1977 Season

The Razors repeated atop the table in the regular season, compiling an 18-8 record, including sweeps of the Dachshunds, Monocles, and Crows. Evans Strong and Carl Baker remained one of the most entertaining duos in the OBA, cruising to All-League First Team honors. Desherd City rebounded from a disappointing 1976 season, finishing tied with the Razors. Murdlock's sweep of the Dogs catapulted the Razors into first place. Mescudi, led by MVP Hitts Weckerthaul, qualified for the postseason for their third year straight. Weckerthaul looked as formidable as he always had, totaling 25 points per game. Andre Oz rallied The Team of the River Galloway into the fourth spot. As The Team and the Irving Crows split the regular season, the next tiebreaker was overall point differential. With just one more point than the Crows, The Team of the River Galloway was able to secure the fourth seed. This also marks the ninth straight season for The Team without a losing record.

Quentin Crown was exceptional for the Irving Crows. Unfortunately, they lost Kermitt Duvall for the final two weeks of the season, going from 15-9 and controlling their own destiny to 15-11 and just outside of the playoffs. The Bay Bishops severely underwhelmed after their second place finish the year prior. Gin City looked okay and still maintained the reputation of having the best concession stand in the league. McQuelsey, Luva and Boothtown were all mediocre. Ensylvan, knocking on the door of the playoffs the previous two seasons, fell to 10 wins, barely placing them above the Murdlock Monocles. The Ricos fell flat, and the Choristers... well... they stunk.

"But," Weckerthaul acknowledged in postgame interview, taco in hand, "Remolvo does always have the best national anthem performers. You can't deny that."

1977 OCS Playoffs

The stage is set for another exciting OCS Playoffs! Will Murdlock redeem themselves after falling well short of the 1976 title? Will Desherd City and Brian Williams outlast the back-to-back-to-back MVP Hitts Weckerthaul and the Moonmen in the first round? Will "them Moonbois" accomplish what has never been accomplished before in a 3-peat? Can The Team of The River Galloway continue their winning ways and reclaim the title of the team with the most titles?

1977 OCS Finals

IT'S A THREE-PEAT!

The Razors played the reigning champions close as the score was 45-40 at half, the Moonmen leading. Carl Baker and Evans Strong combined for 50 of Murdlock's 80 points. Hitts Weckerthaul once again, however, put on a show for the ages. He scored an absurd 48 points and dished out an additional 11 assists. It was, to this date, the best individual performance in the short history of the OCS Finals. Nick Laundale was no slouch either, recording a double-double for them Moonbois. With this victory, the Moonmen join The Team of the River Galloway as the only squads to win three titles. Weckerthaul also becomes the first player to win multiple OCS Finals MVP awards.

Once again, the team celebration was held at the legendary TacoTown.

1978 Season


Ensylvan surprised everyone with their rise to the top of the table! This is the first time having the outright best record and the league, and it is their second playoff appearance. Previously, they lost to McQuelsey in the 1972 OCS Finals in a very intense matchup that has only fueled their rivalry. It took a team effort to take the top spot as the Drakes were led by Vernon Sharp and Willis Patrick. Desherd City and The Team both finished with 16-10 records, the Dachshunds winning the tiebreaker by virtue of a sweep. Andre Oz had another spectacular campaign en route to collecting his third MVP award, becoming the second player behind Hitts Weckerthaul to accomplish that feat. It is interesting to note that in the league's first ten seasons, four players have won MVPs.

The Bay Bishops are back in the playoffs, sweeping the Irving Ricos in the regular season to clinch the final playoff spot. Despite have their best season to date, the Ricos simply did not have enough. Luva, led by Derrick Houser, had a solid year. The Razors disappointed, falling back out of the playoffs despite great seasons from Carl Baker and Evans Strong. Both the Mobsters and Crows also fell short of expectations, as many thought both teams would leapfrog into the upper echelon of league talent. Remolvo, with the addition of small forward Harlow Rivers and solid play of Michael Williams, improved drastically and finished well above their last place position they had occupied the two previous seasons. Mescudi struggled through injuries, although Weckerthaul had another phenomenal season on his way to First Team honors. Thus, a four-peat was not in the cards for them Moonbois. Both the Woodpeckers and Monocles were clunkers, and Gin City lost their last 10 games on the way to the basement.

1978 OCS Finals

Oofda... yeah... this was ugly from the jump. The Bishops couldn't make a shot if the hoop had a 40-foot circumference. The Team zoomed out to a 24-2 lead in the first half and never looked back. Andre Oz put on display one of the greatest Finals performances ever seen, dropping 45 points on his way to the OCS MVP Award. Oz joins Hitts Weckerthaul of Mescudi as the only players in the league's short-lived history to win multiple OCS Finals MVPs. The Team then hung their latest championship banner from the rafters.

1979 Season

After finishing third from the bottom last season, the McQuelsey Woodpeckers surged to the top of the standings behind the excellent play of Deacon Moss and raw newcomer Bryson McMurray. With stout defense and a high-powered transition-heavy offense, few teams were able to stop the Woodpeckers. After a disappointing campaign, the Razors find themselves back in the playoffs for the third time in four years. This has been their best stretch of seasons as a club, as Carl Baker and Evans Strong showcased some of the best play of their respective careers. Adding another accomplishment to his storied career, Andre Oz becomes the third player in league history to win consecutive MVPs, the others being Baker and Hitts Weckerthaul of Mescudi. The Team has a tough road ahead of them if they want to defend their title. Brian Williams and the Dogs of Desherd City took control of the fourth and final playoff spot.

Boothtown could have claimed that postseason berth with a win in the last week of the season, but failed to do so as they were upset by Gin City. The Bay and the Irving Ricos put together disappointing seasons, as both hoped to leapfrog into the playoffs. Mescudi struggled out of the gate, as they had missed Weckerthaul for the first few games of the year. Although the Irving Crows were supported by Quentin Crown and Kermitt Duvall, their defense was abysmal led to them losing more games than they should have. Luva missed the playoffs for a third consecutive season. Although Remolvo did not achieve a winning record in 1979, the improvements were apparent with the versatility of the young Harlow Rivers. The biggest shock of the season was how truly awful the Ensylvan Drakes were, as they simply couldn't capture last year's magic. Injuries and a lack of chemistry, combined with some off-court issues among the team, contributed to their downfall. Gin City was terrible, and the Monocles held up the rear. Cameron Murphy Jr. needs help in the nation's capital city.
