Re: XFL 2020

Looks like Johnny, Jameis and Colin are embarking on a redemption tour this year.

Johnny Football not looking too bad, hope he doesn't have another outburst to get kicked off another team.

With only Christian Hackenberg and Zach Mettenberger behind him on the depth chart, Express Head Coach Charlie Strong is hoping the same as well despite starting 0-3 on the season.

“Kaepernick Gets First Taste of Defeat in New League”

March 2, 2021

Seattle, WA - After an early Field goal by Giorgio Tavecchio for the Xtreme, Paxton Lynch hit Antonio Callaway for a 69 yard Touchdown pass to give the Dragons the early 6-3 lead.  Tavecchio would hit two more Field Goals on the next two possesions for an Xtreme team not used to struggling in the red zone.  Trailing 9-6, Dragon QB Paxton Lynch responded with a 4 yard Touchdown pass to WR Marlon Brown to give the Dragons the 13-9 halftime lead. After an offensive struggle of a third quarter that saw both team add only a Field Goal, Kaepernick opened the 4th quarter with the best drive of the game that resulted in a 16 yard Touchdown pass to WR Tre McBride and tying the game 16-16.  But Kaepernick left too much time on the clock and behind the huge Dragon crowd of 37,492 faitful, Paxton Lynch drove the length of the field setting up the game winning Field Goal from Elliot Fry to give the Dragons the game, 19-16.

“Geno Smith Knock off Bortles and the Undefeated Brigade at Home”

March 9, 2021

Baltimore, MD - Missed opportunities in the red zone cost the Brigade dearly on Friday Night.  The team was unable to convert short fields into Touchdowns and settled for 4 Field Goals on the night from K Caleb Sturgis. After a great first drive that ended in a Field Goal, Geno Smith had a fumbled snap for New York that the Brigade pounced on but the Brigade was only able to get another 3 points.  Geno Smith then drove the length of the field and hit athletic TE Bucky Hodges for a 23 yard score to end the first with the Guardians up 7-3.  The second quarter saw both teams move the ball pretty well through the air with both teams scoring touchdown drives making the game a 14-13 score at the half.  The third quarter was a quarter absolutely dominated by the undefeated Brigade but the team once again couldn't finish drives in the end zone, so they only added two more Field Goals from Sturgis.  This proved costly in the 4th quarter when Geno Smith hit TJ Jones for the go ahead Touchdown to TJ Jones, 20-19.  Bortles gave his team one last chance at the win but Sturgis missed a long 53 yarder with zeros on the clock.  Undefeated no more for the Baltimore Brigade.

-- (4-0)Brigade 19 - 20 Guardians(2-2)
(BALT): Blake Bortles - 197 yards, 1 TD, Devontae Booker - 33 yards, Jordan Matthews - 56 yards

“Dragons Stay Hot and Undefeated”

March 16, 2021

Arlington, TX - It looked like a promising start for the Renegades in Arlington as Landry Jones drove the length the field and Cameron Artis-Payne was able to find pay dirt.  The defense then held the Dragons offense to just a Field Goal before adding one of their own to make the game, 10-3 at the end of the first.  The Renegades defense led by Ziggy Hood and Jay Bromley in the middle made a huge four down goal line stand to get the ball back to the offense.  However, that momentum didn't last long as Landry Jones was sack in the end zone by Dragon LB Steven Johnson.  With the game now standing at 10-5, the Dragons took the ball down the short field rapidly as Paxton Lynch hit Marlon Brown down the seam for a 37 yard touchdown.  And after another short Field Goal, the Dragons had the 15-10 halftime lead.  A Landry Jones third quarter interception led to another short field Touchdown for Paxton Lynch and the Dragons.  The Renegade offense completely lost steam from that point and just gave way to another long Dragon touchdown drive to make the final score, 29-10.
