Go Broncos! I'll always be a Grand Rapids Moose fan, but I will say the Cloquet Broncos have always been #2 in my eyes! Great to finally see them back in the finals!

1982 Kellogg Cup Final
1st Period
STP - 1
CLQ - 3
Met Center was sold out in Bloomington as the puck was dropped for the 1982 Kellogg Cup Final between St. Paul and Cloquet. The Broncos got a man advantage early and after a Victoria player broke his stick it was essentially a 5 on 3 and Cloquet made the most of it, taking a one goal lead 3:09 into the game. St. Paul tied it up thanks to a great individual effort by Mark Parker, but the Broncos rattled off two goals late to take a 3-1 lead after one period of play.
2nd Period
STP - 1
CLQ - 4
Cloquet was able to stretch their lead further on a snipe from the top of the circle to send the Cloquet supporters (and St. Paul haters) into a frenzy in the stands, echoing out "Lets Go Broncos" chants that sounded nearly as loud as at Pine Valley Ice Arena. Cloquet went into the locker room with a commanding 3 goal lead with 20 minutes left to play.
3rd Period
STP - 3
CLQ - 5
The V's came out desperate in the third, playing extremely aggressive, but it paid off. St. Paul was able to get a pair of goals past the Bronco netminder to make it a one goal game down 4-3. The momentum was all in favor of the V's and Cloquet was pinned in their own end for much of the remainder of the game. The Broncos goaltender was able to come up big when his team needed him though, keeping his team in it long enough for them to get the empty netter with 27 seconds left in the game to clinch the victory. The entire Bronco team celebrated at the bench, goalie included, until the referees had to tell them to come back and finish the game. Cloquet killed off the final seconds and as the final horn sounded Broncos hopped the boards and flung their gear into the air in celebration. The 55 year drought is over, the Cloquet Broncos are Kellogg Cup Champions once more, taking down the St. Paul Victorias by a final score of 5-3.
The Tschida Trophy was awarded to St. Paul Victorias Left Winger, Mark Parker. Parker, alongside teammate Paul Housley, were instrumental in the resurgence of the V's this season, helping lead them to their first Twin Cities Hockey League title in two decades as well as all the way to the Kellogg Cup Final. This is the second time that a Victoria has won the Tschida Trophy, the first was Peter Brooks in 1972.
Let me know what you think, comments are appreciated!
