Gritty, can you give us a count of points for each city?

Re: AltBA Design Thread

Thank you everyone for participating in the city selection process for the Eastern Conference. 26 different voters submitted 260 votes. They were tallied and weighted and here are the 12 Eastern Conference markets...

Philadelphia, New York, Charlotte, Boston and Chicago have formed the elite group of cities to have 3 Alt Sports franchises. Louisville will have a team to join the AltFL's Kentucky Stallions. But I am excited that we are introducing 6 brand new locations for our universe. Please welcome Baltimore, Washington, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Atlanta, and Indianapolis. Indy was no one's first choice but they were in almost everyone's top 6.

This Eastern Conference reaches to major Basketball hotspots. The high school urban centers of basketball...New York and Philadelphia. The NBA capitals of Chicago and Boston. As well as the North Carolina, Indiana and Kentucky which are all college basketball epicenters. We have the Battle of the Beltway between BMore and DC and the Pennsylvania showdown between Philly and Pittsburgh. The Bad Boys may be renewed in Detroit. I am excited by this group of cities.

In the past there were always razor small margins between being IN and OUT. But not this time. Louisville finished with 59 points. Toronto is the first on the outside looking in with 54. But after that it is Virginia Beach at 36. The community has spoken!

It is NOT time to start naming teams. But you can start thinking about the suggestions that you are going to put forth. I wanted to give you a little heads up to some of the added direction for the naming process. Pay attention to these so you don't waste your time going down the wrong rabbit holes.

1.) No Alt Sports names - don't use any of the names that have been chosen already. Also try to avoid the same theme for certain markets - Philly avoid Patriotic theme. Boston avoid Patriotic/Irish theme
2.) No current NBA names (past or present)
3.) No WNBA names (past or present) for the same market.
4.) No College names for teams in that area. For example, New York Hoosiers = okay. Indianapolis Hoosiers = not okay.

Remember we are going to try to avoid lobbying for names. We want people's creativity to work organically. With that said, I encourage people do some light research before submitting your names. Make sure that the name fits with that city and area.

I also just wanted to remind everyone that I won't be 'updating' the scores as we go along. That influences the votes of other people.  So the trick through the design process is to be patient.

We will officially open up for name submissions AFTER we reveal the Western Conference cities. At that time we will only nominate names a few at a time and as usual it will be a mixture of teams from around the league. So start to get ready for the names! That will start in a few days. In the mean time it is time for the WEST!

Here are some of the major markets in the US and Canada. If you'd like to add another city to your nominations feel free to do so. Once you post I am recording your vote. So when you vote make sure that is the order you prefer. Looking forward to the cities we choose! Have fun!
