds kind of cool.

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

Laughable way for my Gold Stars to open up the season. I wasn’t expecting a win against the fantastic LI defense but I was expecting a bit more of a showing then 10 points from the offensive.

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

1959 Week 2

Ottawa Royals - 27, Buffalo Blue Wings - 13 - Royals Stadium at Brewer Park - July 1, 1959 - 5 PM ET - Canada Day - Weather: Clear
1st
0-3 BUF - FG K Donald Brewer
3-3 OTT - FG K Maurice Lafayette
2nd
6-3 OTT - FG K Maurice Lafayette
13-3 OTT - RTD RB Alexei Volkov
13-6 BUF - FG K Donald Brewer
3rd
13-13 BUF - RTD RB Johnnie Stafford
20-13 OTT - PTD QB Jean Matieau -> WR Chester Bennett
4th
27-13 OTT - PTD QB Jean Matieau -> WR Mackenzie Jones

The Canada Day game started quite sloppy with both teams having a shorter week playing on Wednesday.
Ottawa would take a late advantage in the second half off of a DB Mingan Oliver interception that set up the Alexei Volkov touchdown, but Buffalo would tie it up out of the break with their own rushing TD.
Matieau would take over in the second half though tossing two touchdowns in the winning effort to go to 2-0.

London Tigers - 23, Providence Gold Stars - 17 - Western Fair Stadium - July 3, 1959 - 7 PM ET - FNF - Weather: Windy
1st
3-0 LDN - FG K Nathaniel King
10-0 LDN - RTD RB Clifford Russell
2nd
10-7 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Cedric Peterson
13-7 LDN - FG K Nathaniel King
3rd
13-14 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Christian Venegas
13-17 PRO - FG K Ira Foster
4th
20-17 LDN - RTD RB Clifford Russell
23-17 LDN - FG K Nathaniel King

QB Connor O’Rourke was able to keep the Gold Stars in the game this week but ultimately ran out of gas in the 4th as the Tigers stifled all offensive attacks.RB Clifford Russell was the star for the Tigers, taking in two touchdowns.DB Ricardo Salvador and LB Aengus Lynch led the way with a turnover each for the Tigers.DB Lee Wolfe also brought in a pick in the 3rd quarter to help extend the Gold Stars lead at the time.

Louisville Thunder - 9, Boston Independents - 24 - Thunder Stadium - July 4, 1959 - 5 PM ET - 4th of July - Weather: Clear
1st
0-7 BOS - DTD - FUM - LB Konrad Aust
3-7 LOU - FG K Theodore Provost
2nd
3-14 BOS - RTD RB Kendall Morgan
6-14 LOU - FG K Theodore Provost
3rd
6-17 BOS - FG K Johnnie Berg
9-17 LOU - FG K Theodore Provost
4th
9-24 BOS - PTD QB Nathaniel Braddock -> WR Ellis Lindholm

A tough start for Louisville when RB Stavros Black would be hit by LB Marco Price, knocking the ball loose and allowing LB Konrad Aust to take it back to the house. The game only got worse from there as the Independents’ defence shut them down for the most part.QB Nathaniel Braddock continued to lead the offence well, especially after losing RB Kendall Morgan in the 3rd quarter to injury.

Indiana Victors - 8, Long Island Raiders - 34 - Victory Stadium - July 5, 1959 - 1 PM ET - Weather: Clear
1st
0-7 LI - RTD RB Dareion Fields
0-10 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
0-17 LI - PTD QB Lyle Painter -> WR Darryl Duke
2nd
1-17 IND - Single K Ross Poindexter
1-24 LI - PTD QB Lyle Painter -> WR Robert Lang
3rd
8-24 IND - RTD RB Rodney Clark
8-27 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
4th
8-34 LI - RTD RB Dareion Fields

The Raiders rolled over the Victors in week 2 of the season. QB Lyle Painter was playing stellar tossing 2 touchdowns and almost a 3rd but an incomplete pass would lead to the give to Fields instead.
LB Elijah Goldwater had a big game bringing in a pick and a forced fumble, which was supported by DL Vernon Spears’ 2nd forced fumble of the season and DB Slay Mitchell’s second interception.
The Victors had zero answers for the Raiders and fall to 0-2.

Montreal Rouge - 15, Worcester Athletics - 18 - Mount Royal Stadium - 4 PM ET - Weather: Clear
1st
7-0 MTL - RTD RB Scott Mallard-White
7-3 WOR - FG K Elvis Franklin
2nd
7-6 WOR - FG K Elvis Franklin
7-12 WOR - RTD RB Marcus Devonshire
3rd
13-12 MTL - RTD RB Scott Mallard-White
15-12 MTL - 2PT QB Stanislav Ovechkin -> TE Eli GRant
4th
15-15 WOR - FG K Elvis Franklin
15-18 WOR - FG K Elvis Franklin

A sluggish game between the Rouge and Athletics ended with Gene Bishop getting the Athletics into field goal range on an 18-yard scramble, setting up rookie K Elvis Franklin for the win.
Overall, both teams couldn’t get a lot of momentum going and the endzone seemed too far to reach at times, but the RBs finally broke through a couple of times.
Montreal surprisingly drops to 0-2 and the Athletics move into 3rd at 1-1.

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

1959 Week 3

Ottawa Royals - 20, Boston Independents - 10 - Royals Stadium at Brewer Park - July 10, 1959 - 7 PM ET - FNF - Weather: Heavy Rain
1st
0-3 BOS - FG K Johnnie Berg
2nd
0-10 BOS - RTD RB Eddie Thompson
3-10 OTT - FG K Maurice Lafayette
3rd
6-10 OTT - FG K Maurice Lafayette
13-10 OTT - PTD QB Jean Matieau -> WR Mackenzie Jones
4th
20-10 OTT - RTD RB Alexei Volkov

A rainstorm rolled through Ottawa for their Friday night match against Boston.
Boston used it to their advantage early with a couple of early forced fumbles and a 10-0 lead, however, the second half was all Ottawa.
Momentum shifted with Ottawa’s defence coming alive, DL Olaf Viktorsson would knock the ball out of Eddie Thompson’s grasp, and LB Killiam Reed would do the same a couple of drives later.
The shift resulted in Ottawa putting up 20 points in a row and bringing in another win.

London Tigers - 27, Indiana Victors - 12 - Western Fair Stadium - July 11, 1959 - 3 PM ET - Weather: Windy
1st
7-0 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Max Sutton
2nd
14-0 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan ->TE Paul McDowell
14-3 IND - FG K Ross Poindexter
14-4 IND - Single K Ross Poindexter
3rd
14-11 IND - RTD RB Rodney Clark
21-11 LDN - RTD RB Clifford Russell
4th
24-11 LDN - FG K Nathaniel King
24-12 IND - Single Ross Poindexter
27-12 LDN - FG K Nathaniel King

London would start strong in the rematch against Indiana, and the two early TDs would be enough to hold off the winless Victors.
Indiana had a bit of a momentum shift in their favour early in the 3rd when DL William Sanderson got to QB Riley Kiernan and knocked the ball loose.
RB Rodney Clark would take it the rest of the way to score and get Indiana back into the game.
However, London’s defence stepped up and got the momentum back into London’s favour with LB Aengus Lynch taking the ball from Clark and setting up a Clifford Russell score.
The Tigers' win puts them at 3-0 for the first time since 1952.

Buffalo Blue Wings - 22, Montreal Rouge - 3 - Buffalo Civic Stadium - July 11, 1959 - 7 PM ET - SNF - Weather: Rain
1st
7-0 BUF - RTD RB Johnnie Stafford
2nd
10-0 BUF - FG K Donald Brewer
12-0 BUF - Safety DL Mickey Daly
3rd
12-3 MTL - FG K Arthur Kettinger
19-3 BUF - RTD RB Johnnie Stafford
4th
22-3 BUF - FG K Donald Brewer

With rain back in the air around the great lakes, the Blue Wings came through with a very strong win over the struggling Montreal Rouge.
A muffed punt would leave Montreal down on their own goal line, and DL Mickey Daly would take down Stanislav Ovechkin in the endzone for a safety.
RB Johnnie Stafford continued his hot start with a pair of touchdowns in this one as well.

Long Island Raiders - 29, Louisville Thunder - 28 - Long Island Stadium - July 12, 1959 - 1 PM ET - Weather: Clear
1st
3-0 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
10-0 LI - RTD RB Dareion Fields
10-3 LOU - FG K Theodore Provost
2nd
13-3 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
13-10 LOU - PTD QB Leonidas Dumont -> WR Ben Roland
3rd
16-10 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
16-17 LOU - DTD - INT DB Alexander Bradley
19-17 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
19-20 LOU - FG K Theodore Provost
4th
19-26 LOU - PTD QB Leonidas Dumont -> TE Christopher Gist
19-28 LOU - 2PT QB Leonidas Dumont -> WR Marty Jay
26-28 LI - PTD QB Lyle Painter -> WR Robert Lang
29-28 LI - K Henderson Schumacher

A surprisingly high scoring affair between the Raiders and Thunder would almost end in a Thunder win, but a late comeback from the Raiders would continue their 3-0 start.
Alexander Bradley got to return to the endzone with a huge interception in the 3rd.
Leonidas Dumont also had a strong game for Louisville tossing a pair of touchdowns.
QB Lyle Painter would get the last laugh with a pair of strong drives to get Long Island back in front.
He also had help from DB Slay Mitchell, who reeled in another interception.

Providence Gold Stars - 21, Worcester Athletics - 13 - New Providence Stadium - July 12, 1959 - 4 PM ET - Weather: Windy
1st
7-0 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Cedric Peterson
2nd
14-0 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Christian Venegas
14-7 WOR - RTD RB Marcus Devonshire
3rd
21-7 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Christian Venegas
21-10 WOR - FG K Elvis Franklin
4th
21-13 WOR - FG K Elvis Franklin

QB Connor O’Rourke would take over for the Gold Stars in their first win of the season, throwing 3 touchdowns.
WR Christian Venegas seems to have gotten comfortable in the Gold Stars offence, scoring two touchdowns against his former team.
LB Scotty Williams was the bright spot for Worcester getting a forced fumble and 11 tackles on the day, but it was not enough to get Worcester back into the game.

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

A very surprising 0-3 start here for Montreal which is not at all what I expected. Next week against Ottawa is not looking good for this team either. I’m not so sure this team will be able to get out of a 0-4 hole early in the season so next week is a must win for them.

0-3 is a bit disappointing, hopefully we can string together some wins here soon!

Montreal's start is very surprising, HC Soni Dionne will certainly start feeling the heat if the team can't turn things around.

Louisville is playing much better than their record states, they've just run into a very tough start to the schedule, especially the back-to-back with Long Island.

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

1959 Week 4

Montreal Rouge - 28, Ottawa Royals - 31 - Mount Royal Stadium - July 17, 1959 - 7 PM ET - FNF - Weather: Clear
1st
0-7 OTT - PTD QB Jean Matieau -> WR Truman Harry
3-7 MTL - FG K Arthur Kettinger
3-10 OTT - FG K Maurice Lafayette
2nd
6-10 MTL - FG K Arthur Kettinger
6-17 OTT - PTD QB Jean Matieau -> WR Mackenzie Jones
12-17 MTL - PTD QB Stanislav Ovechkin -> WR Ray Lopez
14-17 MTL - 2PT RB Scott Mallard-White
3rd
21-17 MTL - RTD RB Scott Mallard-White
4th
28-17 MTL - RTD RB Scott Mallard-White
28-23 OTT - PTD QB Brian Meadows -> WR Chester Bennett
28-29 OTT - PTD QB Brian Meadows -> WR Mackenzie Jones
28-31 OTT - 2PT QB Brian Meadows -> WR Truman Harry

The Royals-Rouge rivalry got heated in the 3rd quarter when DL Troy Hunt of the Royals would lay a hit on QB Stanislav Ovechkin who was trying to run for a first down. Ovechkin would leave the game with a minor injury, but the Rouge were not a fan of the hit put on Ovechkin, so the defence retaliated by going after Jean Matieau. On the next Royals’ drive, DL Dexter Barbarcos would lay a late cheap shot on Matieau which would pull him out of the game. Both sides were not having any of it, and post-play talk and shoving would become a regular occurrence. QB Brian Meadows would enter the game and would fall behind 28-17, but he would lead the Royals on a monster come back to win another game and improve to 4-0.

Boston Independents - 24, London Tigers - 20 - Richardson Stadium - July 18, 1959 - 3 PM ET - Weather: Clear
1st
3-0 BOS - FG K Johnnie Berg
3-7 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Wilbert Benjamin

17-17 LDN - RTD RB Clifford Russell
4th
17-20 LDN - FG K Nathaniel King
24-20 BOS - PTD QB Nathaniel Braddock -> WR Clyde McIntosh

A back and forth game in Boston came down to Nathaniel Braddock winning the game on a long meticulous drive ending in a toss to Clyde McIntosh.
London seemed to shift momentum with the defence coming up with stops in the 4th and taking the lead, but they could not stop Braddock on his final drive.
LB Konrad Aust had a forced fumble for Boston early in the game, while DB Jackson Miles grabbed a pick in the fourth to stop Boston on an earlier drive.

Louisville Thunder - 24, Long Island Raiders - 27 - Thunder Stadium - July 18, 1959 - 7 PM ET - SNF - Weather: Clear
1st
0-7 LI - RTD RB Dareion Fields
3-7 LOU - FG K Theodore Provost

21-17 LOU - RTD RB Stavros Black
21-24 LI - RTD RB Dareion Fields
4th
24-24 LOU - FG K Theodore Provost
24-27 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher

Louisville came close to topping the division-leading Raiders, but they were unable to stop the Raiders' final drive which ended with Henderson Schumacher nailing the game-winning kick.
The Thunder have looked good, in the past few weeks, but being 0-4 is a tough start considering how good they have been playing.
DB Alexander Bradley came down with another pick in this game, and DB Oliver Langstrom would grab his first career pick as well.
DB Slay Mitchell had another pick for the Raiders while giving Ben Roland a tough time.
Finally, LB Rusty McVee grabbed a forced fumble off of Stavros Black.

Worcester Athletics - 20, Buffalo Blue Wings - 20 - Worcester Stadium - July 19, 1959 - 1 PM ET - Weather: Windy
1st

3rd
17-13 WOR - FG K Elvis Franklin4th20-13 WOR - FG K Elvis Franklin
20-20 BUF - PTD QB Angelo Medina -> WR Daniel Irons

WR Daniel Irons’ late touchdown tied up a game that Worcester thought was won.
QB Angelo Medina was able to throw the ball to WR LeRoy Krueger on what was the final play, but as Krueger was being tackled by LB Scotty Williams, he was able to pitch the ball back to Irons who took past everyone into the endzone to tie the game.
QB Gene Bishop was able to show off his arm in a toss to Zachariah Pembroke deep for a touchdown, which was Pembroke’s first career score.S Frazier Brooks had a pick for Buffalo, while LB Harrison Bennett was able to grab a fumble for Worcester.

Providence Gold Stars - 36, Indiana Victors - 0 - New Providence Stadium - July 19, 1959 - 4 PM ET - Weather: Windy

3rd
29-0 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Christian Venegas
4th
36-0 PRO - RTD RB Tommy Kerr

Providence smacked the Victors with QB Connor O’Rourke throwing 3 more touchdowns and the defence shutting down all offence.
Unfortunately for Providence, WR Cedric Peterson would leave the game following his touchdown catch falling awkwardly after.
DB Lee Wolfe and DB Victor Bean reeled in a pick each and DL Calias McDonough would grab a forced fumble in the effort.
RB Bernard Alston and RB Tommy Kerr had their first career TDs in the game.
