Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Grand Rapids also made their first adjustments to their uniform, the first changes in their 35 year history. Their new uniforms aren't all that drastic of a change, but the away uniform gets quite a makeover. The home jersey added sleeve numbers and that is the only change, while the away also added more color to the top part of the jersey.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

The Sioux Falls Packers are making the move to a new league this year, and to celebrate this they decided to rebrand their original, simple look for something more unique.

They scrapped the SF logo in favor of a roundel with a hog head in the center.

The Packers also updated their uniforms, switching up the striping by adding a third stripe, and making the shoulder yokes colored.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

This has been the biggest offseason for the Cloquet Broncos by a long shot. They are moving into a new arena this season and decided that now was a good time to refresh their identity.

They updated their horseshoe C logo and altered the shades of purple and gold. "Broncos" is now written in the negative space of the horse shoe.

The new logo came with new uniforms as well. The striping is completely redone, the new colors are used, and the number font is changed to better match the logo.

This isn't the end for Cloquet though, they also decided that no Bronco will ever wear Brady Millen's number 3 ever again, putting it in the rafters of their new home.

And finally, the Broncos also announced a new rivalry trophy that they will fight for against the Duluth Voyageurs, the Rusty Skate.

Fairmont is a town with just over 10,000 located in Martin County. They are set to join the Blue Earth Hockey League this upcoming season. They will play their home games at the Martin County Fairgrounds.

They will be called the "Hawks", named after the predatory bird that is common in the area. Their colors are maroon and gold.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Also joining the Blue Earth Hockey League is Faribault (Fair-boh). Faribault is decent sized town of over 16,000 in Rice County. They will be sharing a rink with Shattuck, a private school known for producing some of the greatest hockey players in the world (although not at this point in time).

They will be called the "Flickertails" which is a nickname for a species of gopher native to the region. Their colors are blue and yellow.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

As previously mentioned, there is a new league that will begin play in the upcoming 1969/70 season. The league is called the "Southwest Hockey Association" and is headquartered in Sioux Falls, SD. There were 3 teams from the Blue Earth Hockey League to form the SHA, they are the Sioux Falls Packers, Mason City Musicians, and Marshall Pheasants. The two other teams are joining via expansion.

Up first is the City of Brookings, SD. Brookings has a population of over 13,000 and is the home of South Dakota State University. The Buffaloes will play their home games at the 750 seat Brookings Memorial Arena.

They will be called the "Buffaloes", named after the powerful animal that is native to the area. Their colors are brown and red.
