Re: AltBA Design Thread

Albuquerque Invaders - New Mexico is home to plenty of alien sightings, and aliens from outer space can only mean one thing: invasion!
Boston Nauticals - The seafaring side of Boston is one we haven't tackled yet, so why not just go for the whole thing?
Hawaii Honeycreepers - The Hawaiian honeycreeper is a bird endemic to the islands and alliteration is fun. Aw, man.
New York Dukes - Named for the Duke of York, the namesake of New York.
Omaha Bombers - Several bombing planes were manufactured in Omaha.
Indianapolis Stars - There's a big star on the Indy flag and also racing drivers who win a lot are stars.

New York Sentinels - New York's Finest shall protect Homecourt
Hawaii Wayfinders - It honors the Polynesians who discovered the islands and the explorers who found it
Boston Schooners - It honors the Boston tradition of sailing
Indiana Volunteers - Indiana put out a ton of volunteers during the Civil War exceeding all expectation
Omaha Express - Omaha is the home of Union Pacific and it has a history with the Railways.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

Albuquerque Cranes - New Mexico is known for their unique crane birds
Boston Narwhals - a different take on the whales/whalers idea with a mythical creature that absolutely exists
Honolulu Hula Hoops - it’s pretty obvious
Indianapolis Circles - Indy is the Circle City, racetracks go in circles, etc
New York Zombies - for the city that never sleeps
Omaha Howlers - could be a wolf or a coyote, also has interior alliteration

* changed ABQ

Re: AltBA Design Thread

New York Steamrollers - Classic name for a classic city.
Indianapolis Circles - Circle City could support a classic name.
Boston Lamplighters - Classic and classy, could support a lighthouse identity
Albuquerque Thunderbirds - Appearing on the city flag,  the Thunderbird evokes power and absolute destruction on the court.
Omaha Barnstormers - Touring pilots would give rides and perform stunts all over the heartland.
Honolulu Schooners - Ships in a naval city? Yes.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

Boston Whalers - To avoid the Revolutionary or Irish theme for Boston, this moniker honors New England’s whaling history.
Brooklyn Admirals - Brooklyn was home to an active US Naval Shipyard from 1806-1966 (Wikipedia), so Admirals is a nod to that.
Honolulu Hogs - Hawaii is rather overrun with feral hogs, which perhaps isn’t the best thing to celebrate, but hogs have been around Hawaii for hundreds of years and would make an interesting mascot, as well as diverge from the usual island-related nicknames for Honolulu.
Indianapolis Unions - Indianapolis’ Union Station was one of the first built in the nation and was important in connecting the East and Western parts of the country by rail.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

Boston Cannons: References the cannons Washington placed in nearby Dorchester Heights to drive the British out of Boston during the Revolutionary War
New York Knights: It's alliterative, and New York is that typical old-fashioned city, plus you could tie it in with the Emperors and Gargoyles with the similar theme
Hawaii Monarchs: Hawaii was the only state to have a monarchy before becoming a state
Omaha Shockers: Omaha is right in the middle of the Wheat Belt, and Shockers is a fairly typical name for a wheat-based team
Albuquerque Atoms: Like the popular Isotopes baseball team, but this time it's alliterative!
Indianapolis Comets: References Purdue's numerous astronaut alumni and the fast-paced nature of auto-racing in the state

Re: AltBA Design Thread

Albuquerque Whiptails: Whiptail lizards are very common in ABQ, and I think this would be a really fun identity.

Boston Lanterns: One if by land, two if by sea, three if by downtown.

Honolulu Royals: Hawaii was famously a kingdom before being taken over by noted pineapple lad Sanford Dole.

New York Razors: I wanted to work in a Broadway reference, since Broadway doesn't get much love in the sports world. I went with Razors due to Sweeney Todd.

Omaha Packers: Omaha was big in the meatpacking industry back in the day, so this could be fun.

Indiana Flames: There's a torch on the Indiana flag. No further questions, your honor.

Albuquerque: Vaqueros - The Spanish word describing a cowboy, Vaqueros are a prominent trade in New Mexico.

Honolulu: Kahunas - Either a large wave, or a very wise Hawaiian.

Omaha: Gatekeepers - Another city titled Gateway to the West.

Boston: Artillery - A different way to bring big cannons into the league.

New York: Showstoppers - The bright lights on stages across Broadway make each thespian that acts on one a true Showstopper.

Indianapolis: Indiana Bricklayers - Indianapolis Motor Speedway is called the Brickyard.
