1951 Kellogg Cup Finals 

Game 1: St. Cloud comes out on top in a high scoring affair after jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first.

Game 2: Eveleth came back after game one and shut down the Bear Cats offense, tying the series at one apiece.

Game 3: Back on home ice, the Reds lit up St. Cloud's net minder, putting up 4 in the first two periods, they then played shut down defense, holding them Bear Cats to only one goal. 

Game 4: The Reds fell down 1-0 early in the second, but responded just over a minute later, they then proceeded to notch two more in the third to take a 3-1 series lead.

Game 5: Back on Lake George in St. Cloud, the Reds continued to light up the Bear Cats goalie, scoring three unanswered goals. St. Cloud finally responded with 5 minutes left in the game and then got another with just over a minute left. Down by one with the season on the line, the Bear Cats pulled the goalie and threw everything on net, despite an incredible 13 shots on goal in just over a minute, the Reds goaltender stood tall, holding onto the lead and helping Eveleth claim their fifth Kellogg Cup!

Prior to the 1951/52 Season the MAHL made a few announcements. 

Two new rivalry trophies were announced, the Duluth Hornets and Voyageurs will now play for a living Beaver, "Benjamin Beaver" is a resident of the Lake Superior Zoo in the city, and the zoo has allowed the teams to compete every year to "own" Benny for the year. The winning team will get their picture with the Beaver and will have free passes for their families to the zoo for the year, the winner is decided based on head to head wins and the tiebreaker is goal differential. The other trophy is the Can-Am Cup between International Falls and Fort Frances, it is also decided by head to head wins or goal differential. Also, three teams made adjustments to their identities over the off season, and one new team will be joining the league. 

Chisholm made a slight adjustment to their jerseys, just shrinking the size of the stripes on the uniform.  

Cloquet unveiled a new logo for the first time since joining the league, replacing their old Bronco is a horseshoe turned to the side to form a C for Cloquet. The jerseys are also adjusted, the bottom stripe is lifted off the bottom of the hem, and the away jersey is now white instead of yellow. 

 

Hibbing made the biggest change this year, completely rebranding. The H with Greyhound logo is gone for a bigger Greyhound with "Hibbing" arched above. The navy has now become regular blue and the orange is now grey or silver. The home uniform is all blue with grey stripes and a white logo and numbers. The away jersey is white with blue sleeves, the striping om the sleeves stays grey, but the hem stripe is blue as well a the logo and numbers.

The 1951/52 season concluded and here are the stories. 

Iron Range Hockey League: The Eveleth Reds continue to own the Iron Range, claiming their fifth straight league title, Marco Palazzari set a new league record with 41 goals in 24 games this season. Ely jumped back up to second place, and Hibbing had another good season, but dropped to third. Grand Rapids bounced back after a disappointing season, making the playoffs as the 4 seed. Virginia just missed out on the playoffs, finishing in fifth. Chisholm actually didn't finish in last place this year, thanks to a good season from their goaltender Mikael Olafsson, the Miners appear to have officially hit rock bottom, finishing in last place with only 3 wins. 

Lake Superior Hockey League: Thunder Bay has made a sharp turn from almost missing the playoffs 2 years ago to winning the league title. The Hornets remained in second place with another strong season, and they won Benjamin Beaver in the Battle of Duluth against the Voyageurs. Superior had a good year, but not as good as the last few as they dropped to third and are beginning to look old compared to the other teams in the league. The Voyageurs remained in fourth place, but had a losing record. Cloquet and Two Harbors finished in fifth and last place. 

Northland Hockey League: Roseau had a huge year, Baumgartner had 47 points total, setting a Northland League record, and the Stars reclaimed the league title. St. Cloud and Schmidt dropped to second place, but were right on the tails of Roseau. International Falls took third, but still looks like a potential threat in the playoffs, they also captured the first ever Can-Am Cup against the Trappers. Fort Frances had a solid season, improving to fourth and making the playoffs for the first time. Warroad was good, but not good enough for the talent in the league, they dropped down to fifth place. A young Bemidji team improved and looks like they could compete with the big boys in a year or two. The Railers dropped down after a good season last year. Alexandria moved up one spot from last, and the Cyclones finished in the basement. 

Twin Cities Hockey League: The Mighty Millers had a huge season, surpassing both St. Paul Saints and Victorias to claim their first league title in 31 years! The St. Paul Victorias dropped to second place, but still had a good season, they also kept the Milk Jug for the third straight year. The Saints dropped one spot, finishing third, but still had a really solid all around season. West St. Paul had another good all around season, making the playoffs again as the 4 seed. South St. Paul had their best season in a while, but still missed the playoffs. The Vulcans are looking older and older by the day, and it is beginning to show as they dropped another spot this year. White Bear Lake and the Bruins remained in 7th and 8th. 

Valley Hockey League: The Mustangs have claimed their third straight league title. Albert Lea remained in second after a good season. The Robins finished in third in their first year. Austin kept things going from last year, remaining in the playoffs. Winona finished just out of the playoffs again, finishing in fifth. Red Wing finished in sixth place, and the Brewers had a disaster of a season, dropping from the playoffs to last place in the league.
