New Orleans: Jesters - The Mardi Gras festival involves mass partying, the bright colors, and of course, the hats of jesters.
Vancouver: Caribou - Some species of caribou call the woodland areas around Vancouver and British Columbia home.
LA: Shooting Stars - The bright lights and celebrity influence of Los Angeles makes the stars all the flashier.
Washington: Senators - A classic baseball name, but makes sense given the political power all in one DC.
Atlanta: Polar Bears - Sounds like a bad name, but the mascot of Coca-Cola is a polar bear, and the corporate offices of The Coca-Cola Company are right in Atlanta.
Charlotte: Raiders - From the Revolutionary War fights, to the pirates of the Carolina coasts, this team could draw inspiration from both sides. (Much love to the Patron Saint of Charlotte!)

Louisiana Frogs: (EDIT) Since Crescents got picked early, I'll juke and pick the state's official state amphibian, the humble (yet strangely appropriate for basketball) frog. Frogs jump real high, befitting a basketball player, and it's pretty much unused I think for team mascots. Imagine a mascot named Hops, the frog who plays hoops.
Vancouver Mariners: A marine theme sounds fun for that city. Mariners is a personal favorite nickname of mine.
Los Angeles Grapes : (EDIT) Since Stars got picked instantly, I'll change to my trollish nickname, the Grapes, a fictional basketball team I made up back when we first made up stadiums, so screw it, let's go Grapes! (It's a very mild reference to the Grapes of Wrath.... of the California Raisins, whichever is more nightmarish for you.
Washington Cherries: (EDIT) Another fruit name Stickman! You unoriginal hack! I know, I know, this won't win, but all the good nicknames got picked immediately, so why not play at the George Washington cutting down the cherry tree story?
Atlanta Bulldogs: Bulldogs is a cool, unused nickname so far in the Alt Leagues, and could be a nice play on one of Atlanta's city nicknames, Dogwood City. Plus Firebirds got plucked off the board almost immediately....
Charlotte Royals: Charlotte is the Queen City, so a royal nickname would be appropriate.
