Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

For the first time since changing their name from the Bruins, the Bakers have introduced a new logo. The logo is a stylized Bakers hat forming an M for Minneapolis with "Bakers" arched on the bottom of the hat.

The Bakers have only had one jersey since changing their name 21 years ago, so it was time for an update. The Doughboys new jerseys feature "Minneapolis" diagonally across the front with their new Bakers Hat logo finding a home on the shoulders. The striping is similar but different, using a thick stripe of the inverse color on the bottom of the sleeves, rather than the top, with a thinner stripe above. This is mimicked on the hem socks. There is a white stripe added to the breezers, laces added to the jerseys, and the TV numbers are moved from the chest to the arms.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

With their long awaited move indoors, Yankton came out with a new logo and uniforms. The team came out with a new Paddlefish logo to replace the block Y they have used since their inception. The Y will still be sticking around though as a secondary logo.

The Paddlefish logo is put front and center with the block Y placed on the shoulders. They decided to keep the two stripe look but added some thickness to the stripes and flipped the colors at home so steel blue is on top both at home and on the road. The number color is also inverted at home to make it easier to read. The shoulders on the road and the collar on the home are both changed to purple, and laces are added to both jerseys.

Expansion Teams

Grafton is a town in northeast North Dakota with a population of right around 5,000. The Griffs will be joining the Red River Hockey League and will play their home games at 1,500 seat Centennial Arena.

The name "Griffins" was picked because they liked the way it sounded with the city name. Their logo is a stylized G in the team colors of blue and gold.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Red Lake Falls is a town of about 1,500 in northwest Minnesota and they will be joining the Red River Hockey League. Being located between Thief River Falls and Crookston, they are sure to build natural rivalries in no time. The Rebs will play their home games at 600 seat Cardin-Hunt Arena.

They will be called the "Rebels" and their logo is a script R with a western style spur on the side. The teams official colors are maroon and black.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Sartell is a city to the north of St. Cloud and across the Mississippi from Sauk Rapids. With a population of just under 6,000 on a rapid increase, it was only a matter of time before Sartell would get a team of their own. The Spiders will play their home games at 500 seat Sartell Ice Arena.

They will be called the "Spiders". The name was picked after asking people what scares them and Spiders was one of the most common answers. The team wanted to pick something that would strike fear into the opponent and they liked the way "Sartell Spiders" sounded so it became official. The spider in their logo is based on the Striped Fishing Spider, a species of spider native to the state that is usually found near water, it is also one of the largest species found in MN. Their team colors are black and cardinal.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

St. Joseph is a town just to the west of St. Cloud with a population of about 4,000 and rising. Despite only having St. Joseph in the name, the team will also represent the people of nearby Collegeville Township, best known for being home to the University of St. John's. Their home games will be played at St. Joseph Ice Arena which can seat 800 fans.

The team will be called the "Friars" in reference to the long history of Catholicism in the area. Their logo features the historic Church of St. Joseph which was built back in 1869 by Catholic immigrants. The Friars official team colors are blue and gold.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Buffalo is a city slightly northwest of the twin cities with over 7,000 people calling it home. The only thing keeping Buffalo from getting a team was their location, but they have finally been accepted into the North Metro Hockey League. They will play their home games at 750 seat Buffalo Civic Center.

To decide on a nickname, the team held a name the team contest in the local paper. The submissions were turned in and narrowed down to three options that were then put to a public vote; Bulls, Cowboys, and Fish. To the surprise (and amusement) of many, Fish was the winner. The reasoning for the name coming from the species of suckers native to the state, the Buffalo Fish. When the team came out with their logos, they opted for a more generic fish shape rather than the... unflattering actual look of a Buffalo Fish. "Buffalo" is spelt out inside the fish silhouette. Their team colors are blue, white, and red.

Re: Minnesota Amateur Hockey League

Robbinsdale finally joins the rest of their neighbors in getting a MAHL team, becoming the last of the large suburbs to get a team of their own. With over 14,400 people, it became clear that Robbinsdale was large enough to support a team and the West Metro Hockey League permitted them entrance. The Ravens will share a home with St. Anthony of the TCHL, playing at 500 seat Victory Memorial Arena in Minneapolis.

The team will be called the "Ravens" because of the alliteration as well as to keep the bird theme that both Robbinsdale Cooper and Robbinsdale Armstrong High Schools use (Hawks and Falcons). Their logo is a blackletter R with a drop shadow in the team colors of black and purple.
