The 2001 Canadian Shield Playoffs:
Didn't have time for full stories this week but here is how it shook out.
#1 Halifax Kingfishers vs. #4 Minnesota Loons
For the second straight season the Battle of the Birds took center stage in the first round. This one lived up to the hype of a well deserved rematch. The series lasted 7 games and included 3 overtime finishes. This time it was Halifax with the revenge against the defending champions.

#2 Quebec Owls vs. #3 Winnipeg Arrows
After a disappointed end to last year's season the Arrows were back with a vengeance. They traded last year's first round pick and playoff hero Pierre Turgeon to the Ghosts for star forward Pat LaFontaine. Quebec is a collection of a who's who of the 1980s. The Owls, led by The Great One, Wayne Gretzky proved no match for the hungrier Arrows club. The Arrows make it to the finals for the second straight year. Can the second time be the charm?

We love OT! Great series, can't believe we won three straight to take it.
Bring it on, Winnipeg!

When I said "second time's a charm", I didn't mean getting swept by Winnipeg.
Though, even with the Great One, you can't expect to win everytime.

We've summed one full season, the Loons won the Canadian League and the Gargoyles won the American League, Gritty is finishing the second season. The other thread is where most of the discussion will happen, we're currently adding stadiums and farm league teams to it all to flesh out the world.
