The figurative draft stage lights up to reveal a young, shaggy-haired, bespectacled college student wearing the tux he had previously worn on prom night. At the podium, he holds a small index card, and clears his throat.
“With the 3rd overall pick of the AltFL Rookie Draft, the San Antonio Phantoms select DeVonta Smith, wide receiver, from the University of Alabama.”
The crowd went wild at the announcement, as it should have.
The guy on stage interrupts the revelry to say “now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a team to rebuild. Also, I can use Fantrax now. Yay.”
