Detroit Autos: Second QCS's Suggestion.
Minnesota Butters: Strike hard while looking innocent: Monarch butterfly.
Seattle Hackers: Referencing the business total in Seattle.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

I'll throw mine in there.

Colorado Stealth - As a Colorado resident i feel you can't go wrong with a lot of the suggestions so far. I will say the Cowboy theme, Wilderness/Animal theme, Rocky Mountain themes are especially fitting. But I wanted to throw out something different. The Stealth pays homage to the Air Force that has a heavy presence in the state. Plus they'll have sweet black uniforms.

Seattle Cyborgs - Seattle is a big time tech spot. I've always thought Cyborgs was a great idea for a team name. Plus you have the great alliteration that is all over Seattle sports (Super Sonics, Seahawks, Sounds, Steelheads, Seawolves).

Minnesota Drakkars - The Drakkar was the feared Viking long boat. We have stayed away from the viking theme in our two other opportunities with the Loons and Voyageurs. I think its time. A really cool viking dragon boat would be sweet.

Chicago Rhinos - I have no reason to suggest this except that I love the name and feel like the Rhino is an underused mascot. It'll make for a great logo. And it represents the tough 'broad shoulders' nature of the city.

Louisville Sting - I was wary of going the horse route on account of the AltFL's Stallions. I also didn't want to go the boxing route on account of the AltFL's Brawlers. But I think this is a good name for a few reasons. It has a modern NBA team feel (Magic, Thunder, Heat, etc). Many people have referenced Ali's "sting like a bee". Plus the bee is the state insect of Kentucky.

Detroit Hot Rods - Just a cool sounding name. I know a lot of people have gone the auto industry route but since they would be our first Detroit team it would be cool to go that way. I could see a sweet Black, orange and yellow scheme.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

Colorado Centennials - Alliteration, a nod to the fact that Colorado is named the "Centennial State" because it was founded in 1876 (a century after the Declaration of Independence), and it just sounds classic. Red, yellow, and blue color scheme from the state flag could work for this.
Seattle Chinook - "The largest species of Pacific salmon" according to Wikipedia and a type of helicopter built by Seattle-based Boeing.
Minnesota Bears - Others have mentioned the desire to have a somewhat generic sounding team, and I think this could work for Minnesota. I could see a logo based around Ursa Major being a nod to the state's history with the NHL's North Stars.
Chicago Unions - Union Station in Chicago is one of the busiest and oldest train stations in the country, and the name "unions" represents the importance that Chicago played as a transportation hub connecting the east and the west in years past.
Detroit Stars - An homage to the old Negro Leagues baseball team in the 1920s, recognizes the rich Motown history of Detroit, and avoids the usual automobile industry nicknames.
Louisville Blues - It seems like everyone has voted a Blues name for a different city, so this may have already been mentioned for Louisville, but I think it's a great nod to the city's bluegrass history and the blue of the city seal.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

I don't know all the names for the Alt HL and FL, so if I do have a name that is already in use, please tell me.

Denver Dons- Just a cool alliterative name.

Chicago Slaughter- The Bulls were named for the meat industry, so I chose a similar name. Also, the teams stadium could be nicknamed the Slaughter House.

Seattle Sasquatch- The undiscovered forest hominid is local to the Pacific Northwest, and it is also alliterative.

Detroit Diesel- Changed my name.

Minnesota Maulers- Nothing to local, just an idea.

Kentucky Bloodhounds- A southern type of name, with Louisville going for a statewide branding.

EDIT: I changd Detroit.

Denver High: References the mountains and Colorado's relation to weed
Seattle Lumberjacks: Seattle used to be a lumber town
Minneapolis Musicians: Minneapolis is the launching pad of Bob Dylan and Prince
Chicago Onions: The name "Chicago" is derived from a French rendering of the indigenous Miami-Illinois word shikaakwa for a wild relative of the onion
Detroit Floaters: Reference to the floating post office J.W Westcott II
Louisville Park Rangers: Reference to the 122 city parks in Louisville Metro

Re: AltBA Design Thread

Chicago Blaze - Chicago Fire duh
Colorado Cougars - Cool
Detroit Caesars - Little Caesars
Minnesota Monsters - cool but scary
Louisville Brigade - Kool (for Kentucky duh)
Seattle Scouts - and I mean its cool too, but in Seattle

To be honest, I don't have much to explain these, most of the good ones are taken, but thought I'd have some fun with the descriptions

Re: AltBA Design Thread

I don't know any of the names already in use, so please let me know if I mention one already in use

Denver Blizzard- blizzards frequent the area, and they're near the mountains which get plenty of those
Seattle Monsoon- Seattle is often rainy, even though it is a light drizzle most of the time, it can add up
Minneapolis Falls- the city name derives from the Dakota word for waterfall and the greek word for city. combined, the name means city of the falls
Chicago Chinook- Chicago is the windy city, and another word for a strong wind is a chinook
Detroit Brigade- idk it sounds cool. no real meaning behind it
Louisville (Kentucky) Fried Chickens- KFC's headquarters is in Louisville
