In the Western Regional Division, Golden West FC rebranded itself to San Diego Golden Hillsiders.  Part of the name change was to make it clear where the team was based, and part of it was to reflect its ownership group, which is based in the Golden Hill neighborhood.

Also in the Western Regional Division, the Sacramento Rovers rebranded from the popular “Rovers” appellation to something unique.  Hearkening to the famous local geological feature, the Sacramento River Deltas will now be the team playing at Oak Park.

FC Salt Lake City decided to rebrand to something less generic.  Their crest has changed ever so slightly to reflect their new name, Salt Lake City Meridians.  The name refers to the surveying feature that was established in 1855 and is used for most surveys in the state of Utah.

There was great distress in the Windy City when the Pullman Company announced that they were ending their sponsorship of Chicago Pullman FC.  Rather than let the club fold, a consortium of local German clubs formed a corporation called the United German Societies, and purchased the franchise.  Finding a new home in Winnemac Stadium, the club will now be known as Eintracht Chicago, “Eintracht” being “United” in German.

In another change of ownership, St. Louis entrepreneur Gus Diehl decided that he finally wanted out of the football business.   Shopping the franchise around his city, a hotbed for football, he finally struck a deal with an organization of local Italian immigrants, the Sons of Italy.  The Sons then negotiated an agreement with Alexander Handlan of Handlan Buck Mannufacturing to have the team play at Handlan’s Park.  The club was rechristened as St. Louis Crociati (“Crusaders” in Italian) and feature the colors of Italy as well as those of France (for King St. Louis).

The Bethlehem Steel Shipbuilding Company, a division of the company that owns the Bethlehem Steelworkers, has established a new Western Regional Division team associated with its San Francisco operations.  The company, which operates out of the Hunters Point locale, will field the San Francisco Point Hunters.  The club will share the same colors of the Steelworkers and will play at the newly-constructed Hunters Point Shipyard field.

The City of Angels will have another Western Regional Division team for the upcoming season.  Emma Saunders, the well-known “Oil Queen of Los Angeles,” will be the owner of the new Los Angeles Pumpjacks.  Featuring the colors of “black oil” and gold, the Pumpjacks will showcase their wares on the new Oil Field.

Sigs for the clubs of the Ultimate Division.  Let me know if you want a larger version of any of them.
