Yeah, I raised that issue to Gritty. He's looking into it, not sure how it'll resolve.

EDIT: Stickman, is your Tennessee suggestion supposed to be Copperheads? Because I don't think a Cooperhead is a thing.

I told him as long as the Carolina Reapers use the actual pepper as the main design inspiration, and not the Grim Reaper, I can live with the two teams coinciding.

That's my bad. I forgot about the Minor League Teams.

Happens, brother. I can see a team with a pepper as the main logo being a real fun one to work with.

Re: AltFL - Design Thread

Phoenix area being my home, I think I couldn’t do any better than that ROADRUNNERS name. With Tucson’s minor league hockey team being named that, I have always thought it was better than our coyotes.

“Arizona” is a very smart play for location name when it comes to Phoenix. Many, like myself, are transplants in Phoenix, making a lot of the city either giving alliances to other teams or being a fare-weather fan. This is not the case anywhere outside of the Phoenix/Tempe area. The whole state is very proud of where they are from, and as much as I hate to say it, Tucson and Flagstaff should be represented in the Pro team’s name. Also, half our big four teams acknowledged this and are named after the state and not the city. Just something to consider if it isn’t known.

Whatever the team ends up being, I’m excited to jump deep into that Arizona look. Turquoise and Copper allllllllll day!

If I had to try contributing I think a team called the Arizona Haboob would be well received by here and only here. If you don't know what a Haboob is look it up. They are terrifying to look at in pictures. Even more terrifying to experience during your first week at college, driving alone an hour away from campus..

Nashville - Blades - Controversial pick, but the Grecian swords used by said Greeks, plus the teeth of sabertooths said to cut like blades (a fossil of a saber tooth was found under the buildings site of now Bridgestone Arena).

New York - Empire - Double down on this one from AltHL, the Empire State Building and the Empire known as Wall Street makes this name befitting.

Orlando - Galactics - The Space Center in Orlando, plus with Disney having Star Wars, let’s fly the Galaxies together.

Philadelphia - Brawlers - The amount of boxing movies and great boxers to come out of the City of Brotherly Love makes the name fit here just as well as Louisville

Phoenix - Saguaros - The saguaro cactus is everywhere in Phoenix, and are protected heavily in the state of Arizona.

Portland - Thorns - The City of Roses is a nickname of Portland, and as Persona 5’s Ann Takamaki says, “A beautiful rose has thorns!”

As much as I appreciate a Persona 5 reference, Portland's NWSL team also called the Thorns.

Re: AltFL - Design Thread

Nashville Pantheon - The Athens of the South must have its gods.
New York Traders - From its start as a fort and port protecting the beaver trade to its current status as the economic center of this world, New York has been a place to give and take. And this team means to give out punishment and take the win.
Orlando Zest - I cannot stress enough how much I want a fruit-themed team from the sunbelt.
Philadelphia Poison Ivy - The Philadelphia metro area is home to two Ivy League schools and many Ivy-covered historic sites. Now imagine if all of that ivy was really angry.
Arizona Sidewinders - You think that the snake isn't looking at you. It isn't. But you can't tell that that viper is a sidewinder. That is, until it's too late...
Portland Salmon - I like the name Salmon. I give up on being clever.

Re: AltFL - Design Thread

Nashville Fugitives - Group of poets at Vandy
New York Pizza Rats - Weirdly drawing a blank so I'll go with a potential SI Yankees rebrand
Arizona Dust Devils - In the desert (hope it doesn't infringe on ASU)
Philadelphia Brothers - City of Brotherly Love
Portland Evergreens - Seemed fitting
Orlando Citronauts - UCF's old nickname

Re: AltFL - Design Thread

Nashville Bluebirds - country music, the famous music spot, plus an animal to market to some kids. provides a potential bold color scheme.

New York Rogues - the heart of New York is tough, defiant, and pushing the limit of what is possible.

Orlando Groves - going to be a great color scheme.  I do like the Orange theme for Orlando.

Philadelphia Gladiators - the fighting city of Philadelphia.  it also has a strong Italian population.  Gladiators is a perfect name for a city with an attitude.

Arizona Lizards - I like the double Z sounds.  We could go with a specific species but I think professional football can lend to the something larger.

Portland Pumas - aliteration, native oregon animals, unused mascot (usually cougars), plus a sponsor built in.

Re: AltFL - Design Thread

Tennessee Black Bears - Tennessee is home to many bears, which are black. With Memphis not getting a spot in the league, Nashville can easily claim the entire state.

New York Paladins - Paladins is just a good name, and with how many boroughs and options for the city, a more generic name sounded like a best option.

Orlando Universals - Instead of paying tribute to the mouse, I went with homage to Universal Studios, and the NASA space exploration center. It's a two-fer.

Philadelphia Boxers - Really, because of Rocky. Something a little bit different, and gives the option to use the dog breed for imagery.

Arizona Scorpions - because you never want to encounter a scorpion, and would be a bug name, which professional sports don't really do.

Portland Pioneers - Because at the end of the Oregon Trail was Oregon in the Cascadia region, which also houses Portland.
