Atlético couldn't get it done in the Geo Cup, so now we'll have to focus on making the playoff the old-fashioned way. The second half of the season starts exactly the way you want it to: with an away fixture against the top team in the table. The only advantage we might have over Harbour is that we didn't have to play in the Geo Cup Final just a few days ago. Hopefully, we can get another strong game from M Tomáš Souček, who picked up an assist against St. Mungo.

We played Harbour closer than we expected, but it wasn't enough, as our trip Down Under ended up pointless. We do get to head back home to Camp Vell this weekend, as we welcome in CR Independencia. Esplendido were able to snag a win last week to put themselves just two points behind us in the table, so both clubs will be hungry to pick up a win here. The feature for Atlético will be D Reece James, who appears to finally be fully fit after missing much of the first half. The London native got an assist against Sydney, and also had 3 tackles, 3 aerials, and 2 successful contests.

The Table following week 15:

Guess I'm the only one posting lineup graphics anymore, huh? Well anyway, Atlético lost again, falling to 10th in the table. Our tough stretch isn't likely to end this week, either, as we take on the second-best team in the league, Eye of the Sun. We're putting out a defensive lineup to try and counter Eye's offensive talent, and as it so often is, it'll be spearheaded by D Nathan Collins. Collins made impacts all over the stat sheet, including an assist and a whopping 11 clearances.

After giving my graphics team a much needed week off last week (which we won on the road against Amsterdam KVV), we head back to Cairo and welcome Atlético Barcelona to The Pyramid. I thought they'd be one of the better teams this season, but it seems things just haven't gone the way they expected. However, they're still fighting for a playoff spot, so we'll need to keep things going strong. We're featuring midfielder Matheus Nunes for this one, as last week he set up things across the board, with a pair of key passes, a shot on target, a pair of tackles won, a trio of interceptions, a couple clearances, a lone blocked shot, and an assist for funsies. #TheGoldStandard

The past two matches have not been kind to us, narrowly losing to Roma and then getting demolished by Sydney. We're now sitting in 11th and a bit behind the playoff picture, meaning we'll need to get ourselves back in last year's form to get back in. Unfortunately, we'll have to play with our team still dealing with injury and have to play Bastille, who's third in the table. We're featuring our best player from the Roma match because we want to forget about the Sydney match, as F Jean-Phillipe Mateta scored twice on three shots as our sole contributor on offense.

Following game week 16, here's the table. Literally no changes to where teams are, as the top 7 all won, and the bottom 7 all lost.

A win over Atlético Barcelona keeps us at the #2 spot on the table, and this week looks to be another big match, as we head to Seoul, South Korea to take on a team currently in a playoff spot with Bukchon Hanok Stripes. Eye of the Sun FC is firing on all cylinders, as we continue to get scoring from the entire Starting XI in star midfielder Bukayo Saka's absence, this week our top performer is Morgan Gibbs-White. Following a slow start to the season, he really picked things up during the GEO Cup and hasn't slowed down. #TheGoldStandard

Joburg was not able to get back going against Bastille, as we have not been able to secure a win since Christmas across the regular season and GEO Cup. We'll have another chance against bottom-of-the-table St. Mungo, who have had the same luck as us since the return to regular season competition. Featured for this week is star goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who secured his ninth clean sheet of the year (somehow) and notched an assist against Bastille.

Atlético continues to struggle, as we couldn't get it done against Eye. We get to come back to Camp Vell for a big game, as we face FC Alfa Roma, who just so happen to be exactly three points ahead of us in the table. Winning this would be a huge help if we still want to make a run at the postseason this year. Our top player last week was D Jarrad Branthwaite (who was actually supposed to be on our graphic the last time we played Roma, in the Geo Cup. Branthwaite made a key pass which went for an assist, while blocking 3 shots, winning 6 aerials, and making uhhhhhhh 25 clearances. Sheesh.
