Vancouver Forge: The city was forged from the wilderness.

Washington Athletics: Old school name for the hell of it.

New Orleans: I'll second the Krewe. I don't know enough to help.

Atlanta Riders: of the rails.

Charlotte Royals: Sorry QCS.

California Sharks: For the sea life in the bays around Cali.

Atlanta Peaches: Georgia is the Peach State after all

Charlotte Monarchs: Could either come from Charlotte's nickname of the Queen City, or that North Carolina is considered the kings of basketball (for college at least). You could go the typical royal route, or even something like a monarch butterfly as a stretch

Los Angeles Palms: Many of LA's streets are lined with palm trees

New Orleans Mystics: Named after the Mistick Krewe of Comus, the oldest Mardi Gras organization in NOLA

Vancouver North Stars: As in movie star (the typical name suggestion for LA is the Stars), as Vancouver is sometimes known as "Hollywood North" because of the number of films shot here

Washington Guardians: DC is where the military is headquartered, as the US has been known to be the guardians of democracy for the majority of recent history

Charlotte Regents - The best of the Queen City nicknames. Now QCS Approved!

Washington Monuments - Washington has the highest number of monuments per capita (citation needed).

Los Angeles Olympians - Los Angeles has exerted its mythic power to play host twice (soon to be thrice) to the Olympics. Now QCS Approved!

New Orleans Heralds - Blow the trumpet! A new king of the court is crowned.

Vancouver Smoke - The Big Smoke deserves this moniker. This collection-of-airborne particulates-and-gases-derived appellation also alludes to Gastown, the ancient core of the city.

Atlanta Athletics - A more classic throwback type of name
Carolina Corsairs - because QCS knows
Hollywood Wonders - a vague play on the various superhero universes in Hollywood
New Orleans Jokers - Jesters is probably better but Jokers could work too
Vancouver Moose - them moose be big and mean
Washington Civics - the center for civics

Atlanta Scorchers: They don't call it Hotlanta for nothing.
Charlotte Flight: A name the old Bobcats could've used?
Hollywood Moguls: Need I say more?
New Orleans Court Jesters: Basketball is played on a court, right?
Vancouver Kodiaks: Close to Grizzlies without actually being the Grizzlies?
Washington Weasels: Couldn't come up with anything else for DC.

I would also like to clarify — the Denver Haymakers option should be the COLORADO Haymakers. A vote for the Denver Haymakers should be understood as a vote for the Colorado Haymakers. I empathize with Gritty, as data entry is very error prone, but the name is much stronger overall with the Colorado identifier.

Atlanta Movement: Refers to both the movement of a basketball team and the civil rights movement.
Charlotte Mints: Reference to the first branch of the U.S. Mint, built in Charlotte.
Los Angeles Coasters: Reference to Santa Monica Pier.
New Orleans Voodoo: Homage to Louisiana’s rich voodoo culture.
Vancouver Whales: Reference to the whales of the Pacific Coast.
Washington Solons: Obvious.

Atlanta Flame- its hot as hell there sometimes, plus it burned down before
Charlotte Aviators- the wright brothers took their first flight in North Carolina
Los Angeles Queens- a mouthful I know, but Los angeles' translation is "The town of our lady, the queen of angels"
New Orleans Typhoons- Katrina wrecked them in 2005, and they've really rebounded since then
Vancouver Porters- Vancouver is the fourth largest port in the americas, and the largest in Canada
Washington Justice- the supreme court is located here

We already have the Ghosts in the AltHL in Chicago
