2000 NFL Season
Eastern Conference
In the 1999 season, the Atlantic Division had seen every team with a winning season. The Bay State Patriots took the division, while the 11-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the third seed. In the 2000 season, there was a three way race for the division title. In first finished the Washington Redskins, at 11-5, ahead of the 10-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the previous year, the 7-9 Giants had upset the 11-5 Buccaneers in a close playoff game, but the Giants had been felled by the Patriots, 17-0 in the Eastern Conference Final. This season, the Buccaneers would finish one game out of the playoffs, though the Eagles held the tie breaker if they had the same record. In third place, were the 9-7 Miami Dolphins, who showed some signs of life early on, but were out of the race by week 14. In fourth, the defending Eastern Conference champion Bay State Patriots finished at 6-10, in what would be Drew Bledsoes last year as a starter, and the Patriots second to last in the Atlantic Division. The Patriots, like their former division rival the Colts, would be relocated to a new division in 2002, when the two expansion teams (Jacksonville and Houston) would begin play. With the Jacksonville team playing in the Atlantic, the Patriots would play in the North Division. And in last, are the lowly Baltimore Bombers, who at 4-12, are the second worst team in the league. With the division title, the Washington Redskins won the right to host the Eastern Conference Playoff.
In the North Division, the 1999 season was a terrible one. No single team had a winning record, and the 7-9 New York Giants would win the division. Though the Giants would win an upset against Tampa Bay , the 2000 season saw a hunger in the team. Though they lost in week one (a road loss to the Bay State Patriots, 8-6) they would only lose twice more all season, posting a 13-3 record ( a franchise best in the 16 game era). With this division title, the New York Giants were set to host the Eastern Conference Final. Right on their heels come the 11-5 Philadelphia Eagles. Only four years removed from their 1996 NFL Title, the Eagles, led by young quarterback Donovan McNabb, would win the third seed, and a playoff berth. In third, the Pittsburgh Steelers would end the season 9-7, and in last, the Cleveland Browns, led by Tim Couch, won four more games in 2000 than they had in 1999, so at best an improvement.
In the 2000 Eastern Conference Playoff, the Washington Redskins hosted the Philadelphia Eagles. In the regular season, the two had met in Washington, where the Eagles had stormed to a 28-11 victory. As such many, also noting the identical record in the standings, saw the game as the Eagles to win. However, the Redskins would have none of it. All game they dominated on both sides of the ball. At the end, the Washington Redskins trounced the Philadelphia Eagles, 26-6, and won the right to contest for an NFL Title, traveling to the Meadowlands to take on the New York Giants.
In the 2000 Eastern Conference Final, the New York Giants hosted the Washington Redskins. In the regular season, the Redskins defeated the New York Giants, 26-13. The difference in the scoring in Giants Stadium was noted, as both the Giants and Redskins only scoring one touchdown. At the half Washington led 10-3, but the Giants would rebound, and at the end of the fourth quarter the score was a 13-13 tie. Overtime would not hold any team back, as the New York Giants scored a field goal, to return to the NFL Title for the first time since 1993. With the victory, the Giants won the right to travel to Nashville to play the Tennessee Titans.
Western Conference
In the Central Division, the Green Bay Packers won the division title handily, ending the season at 10-6. In second, third and fourth were the 7-9 Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, all of whom were still in playoff contention late in the season, as sorry a fact as that is. In last place, were the 5-11 Chicago Bears. Led by Brett Favre, the Packers looked good in 2000, and had won the right to host the Western Conference Playoff, against the third seed New Orleans Saints.
In the South Division, the Tennessee Titans absolutely dominated. At 15-1, the Titans outclassed the entire Western Conference and only lost one close game to the Philadelphia Eagles, 23-20. With the end of regular season play, the Titans had won the right to host the Western Conference Final, and should they win, the NFL Title. In second place, came the 9-7 New Orleans Saints. The Saints, though a playoff team, were best described as scrappy, and were not meant for the playoffs in the mind of most pundits. In third, were the defending league champion Dallas Texans, who at 5-11, were disappointing. In last place, were the league worst 1-15 Atlanta Falcons, who were removed from a playoff appearance, in 1998.
In the Western Conference Playoff, the Green Bay Packers hosted the New Orleans Saints. While the Eastern Conference Playoff was one sided, the matchup in the west was considered generally as a great game. The Saints and Packers went tit for tat, leaving the score tied at 24-24 at the end of the fourth quarter. Overtime seemed to drag on forever, before the Packers finally kicked a field goal to end it all. With the victory, the Packers won the right to travel to Tennessee to play the Titans.
In the Western Conference Final, the Tennessee Titans hosted the Green Bay Packers. During the regular season, the Titans visited Lambeau Field, where they whooped the Packers, 33-10. In the Final, the Titans score less, but kept the Packers out of the end zone, to the point that the first half ended 13-3, with the Titans in the lead. In the second half, the Titans scored two more field goals, while the Packers would also kick for 3. At the end, the score was 19-6, with Tennessee winning the right to host the 2000 NFL Title.
2000 NFL Title
In the 2000 NFL Title, the Tennessee Titans hosted the New York Giants. In the regular season, the Tennessee Titans hosted the New York Giants in week five. In the match, the won on a late lead, ending the game 24-17. In the rematch, not many would be entertained. Thee only touchdown of the game, was a defensive touchdown by the New York Giants in the third quarter, and was joined by a first quarter field goal by the Titans. That was the total sum of the night. In the end, the New York Giants would win the NFL Title, bringing the Ed Thorp Memorial Trophy back to New York City, for the first time since 1963.
2000 PCFL season
Though they finished in first, the Saint Louis Rams only posted a 8-3 record, ahead of the second and third place, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers, who tied each other in week two, 17-17. At 7-4-1, thee Raiders and 49ers won the right to play each other a third time in the season. In fourth, the San Diego Chargers posted a 7-5 record, finishing just out of the playoffs. One game behind them were the 6-6 Denver Broncos, and two games behind them, the 5-7 Arizona Cardinals. In last place, were the 1-11 Seattle Seahawks.
In the PCFL Playoff in 2000, the Oakland Raiders hosted the San Francisco 49ers. They had met in Week six, where the Oakland Raiders beat them 23-17 in Oakland. In their third meeting, the Raiders hosted the 49ers and set the stage for a close matchup, where in the Raiders won 19-9. With the victory, the Raiders won the right to travel to Saint Louis to play the Rams in the Pacific Bowl. In the Pacific Bowl, there was a close shootout, resulting in a 38-38 tie with 3 seconds left in the game. With a 53 yard field goal attempt soaring through the uprights as time expired, the game ended with cavernous boos and a completely shocked Rams team.

2001 NFL Season
Eastern Conference
In the 2001 NFL season, the Atlantic Division saw a close playoff race, between the Washington Redskins and the Bay State Patriots. In the preseason, Bay State QB Drew Bledsoe suffered a broken leg, which ended his NFL career. Replacing him in the regular season, was late draft pick, Michigan QB Tom Brady. Though he had a good regular season, Brady would end up missing the playoffs by two games, while the Washington Redskins, at 11-5, would win the division title, and the right to host the Eastern Conference Playoff. In third and fourth place, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins both finished at 8-8, and out of the playoffs. In last place, were the 5-11 Baltimore Bombers, who would gain an early draft pick. At the end of the season, the Washington Redskins prepared to face off against the third seed Philadelphia Eagles in the Eastern Conference Playoff.
In the North Division, three teams competed for the division title. In first and second place, finished the 12-4 Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles, who both won the right to a playoff appearance, with the Steelers earning the right to host the Eastern Conference Final, and the Eagles the right to play the Washington Redskins in the Eastern Conference Playoff. In third, one game out of the playoffs, finished the defending champion New York Giants, who at 11-5, just missed the playoffs. In fourth and last place, finished the 5-11 Cleveland Browns, who continued to struggle following their trade to draft QB Tim Couch. With the end of the regular season, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia both won the right to play in the postseason.
In the 2001 Eastern Conference Playoff, the Washington Redskins hosted the Philadelphia Eagles, in what would be frightfully close match. In the regular season, the two had played in Philadelphia, where the Redskins prevailed 13-10, with Washington winning on a late field goal. In the rematch, there would another close game. At the end of the first half, the Redskins were winning, 10-3, taking the lead on a Stephen Davis 10 yard rushing touchdown. Though they had the lead, the Redskins would soon face a comeback at the hands of Philadelphia's QB Donovan McNabb. At the end, the Eagles would win 16-13, ending a close game with a field goal to go ahead. With the victory, the Eagles won th right to travel to Pittsburgh to play for the Eastern Conference Final.
In the 2001 Eastern Conference Final, the Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Philadelphia Eagles. In the regular season, the two had split their two games, with the Steelers finishing ahead on tiebreakers. In Pittsburgh, a dusting of snow was on the field, where the Steelers looked to win their first title since 1995. The Eagles returns the ball to start the game, and drove down the field under the leadership of McNabb, to go ahead 7-0. The Steelers, led by QB Kordell Stewart, would go ahead, 20-14 in the end of the first half. In the beginning of the second half, the Eagles drove down the field, ending the drive with a field goal, to make the score, 20-17. With the game on the line, the Steelers went three and out, kicking a punt near the Eagles end zone, that left the Eagles on their own four yard line. Two plays later, the Steelers, following a blitz, sacked McNabb in the endzone, to make the final score, Pittsburgh 22, Philadelphia 17. With the victory, the Pittsburgh Steelers earned the right to host the 2001 NFL Title.
Western Conference
In the 2001 NFL season, the Central Division saw domination by the Chicago Bears, who at 13-3 won the right to host the Western Conference Final. Far behind, in second place, were the 9-7 Green Bay Packers, who though only 9-7, finished one game ahead of the 8-8 Tennessee Titans, and won the right to travel to Dallas to play the Texans in the Western Conference Playoff. In third place, were the 7-9 Indianapolis Colts, as QB Peyton Manning had a disappointing season missing the postseason. In fourth place, the Detroit Lions finished at 4-12, while in last place were the 2-14 Minnesota Vikings.
In the South Division, there was a close race between the Dallas Texans and the Tennessee Titans. It would come down to a week seventeen game in Dallas, where the Texans won by a late touchdown to take home the division crown. In the end, Dallas posted a 9-7 record, while the Titans finished at 8-8, just out of the playoffs. In third, the 6-10 Atlanta Falcons disappointed, while the 4-12 New Orleans Saints would finish in last. With the end of the regular season, the Dallas Texans won the right to host the Western Conference Playoff against the Green Bay Packers.
In the 2001 Western Conference Playoff, the Dallas Texans hosted the Green Bay Packers. While it would also come down to a field goal, it was a far more exciting game than its Eastern Conference counterpart. In a close shoot out, Green Bay's Brett Favre threw for four touchdowns, while Dallas QB Trent Green threw for three. In the regular season matchup, the Packers annihilated Dallas, 51-34, though a couple of late scores made the score seem closer. In the end, Green Bay kicked a late field goal, winning the game 38-35. With the victory, the Green Bay Packers won the right to travel to Chicago, to compete for the Western Conference Final.
In the 2001 Western Conference Final, the Chicago Bears hosted the Green Bay Packers. In the regular season, the Bears won both contests, one 26-3, and the other 23-13. As such going into their third matchup, most had the Bears winning by a mile. However, Brett Favre and the Packers defense had other plans. All game, Chicago QB Jim Miller was seated on his rump. The Packers defense got three sacks and two deflections, as well as two picks. Though the Bears defense was also tough, with the Packers run game being almost nonexistent, Favre threw for a pair of touchdowns to give the Packers 14 points. In the end, the Bears could not even find the end zone, and Green Bay won the game 14-0.
2001 NFL Title
In the 2001 NFL Title, the Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Green Bay Packers. In the regular season, though the Steelers had the far better record, the Packers had won the regular season contest, 25-17, in front of an ecstatic home crowd. Even so, most pundits had the Steelers as their pick. Early in the game, both offenses stalled, with the score being 7-7 at the half. To start the second half, the Packers went out and scored a touchdown, with Favre finding Antonio Freeman in the end zone from 20 yards out. The Steelers would manage two field goals, following failure in the red zone, making the score, 14-13, going into the fourth quarter. Once again the Steelers made it to the red zone, but ended up failing to convert on fourth down, giving the ball back to the Packers. With significant time on the clock, the Packers steadily drove down the field, and were forced to settle for a field goal, making the score 17-13. With the ball back, and with seven minutes on the clock, an eternity in football, the Steelers got the ball, and started a drive that ended at about the fifty yard line. On a crazy kick, the Steelers made the score 17-16. They would attempt a offside kick, but this failed, and in the end the Packers would run out the clock, eventually ending with the Green Bay Packers as NFL champions.
2001 PCFL Season
In the 2001 PCFL season, the Saint Louis Rams were out for blood. Following the heartbreaker at home in the 2000 Pacific Bowl, the Rams went out with a chip on their shoulder, and posted an 11-1 record, only losing in week seven to the Chargers in San Diego. In second, were the same San Diego Chargers, who at 7-5, won the right to host the PCFL Playoff. Just behind them, was a close race for the third seed. The Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders both posted a 6-6 record, and split the regular season series, with thee Broncos finishing ahead on tiebreakers. In fifth place, the San Francisco 49ers posted a 5-7 record, just out of the playoff race. In sixth place, the Seattle Seahawks were 4-8, while in last, the Arizona Cardinals posted a 3-9 record.
In the 2001 PCFL Playoff, the San Diego Chargers hosted the Denver Broncos. In the regular season the teams split their series, so no one was quite sure who was the better team. In the end, it was a rather boring game, with the Chargers winning 10-6. In the Pacific Bowl, the Saint Louis Rams would host the San Diego Chargers. Unfortunately for the PCFL this was another bad game. The Saint Louis Rams, led by QB Kurt Warner, piled up the points, while the defense annihilated any hope the Chargers had. In the end, the Saint Louis Rams won their second title in three seasons, finishing the Pacific Bowl as champions, 35-0.

2002 NFL season
In 1999, the NFL announced they would be expanding by two teams in time for the 2002 season. Originally some smaller USFL markets (Memphis, Birmingham, San Antonio) were considered, but eventually it came down to two markets, Jacksonville and Houston. With the relocation of the Oilers to Nashville in 1997, the NFL lost a major market presence, and left Texas with only one team.
In 2001, the Houston ownership announced the team name as the Houston Apollos, after some serious talk with the Titans about taking back the Oiler name. The new team would come with a new stadium, right next to the one time home of the Houston Oilers, the Astrodome. In Jacksonville, the NFL found a city in love with football, whether that was the Jacksonville Bulls in the spring, or Florida Gators in the fall. With a relatively new stadium, it was built in 1995, Jacksonville announced their branding as the Jacksonville Jaguars.
With these two new teams, required some reworking division wise. The Jacksonville Jaguars would join the Atlantic Division, while the Bay State Patriots would be moved to the North Division. In the Western Conference, the Houston Apollos joined the South Division, with hope to reignite the rivalries that Houston had once held in said division.
Eastern Conference
In the 2002 NFL season, the Atlantic Division saw the rise of the two expansion teams from 1995. In first place, were the defensively dominating Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At 14-2, the Buccaneers only lost to the Baltimore Bombers (17-6) and the Miami Dolphins (13-12). Though Tampa Bay played many close games they would win a franchise best 14 games, and would win the right to host the Eastern Conference Final. In second place, the Baltimore Bombers, Tampa's expansion mate, finished at 10-6, winning the right to the third seed, after besting the Bay State Patriots and Miami Dolphins in the playoff race. In third place, were the 9-7 Miami Dolphins, who though out of the playoffs had a respectable season, with hope for the future. The expansion Jacksonville Jaguars, led by journey man QB Mark Brunell, posted a 7-9 record, three games ahead of the last place Washington Redskins, who would finish 4-12. With the end of the season, two of the three teams in the Eastern Conference playoffs, were from the Atlantic, and that was a good sign for the future.
In the North Division, the 2002 season would see the Philadelphia Eagles embarrass the competition, finishing 13-3, far ahead of the 9-7 Bay State Patriots. Even with such a good season, the Patriots were still in the playoff race up until the last week, when the Patriots lost to the Philadelphia backups, 14-6. Tom Brady was seen to be physically upset, and Bill Belichick stalked from the sideline and did not walk to midfield to greet coach Andy Reid. The Eagles didn't really mind, since they would be hosting the Eastern Conference Playoff, and taking on the untested Baltimore team. In third place, the New York Giants finished with a 6-10 record. One game behind, was a race to not be the worst, between the Browns and the Steelers. In both divisional games the Browns one, meaning that if they both finished with the same record, the Browns would not be in last, which was at least a moral victory. Unfoturnately, in week 9, the Steelers hosted the expansion Houston Apollos, and after a close game finished with a tie, which would eventually give them a record of 5-10-1, one game better than their bitter rival, the Cleveland Browns.
In the 2002 Eastern Conference Playoff, the Philadelphia Eagles hosted the Baltimore Bombers. The Eagles were led their young QB, Donovan McNabb, while the Bombers had place holder Rodney Peete. Even so, in the regular season, Baltimore had beaten the Eagles badly in Baltimore, winning 20-6. As a result, some saw the fact that Baltimore had beaten both Philadelphia and Tampa Bay and that they might to do better than expected. Early on there were a series of field goals, that left the first half with the tied score of 6-6. Late in the third quarter, Dee Brown had a twenty yard rushing touchdown for the Bombers, and would win the game, 13-6.
In the 2002 Eastern Conference Final, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosted the Baltimore Bombers. The two, who had joined the league together, were now at precipice of a title. During the regular season, they had split the series, and the Bombers had been one of the few teams to beat the Buccaneers all season. With Peete leading the offense, the Bombers were stalling early on. They would not score a touchdown all game. Tampa Bay would also have trouble scoring, with four field goals and a single touchdown. The touchdown was a pass to Keyshawn Johnson for about 17 yards. In the end the score was Tampa Bay 19, Baltimore 6.
Western Conference
In the 2002 Central Division, the Indianapolis Colts saw some success under QB Peyton Manning, and after a drawn out division title race finished 10-6, to the Minnesota Vikings 9-7. Do to tiebreakers, the Dallas Texans won the third seed. In third and fourth place the Green Bay Packers both posted a 7-9 record, while in last place, the Detroit Lions finished at 4-12. With the end of regular season play, the Indianapolis Colts won the right to Western Conference Playoff.
In the South Division, the Tennessee Titans managed a return to form, finishing at 13-3 in first place. In second place, the Dallas Texans, at 9-7, managed to secure the third seed, beating out the Minnesota Vikings. In third and fourth place, the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons both finished at 7-9, with both falling out of the playoff race, by about week 13. In last place, were the expansion Houston Apollos. At 4-11-1, the Apollos had an alright debut season, tying with the Pittsburgh Steelers after their week 9 matchup. With the end of regular season, the Tennessee Titans won the right to host the Western Conference Final, while the Dallas Texans would travel to Indianapolis to play the Colts.
In the 2002 Western Conference Playoff, the Indianapolis Colts hosted the Dallas Texans. The Colts, led by Peyton Manning, were favorites going into the game, as they had destroyed the Texans in the regular season, in a home victory 42-10. However, the Dallas Texans would surprise their critics, winning a close game, 31-24 in Indianapolis. With the victory, Dallas won the right to travel to Nashville to play the Tennessee Titans for the Western Conference title.
In the 2002 Western Conference Final, the Tennessee Titans hosted the Dallas Texans. In the regular season, the two teams split the regular season series. At Dallas, the Titans won 35-28, while Dallas won in Nashville, 22-13. As such, most expected a close game. At the start, the game was tied 14-14. But two field goals by theTexans put them in the lead, 20-14. The Titans would come back with several scores and ended up winning the game, 34-20, earning the Titans the right to travel to Tampa to play the Buccaneers in the NFL Title.
2002 NFL Title
In the 2002 NFL Title, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosted the Tennessee Titans. In the regular season, the two did not play each other, so no one was really sure what would happen. Both had similar records, but the Titans had a good offense (led by QB Steve McNair) and a stout defense, while the Buccaneers had a passable offense and a suffocating defense. In the 2002 Title, the Buccaneers allowed one touchdown on defense, while the Titans gave up there touchdowns. The Buccaneers would also force four fumbles, two of which were recovered for touchdowns, including a crazy lateral play at the end of the first half. In the end, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won, 38-7.
2002 PCFL Season
In first and second place, the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos locked horns and finished tied, 8-4. In the third seed slot, the Seattle Seahawks beat out the San Francisco 49ers on tiebreakers, as both finished 7-5. In fifth, the Saint Louis Rams had a respectable season, posting a 6-6 record. In sixth place, the San Diego Chargers finished at 5-7, while in dead last were the terrible Arizona Cardinals, who at 1-11 had only managed to win one home game against the Chargers, 27-3. With the end of the regular season, the Oakland Raiders won the right to host the Pacific Bowl, and the Denver Broncos would host the Seattle Seahawks in the PCFL Playoff.
In the 2002 PCFL Playoff, the Denver Broncos hosted the Seattle Seahawks. The game would be a thriller, with both teams scoring three touchdowns, and in the end, the Broncos would pull ahead, winning the game, 33-24, further enforcing the rivalry between the two. In the Pacific Bowl, the PCFL would see another great game, this time between the Oakland Raiders and the Denver Broncos. With the Broncos scoring early, the score was 21-7 at the end of the third quarter. With the whole of the fourth quarter, the Raiders would fight back, and win the game, 23-21.

2003 NFL Season
Eastern Conference
In the Atlantic Division in 2003, the two 1995 expansion teams, the Baltimore Bombers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers dominated the field of play. In first, the Baltimore Bombers, led by young quarterback Jake Delhomme. Delhomme, who spent last season with the USFL's Memphis Showboats, won the starting job from Rodney Peete and led the Bombers to their best franchise record, with a 14-2 record. In second, were the defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who finished at 11-5 and won the third seed, where they would travel to Massachusetts to play the North division champion, the Bay State Patriots. In third, the Miami Dolphins posted a 8-8 record, with the fourth place Jacksonville Jaguars, in their second season, finishing at 7-9. In last place, were the Washington Redskins, who at 5-11 were one of the worst teams in the league. With the end of the regular season, the Baltimore Bombers won the right to host the Eastern Conference Final, while the Buccaneers would travel to Foxboro to contest with the Bay State Patriots.
In the North Division, the Bay State Patriots, won their first division title in only their second season in the North. Led by quarterback Tom Brady, the Patriots stormed to a 13-3 record, several games ahead of the second place Philadelphia Eagles, who at 10-6, missed the playoffs by a game, though the Buccaneers held the tiebreaker (the Bucs won the regular season matchup 47-3). In third place, the New York Giants, at 6-10 were far behind the Patriots and Eagles. Just behind them, at 5-11, were the Pittsburgh Steelers, who were a bit ahead of the 2-14 Cleveland Browns, who continued to be terrible since their trades to get Tim Couch. With the end of the regular season, the Bay State Patriots won the right to host the Eastern Conference Playoff, where they would play the defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In the 2003 Eastern Conference Playoff, the Bay State Patriots hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the regular season, the two had met in Tampa, where the Buccaneers won 13-7 in a very close game. As such, many thought the game would be close, and they were right. In the first half, neither team scored much, with the score big 6-3 at the end of the end of the second quarter, with the Patriots in the lead. As the game progressed, both teams scored touchdowns, although only one each. In the end, Tom Brady won his first playoff game, with the Patriots winning, 16-10. With the victory, the Patriots would travel to Baltimore, to take on the first place Bombers.
In the 2003 Eastern Conference Final, the Baltimore Bombers hosted the Bay State Patriots. In the regular season, the Baltimore Bombers hosted the Patriots, and won handily, with a final score of 23-6. As such, many were picking the Bombers to make their first ever NFL Title appearance. Unfortunately for Baltimore, this was not to be. All game, the Bombers were unable to score on offense. In the end, their kicker got four field goals, while the Patriots had no such challenge. In the end, the Patriots won the game 20-12, with the Patriots going to their first NFL Title since 1999, where they were humiliated at home by the Dallas Texans. With the victory, the Patriots would travel to New Orleans to contest for an NFL Title.
Western Conference
In the Central Division in 2003, the Green Bay Packers, led by veteran quarterback Brett Favre, won the first place spot with a 13-3 record. Behind them, were the Indianapolis Colts, led by the excellent Peyton Manning. At 10-6, the Colts won the right to travel to Green Bay for the Western Playoff. In third place, the Minnesota Vikings posted an 8-8 record. In fourth and fifth place, were the 5-11 Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears. With the end of the regular season, the Central had two playoff teams.
In the South Division, the New Orleans Saints had a break out season, led by quarterback Aaron Brooks, and finished at a franchise best 14-2. In second place, were the 9-7 Tennessee Titans who had a poor season following their NFL Title appearance last year. In third and fourth place, the Dallas Texans and Atlanta Falcons had a disappointing 7-9 season. And in last, the Houston Apollos regressed in their second season, going from 4-11-1 in 2002, to 2-14 in 2003. Quarterback David Carr set a league for most sacks in a single season. With the end of the regular season, the New Orleans Saints won the right to host the Western Conference Final.
In the 2003 Western Conference Playoff, the Green Bay Packers hosted the Indianapolis Colts. In the regular season, the Packers won both games ( in Indianapolis they won 20-14, while in Green Bay they won 54-9), so many thought the Packers would be returning to the NFL Title. However the Colts were determined to prove the pundits wrong. While the game was close, the Colts late touchdown gave them a 20-13 win. With the victory, the Colts won the right to travel to the Superdome to play the New Orleans Saints.
In the 2003 Western Conference Final, the New Orleans Saints hosted the Indianapolis Colts. In the regular season, the Indianapolis Colts won handily in New Orleans, 41-24. Even though Aaron Brooks had a breakout season, many saw this game as the Colts to win. Early on in the game, the Colts had a 14-3 lead, and by the end of the first half, the score was 20-20, with both teams fighting hard for a victory. In the end, the Colts would score a touchdown early in the second half, to make the score 27-20. As the game progressed the Saints seemed unable to score, with Brooks throwing a pair of interceptions. However, the Colts did not take advantage of these plays, and just before the two minute warning sounded, the Saints tied the score 27-27. Though the Colts had possession, they squandered this, as Peyton Manning was tackled and fumbled the ball. With time ticking away, the Saints scored a field goal, to make the final score 30-27, allowing the Saints to host the NFL Title, their first appearance since 1987.
2003 NFL Title
In the 2003 NFL Title, the New Orleans Saints hosted the Bay State Patriots. Though both teams were offensive powerhouses, the game would be very low scoring. The two had not met in the regular season, and as such many were befuddled as who was the favorite going into the game. Tom Brady was considered the better quarterback, but Aaron Brooks was also a good player, and as a result no one was quite sure who would win. Early in the game, the Patriots special teams made a huge play, when they blocked the Saints extra point kick, leaving the Saints with a 6-0 lead. Sometime in the second quarter, Tom Brady threw a 45 yard pass that ended with a touchdown, that gave the Patriots a 7-6 lead. As the game continued, neither team got much done on offense. As the game continued the Patriots in the fourth quarter scored a second touchdown, this time a running play, and scored a two point conversion to leave the score, 15-6. Shortly after the two minute warning, the Saints scored a touchdown, to make the score 15-12. Eager to get back in the game, they attempted a two point conversion, that ended with the Patriots still in the lead, 15-12. As time expired, the Bay State Patriots won their second NFL Title in franchise history.

In third place, were the 7-5 San Francisco 49ers, who finished one game ahead of the San Diego Chargers, who were 6-6. In fifth place, were the 5-7 Saint Louis Rams, while in sixth were the 2-10 Oakland Raiders and in last were the 1-11 Arizona Cardinals.
In the 2003 PCFL Playoff, the Seattle Seahawks hosted the San Francisco 49ers. While many hoped for a close game, it was not to be. In the end, the Seahawks absolutely dominated, winning the matchup in Seattle, 34-10. With the victory, the Seahawks won the right to travel to Denver for the Pacific Bowl. Following this the team would end up punting, and not much left, the Broncos scored a field goal, winning the fourth PCFL Title in team history.
