BAY AREA IS NOW SAN JOSE
The Sea Lions announced that they will be making a minor change to their name for 2026-27, going from the Bay Area Sea Lions to the San Jose Sea Lions. This move was done to make the name seem less "clunky", says owner William Seale.
FIRST CROP OF EXPANSION TEAMS REVEALED
The UBL revealed the identities of the first two teams that will be joining the league as part of its expansion scheme, with two new teams coming to the Eastern Conference this summer.
The Boston Corinthians will be joining the Ruth Division and playing out of TD Garden, home of the NBA Celtics and NHL Bruins. Their colors are orange and white, and their icon is a corinthian helmet. Owner Ron Proud chose the name to symbolize the strength and might of his home city, which he hopes will bleed into its new 200Ball team.
The Tennessee Tri-Stars are set to join the Cobb Division, playing out of Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, which they will share with the NHL Predators. Their colors of mustard yellow and navy blue are also shared with the Preds, and the name is derived from the distinctive icon on the Tennessee flag, which also serves as the team icon.
(Here are some sigs for any new fans of those two teams!)
