AltFL Legacy

AltFL Owners and Fans!

It is time to get ready for the Legacy Project.  Here are the basics for those of you who are new to the experience.

The Legacy Project provides us with some entertainment, conversation fodder, and histories for each of our franchises.

-The Project will cover the span of 1990 to 2010.  BUT in our universe it will run from 2000-2020 so that it runs right up to our first season.
-Unlike the AltHL we will be starting with the AltFL as one league.  That means that every season will end with an Alt Bowl Champion.  We will award AltBowls 1-20 during this project and our first 'modern era' season will award AltBowl XXI.
-We match up each AltFL team with an NFL.  Their regular season records are the same.  We will then seed the teams in OUR playoffs.  For fun, we will have 12/24 teams make the playoffs.  The playoffs will reflect the scores of the NFL's playoffs BUT the AltBowl will reflect the CFL's Grey Cup of that year.
-This means that the histories of your teams will be different than your NFL team.
-We will begin on Monday!

Here are the matchups.

Re: AltFL Legacy

The 2000 AltFL Season

IRL the 1990 season was the first season in which NFL teams had 'bye weeks'.  This move helped the league expand their schedule to 17 weeks to increase revenue.  The playoffs were also expanded from 10 - 12 teams.  Paul Tagliabue also took over for Pete Rozelle as the NFL's commissioner.

Division Champions earn first round byes

North Champions - Buffalo Bolts
West Champions - Los Angeles Sabercats
Central Champions - St. Louis Explorers
South Champions - San Antonio Phantoms

Wildcard Round Matchups

#12 Portland Grizzlies @ #5 Carolina Reapers

#11 Dallas Bandits @ #6 Arizona Scorpions

#10 Minnesota Voyageurs @ #7 Kansas City Scarecrows

#9 Kentucky Stallions @ #8 Philadelphia Brawlers

Re: AltFL Legacy

Man the South sucked this year. Two teams tied at 5-11 for third, including me... all I have to say to that is yikes.

Re: AltFL Legacy

6-10...could be better, but could be much worse too.  Lookin' forward to better days ahead in the later part of this decade.

Came into the season. (WHAT?) With a badass team. (WHAT?) I said with a badass team! (WHAT?) So they had all these guys. (WHAT?) Joe Montana. (WHAT?) Jerry Rice. (WHAT?). Ronnie Lott. (WHAT?) Bill Romanowski. (WHAT?) And all these other badasses! (WHAT?) So in the league. (WHAT?) This team. (WHAT?) This badass team! (WHAT?) Came in. (WHAT?) Beat the other teams’ asses! (WHAT?) Drank beer. (WHAT?) Drank whiskey. (WHAT?) Ate cheeseburgers. (WHAT?) Drank more beer. (WHAT?) Beat some other teams’ asses. (WHAT?) And dominated the league! (HELL YEAH!) And that’s the bottom line, because Stone Cold said so!!

Thank you for the story, Stone Cold. Let’s hope the playoffs go well, although I don’t feel like it will...
