Keewatin Hockey Club
The Keewatin Hockey Club is based in Keewatin, MN (kee-WAH-tin). Keewatin is a new face in the Iron Range, just being incorporated as a city over the summer on July 31, 1906. It is still rather small, boasting a population of under 700, but it is growing every year and was already able to put together a team as is. Like other iron range towns, Keewatin is a blue collar town reliant on iron ore mining.
Their uniforms are white with kelly green cuffs, hems, and collars with solid white socks. A kelly green shield with an old english K for Keewatin sits on the front of their sweaters. The team will play their home games downtown at the Mesabi Rink which has bleacher seating for about 250 spectators.

Nashwauk Hockey Club
The Nashwauk Hockey Club is based in Nashwauk, MN (NASH-wawk). Nashwauk is a city of about 2,000 located about 5 miles west of Keewatin and was the first mining community in Itasca County. Like every other Iron Range town, it too is reliant on iron ore mining.
The team decided on red and white striped sweaters and socks for their uniforms and their home games will be played at the Nashwauk City Rink which can seat about 250.

Moving even further east we hit the North Shore Hockey League to meet the 6th founding member of the league.
Proctor Hockey Club
The Proctor Hockey Club is based in Proctor, MN. Proctor is a city of over 2,000 located immediately west of Duluth. The city is a true railway town, birthed from the railroads that transport iron ore from the range to the ports of Duluth, Superior, and Two Harbors. The town is situated in a flat piece of land which allowed for more railways to be built in Proctor instead of the steep hills of Duluth.
The team decided on orange and gold striped sweaters and socks with black numbers for their uniforms. They will play their home games at the 250 seat Proctor City Rink in downtown Proctor.

Finally we head to the border for the final 6 expansion clubs set to join the newly formed Northland Hockey League.
Baudette Hockey Club
The Baudette Hockey Club is based in Baudette, MN but also draws from the rest of Lake of the Woods County and across the border from Rainy River, ON. Baudette is a city of about 800 and is the county seat of Lake of the Woods County. The town is best known for fishing, declaring itself the “Walleye Capital of the World” due to the sheer number of walleye in the Rainy River and Lake of the Woods.
Baudette’s uniforms are primarily green with a thin white stripe across the upper chest. A BHC monogram is placed inside the chest stripe over the players hearts. There are also splashes of white on the sleeve cuffs and a stripe on the socks. The team will play their home games at 250 seat Peace Park near the confluence of the Rainy and Baudette Rivers.

Fort Frances Hockey Club
The Fort Frances Hockey Club is based in Fort Frances, ON. Fort Frances is a city of about 1,500 and is the seat of the Rainy River District of Northwestern Ontario. Located on the opposite side of the border from International Falls, Fort Frances is the first Canadian team to join the MAHL. The city has the distinction of being the first European settlement west of Lake Superior with its origins going back as far as 1731, originally built as a fort to support the fur trade with natives. The town has gone by many names over the years, finally settling on Fort Frances in 1830 after the Hudson's Bay Company built a new fur trading post and named it after Frances Ramsay Simpson, an 18-year-old who had married the Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company earlier that year. Nowadays the pulp & paper mill is the biggest industry in town, but the city is also known for incredible fishing on the Rainy River.
Their uniforms are primarily red but feature gold stripes on the sleeves and socks. A pair of maple leafs, each with the letter F inside them, sit on the front of the sweater reading FF for Fort Frances. The team will play their home games at the 250 seat Fort Frances Community Rink.

International Falls Hockey Club
The International Falls Hockey Club is based in International Falls, MN but also draws from nearby Ranier. International Falls is a village of about 1,400 and is the county seat of Koochiching County. I-Falls is practically identical to their neighbors from across the border, dependent on paper milling and fishing for their primary industries. The town is known for being one of the coldest places in the United States, having an average of 109 days a year with temperatures below freezing, earning it the nickname “Icebox of the Nation”.
For their uniforms, International Falls opted to go with navy and white stripes and they’ll play their home games at Smoky Bear Park which has bleacher seating for about 250 spectators.

Morden Hockey Club
The Morden Hockey Club is based in Morden, MB. Morden is a town of about 1,200 in the Pembina Valley of southern Manitoba, making it our second Canadian team in the MAHL. The town is a rural farming community born out of the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway building a line that passed through what would become Morden.
The team went with white uniforms that feature red collars, sleeve cuffs, and sock stripes. A big, red, old english M sits front and center on their sweaters. They will play their home games indoors at the 500 seat Morden Curling Club.

Roseau Hockey Club
The Roseau Hockey Club is based in Roseau, MN (Row-Zoe) but also represents the nearby towns of Badger & Greenbush. Located just 10 miles south of the border, Roseau is a town of about 600 and is the county seat of Roseau County. The city has long ties to the Ojibwe people who have called the area home for thousands of years. Roseau grew with the fur trade and has become a regional hub despite still being a small town.
The team decided to use a 5 pointed star for their symbol, referencing the town's unofficial nickname “The North Star City”. Their uniforms are green with thin gold stripes on the sleeves and socks. The aforementioned star is sewn on the front of the sweater in gold. They will play their home games downtown at 250 seat Roseau City Park.

Warroad Hockey Club
The Warroad Hockey Club is based in Warroad, MN. Warroad is a town of about 700 situated on the southwest corner of Lake of the Woods. The town was once one of the largest Ojibwe villages on Lake of the Woods. The Ojibwe fought a long war against the Sioux for the lake's rice fields. Occupying the prairies of the Red River Valley, the Sioux often invaded the territory by way of the Red and Roseau Rivers, a route that ended at the mouth of the Warroad River. This was the old "war road" from which the river and village derive their name. The town retains a strong Native American heritage and population to this day. Warroad is primarily reliant on the fishing industry, but lumber is also big business, bringing both the Great Northern & Canadian National Railways to town.
Their uniforms are navy, red, and white barberpole stripes with a thick white chest stripe containing a navy W for Warroad in the center. The team will play their home games at the 250 seat Warroad Area Community Rink.

And the orange and gold stripes for Proctor make them my favorite jerseys currently.
