Yet another team from Minnesota that just can't win when it counts...
I have no words...

I don't choose, it's all numbers and random chance.

Here's the Champions Bowl!

1964-65 NFA Champions Bowl - Los Angeles Tigers vs Boston Gaels
Coming into this game, fans of both teams were on the edge of their seat, both the franchises have waited over a decade for another Bowl win and have had that chance barely slip away from them in recent memory. For Boston, they’re at their peak, with two MVPs on the team, a talented defense and a head coaching staff led by MOC Bill Montague, anything less than a victory here is seen as a disappointment. As the team enters the downhill in the next year or two, this is also looking like potentially one of the last opportunities they’ll have. For Los Angeles, they’re a team still climbing, coming off an embarrassing loss in this same game last year, with a star studded crew, spearheaded by the best offense in the league, a victory here could be the start of the next NFA dynasty. Boston was favored to win, it was slim, but they were still the predicted favorites. Los Angeles though has been on a tear, a big blowout win over New York in the wildcard, then a crowd silencing upset in Minneapolis over the 11-1 Blue Ox, it only means that the predictions could mean nothing, the Tigers are just as good as the Gaels. We’ll only know who wins until the dust settles though, so let’s get rolling.
Los Angeles would start out on offense. It didn’t take long for them to make that known either. Pretty much right out of the gate, the Tigers looked hot. QB Kieth Lincoln seemed to have no problem picking apart the Gaels defense and leading his receivers to receptions. Before too long they had found themselves well into Boston territory on the first 3rd down of the afternoon. Boston’s defense wasn’t looking the best, but thanks to DT Chick Stevenson, they had eventually gotten Los Angeles on their backs. The result of this down could decide the pace of the rest of the game. QB Kieth Lincoln would hand it off to RB Sam Peck, he only needed 3 yard but he would get more. Peck, who is known for his speed, would break his way into the 10 before finally being sat down. One play later and he was putting the first score on the board. Boston would trot out for their first offensive expedition of the game. Seeing what LA just did to their defense, and knowing their playstyle, they knew that scoring on this drive would be crucial to staying into this game. So with this in mind they went out and put up a quick drive that resulted in tying the score at 7.
The second quarter would see Boston start to take the edge. Following up their big drive in the first quarter, the defense cleaned up on the mistakes from their first time out and stopped LA short of scoring. They would then turn it around and start to beat the Tigers at their own game. The Tigers defense was no match for RB Stevie Parks who would carry Boston all the way to the house on a drive that took a chunk out of the quarter. Now down 14-7 LA would have to act fast if they wanted to score before the half was up. This rushing would only curse them more than it benefited them, as a penalty set them up with a long 2nd down, which turned into an interception quickly. Boston would kneel the rest of their time and the two teams would enter halftime locked in battle, the score 14-7.
The second half would begin with the Gaels on offense. QB Donald McCloud and the rest of the crew wouldn’t take long to reignite that momentum they had going into the break. Before too long McCloud sailed one to WR James Audrey to take a big 14 point lead. The Tigers, now with their backs on the ropes, had to do what they did best, score. RB Sam Peck would catch a toss and take it almost all the way down. He would go down at the 25 but that's when tragedy struck. Peck would fumble the ball in a rookie mistake. Boston would fall on it for possession, meaning the Tigers were the owners of the first turnover of the game. Boston would seize their chance and continue to build there lead. The mediocre LA defense had no chance of stopping them now. The whole offense looked the best it maybe ever has. McCloud barely got touched in his pocket and it didn’t take much effort before he found TE Percy Quinte in the endzone for the 21-7 lead. The Tigers would then get started on their next drive as the quarter ended, desperately trying to stay in the game.
The last quarter was upon us and by the time it was over, we would have a new NFA Champion. Lincoln and Peck would try their hardest to get the talented offense back on the rails but the Gaels defense was in their heads. The wouldn’t even make it to midfield before tragedy struck again. Lincoln would get intercepted by Boston for the second turnover of the game. Boston would turn this into even more points. Although the Tigers defense finally managed to get ahold of them later into the drive and force them to settle for 3. Now with half the quarter almost gone and looking down the barrel of a defense that’s completely shut them down, LA would try and surmount their 24-7 deficit. Their attempts would be fruitless however, as they would pass up a field goal opportunity for a chance to convert a fourth down. It would be unsuccessful, with Lincoln being pressured into throwing into coverage where his pass would fall incomplete. That incompletion would start the celebrations for Gaels fans. Now down for the count, Boston would rub it in and hold the ball out for the rest of the time. They did it, they had overcome the drought and won their first Champions Bowl since all the way back in 1948 by a score of 24-7. Los Angeles on the other hand had completely choked in the final game of the season for a second year in a row. Such a potent offense had only managed to put up 7 points. The MVP award would go to RB Stevie Parks.

Here's the field for the game:

And here's the final look at the bracket:

C&C Appreciated! Congrats to Gaels fans!

Love to see the Gaels taking the W! Reading your write-up, it seems like they should actually have 31 points, but it doesn't seem like that matters very much, and who am I to complain anyway? Champs, baby!

Congrats to Boston, a well-deserved win.
I'm not complaining seeing the stinking Tigers fail in the final. Definitely a rival for Minne now.

Don’t forget the trophy is named after the team’s founder.
