D'oh! Sorry about that! My brain must have farted when I asked that, LOL.

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

1964 Week 5

Ottawa Royals - 22, Boston Independents - 18 - Royals Stadium at Brewer Park - July 10, 1964 - 7 PM ET - FNF - Weather: Clear - TV: Benjamin O’Donnell and William Arland
1st Q
3-0 OTT - FG K Ira Foster
3-3 BOS - FG K Johnnie Berg
2nd Q
6-3 OTT - FG K Ira Foster
9-3 OTT - FG K Ira Foster
9-10 BOS - RTD RB Kendall Morgan
3rd Q
15-10 OTT - RTD RB Corbyn Knight
4th Q
15-16 BOS - PTD QB Nathaniel Braddock -> WR Evan Clanton
15-18 BOS - 2PT RB Kendall Morgan
22-18 OTT - PTD QB Jean Matieau -> WR Marshall Leonard

QB Jean Matieau would give Boston a bit of a taste of their own medicine with a beautiful game-winning drive to upset the division leaders.
Braddock’s 4th quarter comebacks have become a trend for the Independents, but Matieau showed that he is just as capable to pull it off for the Royals, giving us a classic battle between two likely legends.
It was a defensive game in the first half with the Royals grabbing a pair of turnovers from S Randall Green and LB John MacDonald.
Boston would have their own success defensively with another LB Konrad Aust fumble and DB Lawrence Ralph interception.

Buffalo Blue Wings - 30, Louisville Thunder - 10 - Milton Charles Stadium - July 11, 1964 - 3 PM ET - Weather: Partly Cloudy- TV: Jerry Goldbridge and Jackie Calhoon
1st Q
0-3 LOU - FG K Frank Hughes
3-3 BUF - FG K Ryan Perch
2nd Q
10-3 BUF - RTD RB Jimmy Golden
17-3 BUF - PTD QB Charles Lemieux -> WR Zachariah Pembroke
3rd Q
20-3 BUF - FG K Ryan Perch
23-3 BUF - FG K Ryan Perch
4th Q
30-3 BUF - RTD RB Jimmy Golden
30-10 LOU - PTD QB Leonidas Dumont -> WR Sammy Moss

Buffalo rebounded from their tough loss to the Steelheads by blowing the doors off of the Thunder.
Louisville scored first and last, but allowing 30 straight points was not ideal for staying in the game.
Buffalo’s defence got the chance to shine with DL Lonnie Vincent grabbing 2 sacks and a forced fumble and DB Erza Power Reeling in a pick.

London Tigers - 28, Toronto Steelheads - 31 - Western Fair Stadium - July 11, 1964 - 7 PM ET - SNF - Weather: Partly Cloudy - TV: Bob Litchfield and Eric O’Brian
1st Q
0-7 TOR - RTD RB Max Tracy
7-7 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> TE Tranquille Rousseau
2nd Q
7-14 TOR - RTD RB Tommy Allen
14-14 LDN - RTD RB Clifford Russell
3rd Q
14-17 TOR - FG K Bob Randall
21-17 LDN - RTD RB Austin Andrews
4th Q
21-24 TOR - PTD QB Todd Baker -> WR Edmund Landry
28-24 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Jack Duncan
28-31 TOR - PTD QB Todd Baker -> WR Edmund Landry

The Steelheads pulled off yet another upset in a shootout with their southern Ontario counterpart creating the roots for a potential great rivalry.
RB Austin Andrews was able to get into the endzone for the first time in the NAAF getting a few more snaps for the Tigers.
DB Jackson Miles was able to come down with a pick, however, DB Orville Blake would quickly grab one right back for the Steelheads.
The Steelheads’ third straight win is showing that they have a team that could legitimately compete for a playoff spot this season.

Providence Gold Stars - 27, Montreal Rouge - 34 - New Providence Stadium - July 12, 1964 - 1 PM ET - Weather: Cloudy - TV: EN Bob Walton and Steven Kelly, FR Cyril Etienne and Quinton Jacques
1st Q
7-0 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Owen Paisley
7-7 MTL - PTD QB Gene Bishop -> WR Taylor Karis
7-10 MTL - FG K Arthur Kettinger
2nd Q
10-10 PRO - FG K Maurice Lafayette
17-10 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Cedric Peterson
3rd Q
17-17 MTL - RTD RB Scott Mallard-White
17-24 MTL - PTD QB Gene Bishop -> WR Derek Cross
20-24 PRO - FG K Maurice Lafayette
4th Q
20-27 MTL - FG K Arthur Kettinger
27-27 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Ben Roland
27-34 MTL - PTD QB Gene Bishop -> WR Derek Cross

An offensive duel ended with QB Gene Bishop getting the upper hand on a game-winning touchdown pass to WR Derek Cross.
Providence was able to stick right with the Rouge, O’Rourke even managed to find all 3 of his favourite targets for touchdowns once again, however, it just wasn’t enough.
DB Neville Falkner was able to get an interception on the day, but Montreal’s defence was slightly better with DB Quentin Xavier and S Garet deVale each getting interceptions.

Halifax Mariners - 10, Long Island Raiders - 17 - Atlantic Stadium - July 12, 1964 - 5 PM ET - Weather: Partly Cloudy - TV: George Leblanc and Kevin Holcombs
1st Q
3-0 HFX - FG K Elvis Franklin
2nd Q
3-7 LI - RTD RB Dareion Fields
3rd Q
3-14 LI - RTD RB Dareion Fields
3-17 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
4th Q
10-17 HFX - RTD RB Ronald O’Sullivan

The Raiders were able to pick up their 3rd straight win over the now 0-4 Mariners.
Dareion Fields once again led the way for the Raiders’ offence getting to the endzone twice.
RB Ronald O’Sullivan had the lone touchdown for the Mariners after getting a few more snaps late in the contest to try and give the Mariners some life.
There is potential for Halifax to make a switch to QB Michael Benedict after the 4th straight loss, as Buck Murphy hasn’t been able to get the team over the top so far.

1964 Week 6

Montreal Rouge - 27, London Tigers - 17 - Mount Royal Stadium - July 17, 1964 - 7 PM ET - FNF - Weather: Clear - TV: FR Cyril Etienne and Quinton Jacques, EN George Leblanc and Kevin Holcombs
1st Q
3-0 MTL - FG K Arthur Kettinger
3-7 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Max Sutton
2nd Q
10-7 MTL - RTD RB Scott Mallard-White
17-7 MTL - PTD QB Gene Bishop -> WR Derek Cross
3rd Q
20-7 MTL - FG K Arthur Kettinger
20-10 LDN - FG K Nimrod Handsworth
4th Q
27-10 MTL - RTD RB Scott Mallard-White
27-17 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Russell Wilcox

The Rouge came through with another strong win to make it 3 in a row.
London’s offence struggled against the Rouge defence that stepped it up against the defending champs.
DL Hubert Tessier and LB Sam Fitzroy each had a forced fumble while DB Jared Francis had an interception.
QB Gene Bishop has looked really calm throughout the start of the season showing a bit of maturity as he hopes to get the Rouge back to the McCallister Cup.

Indiana Victors - 0, Providence Gold Stars - 31 - Victory Stadium - July 18, 1964 - 3 PM ET - Weather: Partly Cloudy - TV: Harold Mansfield and Jim Earnest
1st Q
0-7 PRO - DTD INT DB Neville Falkner
2nd Q
0-10 PRO - FG K Maurice Lafayette
0-17 PRO - RTD RB Rashed Smith
3rd Q
0-24 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Cedric Peterson
0-31 PRO - DTD INT DB Cameron Taylor
4th Q

Indiana made a switch at QB to Mike Key, and it did not pay off, in fact, it was a horrendous showing where the Victors turned the ball over 7 times.
Key himself had 4 interceptions before Painter was back in the game for the 4th quarter.
DB Neville Falkner had 2 of the picks while DB Cameron Taylor and S Cal Clemmons had the other 2.
LB Victor Falknersteig had a forced fumble while both DL Calias McDonough and DL Craig White had the last two.
The Gold Stars didn’t have to do too much offensively, only scoring 17-points in the game.
In the end, the Victors have a lot of questions about how the team has not only shown zero improvement but even having apparently taken a step back; it will be seen if there are any changes that come this season.

Boston Independents - 28, Halifax Mariners - 7 - Richardson Stadium - July 18, 1964 - 7 PM ET - SNF - Weather: Rain - TV: Benjamin O’Donnell and Jim Earnest
1st Q
7-0 BOS - RTD RB Kendall Morgan
2nd Q
14-0 BOS - PTD QB Nathaniel Braddock -> TE Willis Harrington
21-0 BOS - RTD RB Kendall Morgan
3rd Q
21-7 HFX - PTD QB Michael Benedict -> WR Joshua Lafleur
4th Q
28-7 BOS - RTD RB Kendall Morgan

Boston rebounded from their loss to the Royals with a strong win over the Mariners.
The Mariners did start QB Michael Benedict for the first time this season, and he played alright but struggled at times against a solid performance from the Boston defence.
RB Kendall Morgan had a solid day with 3 touchdowns, which some did not see coming from an often underrated RB.
DB Mordecai King and DB Clinton Gates both had picks for the Independents, while DB Joe Robinson was able to steal one back for the Mariners.

Toronto Steelheads - 34, Louisville Thunder - 33 - Anderson Stadium - July 19, 1964 - 2 PM ET - Weather: Partly Cloudy- TV: Bob Litchfield and Eric O’Brian
1st Q
0-7 LOU - RTD RB Rodney Clark
3-7 TOR - FG K Bob Randall
3-14 LOU - RTD RB Rodney Clark
2nd Q
3-17 LOU - FG K Frank Hughes
10-17 TOR - RTD RB Max Tracy
10-24 LOU - PTD QB Leonidas Dumont -> WR Piers Key
13-24 TOR - FG K Bob Randall
3rd Q
13-27 LOU - FG K Frank Hughes
20-27 TOR - KRTD WR Dwayne Alexander
20-30 LOU - FG K Frank Hughes
4th Q
27-30 TOR - RTD RB Max Tracy
27-33 LOU - FG K Frank Hughes
34-33 TOR - PTD QB Todd Baker -> WR Samuel Petri

The Steelheads pulled off yet another miraculous win coming back late against the Thunder.
Despite being down 13-27 in the 3rd, they would manage to come all the way back following a WR Dwayne Alexander kick-return touchdown.
Louisville was certainly not happy about the tough loss which is their 3rd straight after a strong start earlier in the season.
Toronto’s defence deserves a lot of praise for their play in the second half, limiting the Thunder to just 9 points overall.
QB Todd Baker continues to prove that he is a pretty solid QB and can tango with the rest of the NAAF starters.

Toronto looking like the surprise of the season. Interesting to see if they can keep it up.

“Uh-oh, danger.” - All of the NAAF teams that existed prior to the 1964 season watching Toronto gain steam.

1964 Week 7

London Tigers - 21, Long Island Raiders - 23 - Western Fair Stadium - July 24, 1964 - 7 PM ET - FNF - Weather: Clear - TV: George Leblanc and Kevin Holcombs
1st Q
0-3 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
7-3 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Max Sutton
2nd Q
7-10 LI - RTD RB Dareion Fields
7-13 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
3rd Q
14-13 LDN - RTD RB Clifford Russell
14-16 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
4th Q
14-23 LI - PTD QB Stanley Troyer -> WR Casey Coleman
21-23 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Max Sutton

The Raiders held off the Tigers’ comeback in an old West Division reunion to win their 4th straight.
Stanley Troyer threw the game-winning touchdown to WR Casey Coleman who made a fantastic catch with DB Jackson Miles right in his face.
The game only featured a single turnover with DB Deon Wiggins getting a forced fumble off of RB Clifford Russell.

Halifax Mariners - 19, Ottawa Royals - 14 - Atlantic Stadium - July 25, 1964 - 3 PM ET - Weather: Cloudy - TV: Benjamin O’Donnell and William Arland
1st Q
0-7 OTT - RTD RB Corbyn Knight

2nd Q
10-7 HFX - RTD RB Stavros Black
3rd Q
13-7 HFX - FG K Elvis Franklin
13-14 OTT - RTD RB Corbyn Knight
4th Q
19-14 HFX - PTD QB Michael Benedict -> WR Joshua Lafleur

The Mariners finally ended their winless season following a strong 4th quarter that saw QB Michael Benedict lead a game-winning drive with 5 minutes to go.
Benedict seems to be proving to be a little better than QB Buck Murphy so far, but there is still a lot of time left in the season.
Ottawa struggled with several injuries which led to some miscommunications throughout the game.

Toronto Steelheads - 13, Indiana Victors - 16 - Anderson Stadium - July 25, 1964 - 7 PM ET - SNF - Weather: Partly Cloudy - TV: Bob Litchfield and Eric O’Brian
1st Q
3-0 TOR - FG K Bob Randall
2nd Q
3-3 IND - FG K Ross Poindexter
10-3 TOR - RTD RB Tommy Allen
3rd Q
10-6 IND - FG K Ross Poindexter
10-13 IND - PTD QB Lyle Painter -> WR Ed Edwards
4th Q
13-13 TOR - FG K Bob Randall
13-16 IND - FG K Ross Poindexter

With QB Lyle Painter back in the starting role, the Victors would be able to put an end to their winless season and surprisingly stop the Steelheads’ win streak.
Painter was a little more aggressive in the game leading to an interception, however, he didn’t let it faze him and he pulled out the big win.
Toronto looks a little flat, as it seems like they have fallen into playing at their opponents' level.
Todd Baker also struggled with a pair of interceptions and a fumble on the day.
DB Kelly Kirkland and S Tom Parrish had interceptions on the day while DL William Sanderson had the forced fumble.

Buffalo Blue Wings - 35, Boston Independents - 17 - Milton Charles Stadium - July 26, 1964 - 2 PM ET - Weather: Clear - TV: Jerry Goldbridge and Jackie Calhoon
1st Q
7-0 BUF - RTD RB Jimmy Golden

28-10 BOS - RTD RB Kendall Morgan
4th Q
28-17 BOS - PTD QB Nathaniel Braddock -> WR Chester Bennett
35-17 BUF - RTD RB Jimmy Golden

The Blue Wings put on an offensive onslaught against the Independents, headlined by RB Jimmy Golden’s 3 touchdowns performance.
Boston struggled to move the ball themselves with Buffalo having a good defensive day backed by the loud hometown crowd.
DB Ezra Power had a pick and LB Orion Carter had a forced fumble for the Blue Wings.

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

So, I guess we're just garbage all of a sudden? 3 straight losses as defending champs doesn't look too good.

I mean the Tigers started 1-5 last season and won, can't count them out quite yet.

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

In the NAAF, are the goal posts still on the goal line, or have they been moved to the back of the end zones?

Also, has the Y-shaped goal post been invented yet, or are teams still using the H-shaped posts?

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

Another excellent week for Jimmy Golden, loving every second of it!  Also enjoying the Benedict/Murphy QB battle of mediocrity for Halifax, lmao!
