Not a problem. I'm headed out of town until Monday with no wifi so I wont be able to get it done for a few days, but I will do it when I get back home. Appreciate the support!

1996 Off-Season and Draft

Before the season could get underway, of course came the draft! The first round of the draft looked as followed:

With only one year down, no teams made any drastic changes to their organizations as they waited to see who would be contenders and who would remain pretenders. The pre-season power rankings were as followed:

1 - Lake Phoenix Land Sharks
2 - Bayleigh Bluejays
3 - Battlefield Thunder
4 - Calcolo Creek Killer Whales
5 - Bentley Evergreens
6 - Brooklynn Skyscapers
7 - Lake Hope Chinooks
8 - Pleasantview Attack
9 - Eastdale Sting
10 - York Mills Bulls

Up next, the 1996 regular season!

Re: Association of Yorkland Football

1996 Regular Season

It was another long season in York Mills as Christopher Carr led the Bulls to a brutal 2-16 season and a dead last finish in the league. With no signs of improvement, Carr was relieved of his duties at the end of the year.

The Attack from Pleasantview faltered down the stretch, missing the playoffs along with Brooklynn who failed to maintain momentum from 1995. The Eastdale Sting would finish 7th, just missing the playoffs on a tie-breaker. Sting fans were pleased that the team made improvements and can sense a playoff berth coming if everything falls into place.

The reigning champions just squeaked into the playoffs with a 9-9 record and will travel to Lake Hope to open the playoffs. In the other wild card game, Lake Phoenix will host the Bentley Evergreens at Peachwood Field.

At the top of the standings were the Bayleigh Bluejays who had a great season finishing 12-6 and improving upon a great start from 95. They finish ahead of Calcolo Creek who also get the bye but missed out on top spot going 0-2 against Bayleigh during the regular season.

With the matchups set, it’s time for the 1996 AYF Playoffs! Lake Hope vs. Battlefield and Lake Phoenix vs. Bentley!

They are a very balanced team. Good offense and really good defense. QB Brendon Fischer has many years ahead of him and is a stud. It's hard to picture this team not going on a championship run or two in the near future.
