Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Our final expansion team comes from the west and is our first team from South Dakota. Sioux Falls is a major city located just outside the MN state line and has a population of nearly 70,000. The Packers will be the final team set to join the Blue Earth League, they were approached by the other 4 teams as they needed one more team to be able to split off from the Valley.

The team will be called the "Packers" in ode to the cities meat packing plants that have made the city what it is now. Their colors are maroon and white and their logo is a simple block SF for Sioux Falls.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Let me know what you think, comments are appreciated!

St. Peter is a town with a population of over 8,000 located north of Mankato. St. Peter is one of the most historic cities in the state and it was very nearly the state capital rather than St. Paul. St. Peter will join Mankato, Albert Lea, and New Ulm in forming the Blue Earth Hockey League.

The team will be called the "Governors" as a nod to the towns history of producing Governors (1 Territorial Governor and 4 State Governors). The Govs colors are red, white and blue.

I dig the Governors' identity.  Hopefully they've got a jersey that's a little unique to others in the future.  For now,  I'm cool with it.

Anyone got a banner?

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Oh boy, with a new league I get to pick a new team to cheer for per my own rules for myself! Not sure which I’d go for though.... Moose seems obvious because of my history with moose teams, but Sioux Falls seems to have a lot of potential in their identity.

There has been a lot of monograms in this batch of teams, and I think you’ve done a good job of  giving yourself room for identity progression going forward with them. I think Anoka’s “AW” is sharp and would be one that I could see holding its place because of how strong the mark is. For Northfield, I am waiting for the day they get a Jesse James inspired logo. Their old west branding gives a new look to the league and I think they will do a good job of owning it as theirs.

The best of the bunch is St. Peter. Names like that get me excited for a team because of how unique it is to the market (kind of reminds me of the ambassadors in my series). They are underused and sound nice, giving inspiration to an awesome logo. Also love red, white and blue no matter how much it is used in sports!

For the Packers, I like the colors and the name. I am hoping in the future they get creative with their logos, maybe give a “what could have been” if Green Bay’s mark wasn’t so iconic. When it comes to fiction, I do wonder about the potential dominance of this large city in a league with such tiny clubs. It has to give some advantage right? The city is no stranger to hockey so they must have plenty of players looking to take their shot at a Minnesota heavy league.

Thank you, just checked out the Wiki for the first time and I'm blown away!

Everyone should go check it out if you're interested in learning more about each teams history and what not.

Glad you like them, I tried to go with a classic hockey jersey look for their original uniforms but I don't expect these to be permanent by any means.

I'm not sure what the banner thing means but if you meant a sig I could mock one up.

If you want to pick a contender from the Blue Earth League I would suggest either Mankato or Sioux Falls since they are the two biggest markets in the league. I will say however that due to Sioux Falls location so far west of the rest of the league I wouldn't be surprised if they were to split into their own league in a few years with teams closer to them...

I'm not sure what it was about monograms this year but I do have "normal" logos for each team planned already. A Jesse James style logo would be interesting for sure and I expect Anoka to keep the AW logo, at least in some capacity, going forward.

I also really like the Governors name, it was actually one of the first teams I had come up with when I began this way back.

I already have a logo mocked up for the Packers (Oink oink) that I expect will replace the simple block letters sooner than later. Since the Packers were a late addition to the league they had to just throw something together and decided to just use the cities initials. As for the size of the city, it is definitely a big plus and the Packers should be considered a contender before they've even played a game.

Headed to Minneapolis next weekend (home of the Bruins, Vulcans and Mighty Millers) for a concert...as I go around the city, I plan to visit a few sites which host these teams in your universe (And It is gonna feel so alive to me!)

Please just randomly talk to strangers about how awesome it was in 19XX to see the Vulcans and Millers play, and treat it as 100% real to the locals.

A local act by the name of Christina Sophia (who I've been a fan of for a while) at the Underground Artist Cafe...also on the card is Why So Serious Ent. and Cariah Brinae.
