Re: The AltCAA Season 2024

Another win in the Holy War has the Angels back on track and back up to .500 in conference play. We've also clinched a bowl game, but we're still hungry for a spot in the playoff. Next on the docket is a date with winless Ohio A&M, so this is one we definitely need to win. It feels silly not to spotlight RB Bhayshul Tuten and his 286-yard, 4-TD performance, but we're handing the mic to his backfieldmate Makhi Hughes, who racked up 169 yards and scored twice himself, which is even more impressive considering what Tuten was doing in the same game. With it being our penultimate home game, Hughes gets the opportunity to model the throwback unis for this one. #GoldLeaf

Re: The AltCAA Season 2024

With a loss last week against Riel, Hawaii State now sits at 8-1. We're still atop the HAC though, and looking to take the next step towards the playoffs to attempt to get that National Championship. But the penultimate regular season week sees us heading to Texas to take on Lone Star. The Panthers are in a tough spot, needing two teams to lose out, including us, for a shot at hosting a bowl game. Good news for them is that they can help their cause by beating us. But we control our own fate, as we're tied with Michigan Institutional and Minnesota A&M, and they play next week, so we win out, and thanks to tiebreakers over both MIU and MAM, we win the HAC. So we'll take it one week at a time. This week we're featuring running back Star Thomas. #FlyingHI

Re: The AltCAA Season 2024

Another tough road loss at Hallows brings us to 3-6 on the year and 1-4 in conference play. But now, we’re back at Stade Papineau to face Queen City State, who sit at 2-7. Ready to defend home turf, we’ll be in our standard navy helmet, navy jersey, navy pants, and red socks. Our featured player is wide receiver Jordan Moore, who snagged a touchdown and 28 receiving yards last game. #RenaissancePatriote

Re: The AltCAA Season 2024

Well, that sucked. Ohio A&M pulled the upset, earning their first win of the year, and officially eliminating Johns Island from ECC championship contention. There is still a path to us hosting a playoff bowl game, but we need a lot of things to break right. Most importantly, we need to win out, and we'll start with our final road game of the regular season up in Philly. Penn Comm, like us, are 6-3 overall, but unlike us, are in the thick of the fight for conference supremacy. Whoever wins also gets to clinch a spot in the postseason, while the loser falls further towards that cutoff line of the 8th seed. Other than last week's highlight, RB Makhi Hughes, the only other player on our team that didn't suck was WR Tez Johnson, who hauled in 102 yards and a TD. #GoldLeaf

Re: The AltCAA Season 2024

Guys, I'm going to TRY and outline all the playoff scenarios, but there's a lot because there are EIGHT teams that can still mathematically earn the 8th and final playoff spot.

I'm going to start with the HAC championship race and the top two spots to host a bowl game, because that's sealed up. Hawaii State had a 1 game lead on Michigan Institutional and Minnesota A&M with 1 to play. With Michigan Institutional and Minnesota A&M playing, Hawaii State is guaranteed to at least tie for the top spot, and owns the head to head tiebreaker over both teams, so Hawaii State has won the HAC and will host the Avocado Bowl. Meanwhile, the winner of Michigan Institutional and Minnesota A&M will get the second HAC guaranteed spot and will host the Harvest Bowl.

The ECC has 3 teams all with a shot at those two spots, and mathematically, any 2 can earn those spots. Hallows and Hershey are win and in, so Hallows needs to beat Ohio A&M to get in. Hershey plays the other team fighting for that last spot, Pennsylvania Commonwealth. If Hallows wins, Penn Comm needs only to win and get in via tiebreaker over Hershey. If Hallows loses, Penn Comm needs to win and then it comes to points, and top two points scorers of Hallows, Hershey, and Penn Comm host bowl games. The top team will host the Heritage Bowl, the number two team will host the Whiskey Bowl.

Johns Island, the teams that miss hosting from the previous two situations will go on the road.

Now, the number 8 seed is a BIG mess. I may miss something, but here goes, team by team.

Southern Colorado
- in with a win over Hawaii State, losses by Wichita A&M, St. Brendan's (Riel doesn't matter, as SoCo has the Head-2-Head tiebreaker over Riel)
- in with win over Hawaii State, more points than winners of Wichita A&M, St. Brendan's, and Riel
- in with loss to Hawaii State, losses by Wichita A&M, St. Brendan's and Riel, more points than those three teams AND winners from St. Laurent, Twin Cities, Lone Star, and Queen City State

Wichita A&M
- in with win over Lone Star, loss by any 2 of three from SoCo, St. Brendan's, and Riel (has Head-2-Head tiebreaker over all three teams)
- in with win over Lone Star, more points than winners of SoCo, St. Brendan's, and Riel
- in with loss to Lone Star, losses by SoCo, St. Brendan's and Riel, more points than those three teams AND winners from St. Laurent, Twin Cities, Lone Star, and Queen City State

St. Brendan's
- in with win over St. Laurent, losses by SoCo, Wichita A&M, and Riel
- in with win over St. Laurent, more points than winners of SoCo, Wichita A&M, and Riel
- in with loss to St. Laurent, losses by SoCo, Wichita A&M, and Riel, more points than those teams AND winners of St. Laurent, Twin Cities, Lone Star, and Queen City State.

Riel
- in with win over Twin Cities, loss by SoCo, Wichita A&M, and St. Brendan's
- in with win over Twin Cities, more points than winners of SoCo, Wichita A&M, and St. Brendan's
- in with loss to Twin Cities, losses by SoCo, Wichita A&M, and St. Brendan's, more points than those three teams and winners of St. Laurent, Twin Cities, Lone Star, and Queen City State

St. Laurent
- in with win over St. Brendan's, losses by Southern Colorado, Wichita A&M, and Riel, and more points than those 4 and any winners from Twin Cities, Lone Star, and Queen City State.

Twin Cities
- in with win over Riel, losses by Southern Colorado, Wichita A&M, and St. Brendan's, and more points than those 4 and any winners from St. Laurent, Lone Star, and Queen City State.

Lone Star
- in with win over Wichita A&M, losses by Southern Colorado, St. Brendan's, and Riel, and more points than those 4 and any winners from St. Laurent, Twin Cities, and Queen City State.

Queen City State
- in with win over Johns Island, losses by Southern Colorado, Wichita A&M, St. Brendan's, and Riel, and more points than those 4 and any winners from St. Laurent, Twin Cities, and Lone Star.

Finally, Ohio A&M is still eliminated.
