1952-53 Off-season
The unnamed rival league took the first steps in formally announcing at least some of the cities that will be represented when the league takes the field for 1954.
Even though the New York market is served by the Heroes at the Polo Grounds and, to some extent, the New Jersey Bulldogs at Roosevelt Field in Jersey City, the rival league knew they needed a New York presence to woo CBS, NBC or ABC to televise their games.
With the DANA reluctant to bring their brand of Driveball to the west coast, the rival league is aggressively emphasizing California as its key to success.
Ten teams will form the new league, but it'll take time for the cities to be finalized.
