21-10 BUF - TD WR Nathan Green
21-13 PRO - FG K Theodore Provost
28-13 BUF - TD DB Lou Lake

Buffalo’s defence came out to play against the Gold Stars causing 4 turnovers in the game.
DB Lou Lake, S Frazier Brooks, and DB Louie White each had a pick while DL Sean Bowen was able to get to RB Johnnie Stafford and strip the ball.

QB Angelo Medina showed a bit of his old self being able to escape the clutches of DL Zakary Turbide and DL Calias McDonough.
Providence just fell short on their attempts in the second half of the game.

Ottawa Royals - 31, Louisville Thunder - 9 - Royals Stadium at Brewer Park - July 5, 1957 - 7 PM ET
1st
3-0 OTT - FG K Maurice Lafayette

Ottawa had a slow start to the game until Chester Bennett had a 48-yard play which would land Jones a touchdown on the next play.
From there the Royals took over with defence helping out in the form of DB Mingan Oliver with a pick and DL Olaf Viktorsson with a forced fumble.
Louisville was still able to move the ball alright but ultimately fell short in most cases.

Ontario Tigers - 27, Long Island Raiders - 17 - Kitchener-Waterloo City Field - July 6, 1957 - 1 PM ET

20-17 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
27-17 ON - TD RB Clifford Russell RB

Clifford Russell had a big game leading the Tigers to a huge win over the Long Island Raiders.

DB Ricardo Salvador would set up Russell’s final touchdown after a huge interception to pretty much clinch the game.
QB Rigobert St-Hilaire was used in a goal-line package that worked for the Raiders to get into the endzone.

Boston Independents - 14, Indiana Victors - 7 - Richardson Stadium - July 6, 1957 - 4 PM ET
1st
2nd
7-0 BOS - TD RB Joel Bonner
3rd
7-7 IND - TD RB Laurent Brazeau
14-7 BOS - TD RB Joel Bonner
4th

A low scoring affair in Boston ends with the Independents having their first 2-0 start since 1950 (this is a crazy fact).
Boston’s defence was on point in the first half and kept it up in the second half, LB Brent Harper had a forced fumble as did LB Konrad Aust.

Montreal was no slouch though as DB Quentin Xavier had a pick as well as S Jumon Cobb.
Ultimately, RB Marcus Devonshire had a great performance that Montreal was unable to stop.

1957 Week 3

Long Island Raiders - 27, Louisville Thunder - 14 - Long Island Stadium - July 12, 1957 - 7 PM ET

3rd
24-7 LI - TD RB Timothy Weeks
24-14 LOU - TD RB Lawrence Sharp
4th
27-14 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher

Despite the win, the Long Island defence was still having issues throughout the game and Louisville would get some offence out of it on a deep play to former Raider Truman Harry after a blown coverage by the Raiders
LB Rusty McVee was able to get his first forced fumble for the Raiders in the 2nd quarter.
QB Lyle Painter was much better for the Raiders with a pair of TD passes in the second to get them up 17-0.
S Lester Greer did come down with a pick that would set up Lawrence Sharp’s TD in the 3rd.

Montreal Rouge - 24, Buffalo Blue Wings - 19 - Mount Royal Stadium - July 13, 1957 - 1 PM ET
1st
7-0 MTL - TD RB Scott Mallard-White

24-19 MTL - TD TE Eli Grant

Montreal stuns the Blue Wings with a huge win, QB Stanislav leading the game-winning drive with less than 2 minutes to go in the 4th.
QB Angelo Medina could not replicate his great performance from last week throwing 3 interceptions in this one.
DB Quentin Xavier came down with two of the interceptions and Jontray Cox the other.

26-24 IND - FG K Albert Carney
26-31 ON - TD WR Wilbert Benjamin
32-31 IND - TD WR Joseph Barry
34-31 IND - 2PT RB Laurent Brazeau

Indiana and Ontario had an offensive shootout with the former Tigers in QB Duane Logan and RB Laurent Brazeau getting the last laugh
DB Lester Murphy was a big part of the win taking in an interception to set up Brazeau’s 3rd TD of the game and broke up the final pass of the game to seal it for the Victors
QB Christian Stewart continued to shine this season with a strong 2 TD performance despite the loss

Providence Gold Stars - 26, Worcester Athletics - 23 - New Providence Stadium - July 14,1957 - 2 PM ET

18-16 WOR - TD RB Marcus Devonshire
18-23 WOR - TD WR Christian Venegas
24-23 PRO - TD WR Sammy Moss
26-23 PRO - 2PT TE Micheal Bowman III

Worcester could not figure out the Providence defence until the final quarter where they took a big lead, but they would fall short after O’Rourke led the Gold Stars on a monster game-winning drive
DB Lee Wolfe came down with a pick as well as DB Paul Gregory, while LB Scotty Williams was still able to knock the ball out of Marchal’s hands at one point

Ottawa Royals - 31, Boston Independents - 26 - Royals Stadium at Brewer Park - July 14, 1957 - 5 PM ET

The Independents kept up solid play against the Royals, even young RB Eddie Thompson got into the endzone on a trick play that sent him on a 36-yard scamper for the endzone.
The Royals were still able to stay ahead of the Independents with QB Jean Matieau throwing 3 touchdowns for the first time this season.
