If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time the Bavarians have had a power ranking! They've already beaten a downriver foe, so they should be ready for anything.

Not quite, the Diamonds went into the playoffs 2 years ago ranked 19th, but lost in the first round to Rochester. Bloomington will be tough, but they don't have as much playoff experience, so its anyone's game. If New Ulm gets to the Super Series who knows what will happen.

Grand Marais and Silver Bay are both gorgeous. GM's logo is so great, and SB's color scheme (and layered diagonal "Silver Bay") are beautiful.

I really like the Bulldogs update. It cleans up the muddled logo they had before.

Shoot. I was mistaken.

In other news, I like the new identities. I am a personal fan of the color orange and enjoy Silver Bay's use of it. The Bulldogs logo is better than the purple blob and is likely no longer the worst. Great job overall!

Thank you, I'm glad you like the new identities! I also would say that the layered Silver Bay is already one of my favorite looks that I'm guessing will stick around for quite a while. I think the simplified Bulldog logo works better for Sauk Rapids and isn't too modern for the time period.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

And I know they're in the same league as my Superior Lakers, but can I get a Silver Bay signature?

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

1967 Kellogg Cup Playoffs; First Round Day 2

Brainerd Lumberjacks vs Osseo Screaming Eagles
This was about as textbook of a game from Thief River as you can get. The defense was good, not spectacular, but they held Osseo to only 2 goals. The real strength comes from their offense, striking five times and sending the Jacks to the second round.

Rochester Robins vs Fergus Falls Cyclones
The Cyclones got the scoring started on the road, leading 1-0 after the first. The Robins woke up in the second though, completely carrying the flow of play. Fergus is lucky they only allowed two during the onslaught they faced in the second. The Clones regrouped between periods, getting an ear full from their coach, managing to get a couple good opportunities including getting robbed by the Robins goalie who dove back with his stick to make keep the one timer out of the back of the net. The third ended 2-2 and we needed overtime. The momentum from their game tying goal was beginning to wear off while the Robins were being given a boost from the over 4,000 in attendance at the Rochester Mayo Civic Auditorium. The birds began to get some open looks, one of which was shot just over the leg pad of the goalie, into the net. With the Lumberjacks winning, this was the last MAHL game played at the historic Rochester Mayo Civic Auditorium as both the Robins and Mustangs are set to move into the newly built Graham Arena next season.

St. Paul Victorias vs St. Cloud Bearcats
The V's struck early, adding to their lead right before the midway point in the first. St. Cloud finally responded on the powerplay in the third, but St. Paul delivered the final dagger on a 3 on 1 with just under 5 minutes left to take a 3-1 lead which would prove to be the final score.

Sioux Falls Packers vs Edina Cake Eaters
I hope you like goals! They were common and frequent in this one as the Packers and Cake Eaters exchanged goals back and forth until Edina rallied together 3 unanswered goals in the third to come back from being down 4-2 after 2 for a final score of 5-4 in favor of Edina.

Baudette Walleye vs International Falls Ice
The surprise story of the season will continue after all. The Walleye came out of nowhere to win the Northland title and many questioned if they would be able to keep up the unexpected play in the playoffs. Baudette answered that in convincing fashion on a frozen Lake of the Woods, besting their league rivals for only the 5th time in franchise history in a 4-1 pounding of the Ice.

Duluth Hornets vs Hibbing Greyhounds
After a scoreless first, the Hounds got a breakaway chance which they converted on, taking the lead in Duluth. The Hornets wouldn't respond until the third, but they would waste no time getting another. Scoring 21 seconds after their first goal to jump into the lead in the blink of an eye. A shocked Hibbing squad didn't know what was going on, and Duluth kept the puck in the Greyhound zone for as much time as they could, running the clock until it finally sounded sending the Hornets past the first round for the first time in nearly a decade.

Winnipeg Monarchs vs Ely Black Bears
They meet again... The Monarchs and Black Bears have formed quite a rivalry in their first and only 2 meetings to this point, all eyes were looking north at this one. The two time defending champs appeared snake bit in the opening period, missing open nets and making bad passes, even allowing Ely to get a 2 on 1 which they would turn into a 1-0 lead after 1. This was beginning to look like 1963 all over again. Winnipeg managed to get rid of whatever curse prevented them from scoring in the first, knotting the game at one, and allowing the thousands in attendance to finally take a breath. The physical play of Winnipeg hadn't seemed to effect Ely the way it had most others, perhaps due to Ely's reputation as a bit of a physical team themselves, but the hitting began to finally show signs of slowing down Ely in the third. Winnipeg was looking like they had in the first, getting chance after chance but not being able to bury it. Finally a shot from the side boards was stopped, but the rebound went to a Monarch who fired it into the open goal. That would be the final goal of the game as the Monarchs would squeak their way past the pesky Black Bears from Ely.

Thief River Falls Railers vs Virginia Royals
You a fan of goals? Tough, because the Railers and Royals didn't want to give you any. They didn't even seem to want to give themselves any, with the game still scoreless until the Railers took a shot from the point that was deflected on goal, finally ending the game in the third overtime and sending Thief River Falls to the second round.

Let me know what you think, comments are appreciated!

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Everything's Great as usual. Something funky is going on in the Robins-Cyclones write up though.
