Wow! How long has it been since we've been ranked as high as #2 in a postseason?

Poor Fergus...finally Granite League champs, and they're still stuck at the #11 seed?
They are gonna have a BIG chip on their shoulders.

St. Peter might make it to the Super Series! They won't have to go through La Crosse to do so, so there's a chance.

1975 Kellogg Cup Playoffs; Knockout Round - North
Virginia Royals vs Thief River Falls Railers
Things got off to a rough start for the Royals, with the Railers jumping out to a 3 goal lead after the first. Virginia did pull it back a bit in the second, outshooting Thief 11-7 and finding the back of the net once, but a Railers goal midway through the third would put the final nail in the coffin as the Thief River Falls Railers advance with a 4-1 upset win.
Hibbing Greyhounds vs St. Cloud Bearcats
It was a sloppy game of hockey in Hibbing as both the Hounds and Cats struggled to get much of anything going. St. Cloud scored the first and only goal of the game on a bad angle shot in the second that snuck between the goalie and the post to give the Bearcats the lead. That would prove to be the only goal of the game as Hibbing failed to get it together, losing 1-0 at home to the Bearcats.
Duluth Voyageurs vs Little Falls Pilots
After a fairly even first with le bleus outshooting the Pilots by only 1, it became the Voyageur show in the final two periods as Duluth out shot Little Falls 42-23, scoring twice in the second and once again in the third to shut out the Pilots 3-0 to advance.
Fargo Titans vs Silver Bay Beavers
The Beavers were ready to go in their first ever playoff game, jumping out to a 1-0 lead 6:46 into the game. The Titans fought back, knotting the score at 1 before we went to the second. The second was even, but low on shots and scoring chances, no goals were scored as it remained 1-1. Fargo opened up the third with a powerplay goal, adding to their lead just past the midway point of the period. That would be enough for the Titans as the Beavers were unable to come back. Fargo ends Silver Bay's first playoff appearance with a 3-1 win to advance.

1975 Kellogg Cup Playoffs; First Round - North
Bemidji Blue Ox vs Thief River Falls Railers
Things started off looking even in the Glas as Railers kept the Blue Ox off the scoreboard for the first 20 minutes despite being outshot 16-5. Things began to open up in the second when the Babes converted on a powerplay to take the lead. They carried play for the remainder of the period but couldn't build on their lead, keeping the Railers in the game. A 2 on 1 chance in the opening minute put the Ox in front by two. Bemidji slammed their foot on the accelerator, harassing the Railers into coughing up the puck, popping home two more goals to win by a final score of 4-0.
Warroad Lakers vs Grand Forks Jets
It was a scorers game at the Castle on the Corner in Warroad as the Lakers and Jets combined for 9 goals in the game. The hometown Lakers wound up on top 5-4, scoring twice on a 5 minute major to propel them past Grand Forks and into the second round.
Steinbach Barbarians vs St. Cloud Bearcats
Things were looking good for the Barbarians, up 2-0 after the first, at home against the lowest seed in the north. But then things changed. The Bearcats completely shut down the Barbs attack, holding them to only 3 shots in the period. Meanwhile St. Cloud began to build momentum and offensive chances. A shot rang off the post and another went over an open goal, but Steinbach still led 2-0 after 2. St. Cloud picked up right where they left off in the second, attacking the Steinbach goal. A rebound was gathered and dished to the far side for a one timer that got the Cats on the board. They added another a few minutes later to force overtime where they continued to press the Barbarians, converting on an odd man rush to complete the comeback upset.
Grand Rapids Moose vs Brainerd Lumberjacks
The first was back and forth as well as high scoring, Grand Rapids jumped out to a 1-0 lead but the Jacks got two quick goals midway through the period to take the lead for themselves. The Moose scored a buzzer beater with 3 seconds left in the first to tie it up at two. The second got off to a slow start, but then the Moose began to take over, scoring 3 unanswered goals in the second to take a 5-2 lead which held to the final horn, sending Grand Rapids to the second round.
Eveleth Redbirds vs Duluth Voyageurs
Eveleth coughed up the puck in the opening minute, allowing Duluth to take an early lead which they extended to 2 before the first came to an end. The Redbirds had a much better second period, scoring 3 unanswered goals before the Voyageurs would tie it up at 3. The Birds would regain the lead early in the third, adding an empty netter to put it away and advance with a 5-3 win.
Superior Lakers vs East Grand Forks Pointers
A slow start, shots were 7-5 in favor of the Lakers after the first, and it didn't get much more interesting in the second. The first action of note happened when a Pointers pass was picked off and headmanned for a breakaway which sent Wessman Arena into a frenzy as the Lakers took the lead. They added an empty netter with a minute and a half left to put it away, shutting out EGF 2-0.
Thunder Bay Giants vs Fargo Titans
The high flying Giants were too much for Fargo to contain, scoring 5 times to the Titans 2, advancing to the second round with a convincing win.
Roseau Stars vs Fergus Falls Cyclones
The Granite Hockey League champs made the trek to Roseau to do battle in front of the Green Army. The Clones had a chip on their shoulder for being a visitor despite winning their league, but the Stars were ranked higher at the end of the season ad thus have home ice. The home ice advantage played a huge role as always as Roseau jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 1. Fergus did convert on a powerplay in the second to bring themselves back a bit, but Roseau regained their 3 goal lead late in the period and held it through the third to win 4-1.

We may of started that game rough, but we cruised the rest of it. Keep it going Eveleth!

My Superior Lakers are next for you... I hope your team loses, but it'll be a good one.

St. Cloud!?

I figured the Reds would win but blowing an early lead stings a bit. Nice upset by St. Cloud though!
