Re: AltHL Legacy

The Final Finals of the AltHL Legacy Project

After today, the next champion will be won after a grueling 2020 fantasy hockey season.  For now we are going to celebrate the completion of the project - look back on what was and then begin to get excited for the future of the AltHL.  Over the next week we will be doing some individual team recaps as well as some other fun things to recap the Legacy Project

The 2019 Adams Cup Final
In a rematch of the 2018 final the Wolves and 'Goyles met once again.  The Wolves with revenge on their mind while New York was aiming to end the Legacy Project in the same way that they began it.  The Ovechkin years were short but impressive for the Wolves. One can no only dream of what could have been for Great 8 in teal.  And who knows maybe he ends up back with them in 2020.  The 'Goyles built themselves on team design.  After years of dreck and building through the draft New York ended the Legacy Project with two Adams Cups, won by mostly home grown talent. Congrats to Dr. Pepper and the New York Gargoyles!

The Canadian Shield XX Finals
It is tough to question Toronto's dominance of the Legacy Project. But vying for second place in the CHL has always been Halifax and Minnesota.  The Fishers were our first ever Legacy dynasty - with multiple Shields in the first three seasons of the league.  Minnesota was our first ever champions. They had to endure 20 years of playing exclusively in another country and were one of the league's most consistent teams. Unfortunately the Fishers had too much firepower and swept the Loons for the final Shield.

Naturally it is the dream of every AltHL Owner to end each week at the top of the standings. I hope that this project has been a way to pace yourself through Covid.  While we waiting for real sports to come back we always had the Canadian Shield and Adams Cup to fight for.  I thought it would be interesting to look back at each of the finals matchups.  The eventual champion is on the left, the runner up on the right.

And here are all of the teams that can claim that they have won a banner at some point during the Legacy Project.  I personally liked have the CHL has one league and the AHA as two separate divisions. I would have to go back and see who would have won divisions if the CHL also had an East and West Division.

Like I said, starting next week I have a post for each AltHL team.  I will give you their all time records, trophy cases, and I even took a crack at each franchise's all legacy team.  Stay tuned!

Re: AltHL Legacy

Forget about winning it, the Bighorns are the only team to never even make the championship finals. And to think, I would've selected the Gargoyles. Hindsight is 20/20 and life is pain.

All for a shot at a rivalry.
