Kansas City Diesels: Locomotives in the midwest? Honestly I've just seen this as a concept before and loved the name.
California Surfers: People surf in California
Kentucky Pioneers: I had originally thought of Jockeys but someone beat me too it. One thing though is that I can’t see a Louisville franchise going with anything but Kentucky, the few professional teams they’ve had have all gone with Kentucky over Louisville. I had a bunch of ideas for this but I settled on Pioneers to honor Daniel Boone, Abraham Lincoln and Muhammad Ali, who are all pioneers in their own right. Also, QCS is to Charlotte as I am to Louisville, while not my home town, it’s as close as I’ll get, this is the team I’m most excited about.
Miami Hammerheads: A modern twist on Sharks and a unique one found in the waters of the Gulf and the Atlantic.
Milwaukee Imperials: Reusing my AltHL suggestion
Minnesota Ox: I might use this name in my own league but I'm pretty sure I'm aloud to use it here, but if I can't then Legends, referring to the legend of Paul Bunyan and Babe.ProsecutorMilesEdgeworth goes “yoink”.
I have no clue what you could ever refer to...

Interesting. Is there any reason for this? Maybe to avoid alienated people who don't care for Louisville (the college), but then it seems like LVL fans wouldn't like something named for Kentucky.
While I personally think "Louisville" sounds better, I'll definitely default to a local on this. On CCLSC I got into a discussion on this topic and generally came to the conclusion that it works for specific references (Carolina Panthers, Texas Rangers) or to avoid local rivalries (Minnesota), but it doesn't work as well outside of those contexts.
Honestly I can't say for certain, but Kentucky as a state, at least to me, feels much more united than other cities, we're not southern, were not northern, were not Louisville or Lexington, we're Kentucky. Unlike New York, or LA or Chicago, or even cities like Charlotte which is more comparable to Louisville, Louisville doesn't have its own culture as much as Kentucky has its own culture. I think that makes sense. Kentucky as a place is also much more recognizable throughout the world. Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Bourbon, Kentucky Fried Chicken, (I know this is specified to UK but the amount of UK fans compared to Louisville in the rest of the state is crazy, there's probably UK fans throughout the rest of the state by far) and Kentucky Basketball. Louisville isn't as well known as Kentucky isHuh, interesting. I've never been to Louisville (though I have been to Mammoth Cave, an awesome experience and I even stayed in the concrete wigwams nearby) but Kentucky does occupy a strange space on the map. I have a hard time grouping it with the Great Lakes, but it's not quite Southern like Tennessee or North Carolina. It's not even Mid-Atlantic like Virginia is, it just kinda occupies the space there. Very interesting, I'd like to check Louisville out if I ever get the chance.

Hahaha, this made me laugh out loud.
Louisville is a great city, but maybe it's personal bias since I've lived here before, but Lexington is a prettier city, and is probably more representative of the state as a whole. I also just know more about Lex so maybe that's it too. But Keenland, the Horse Park, the distillery district, downtown, Lexington has got a lot to offer. Then again so does all of KY. PM if you're actually interested in learning more, I'd be happy to show you some neat spots that would be fun to visit.

Kansas City Railers: References the history of train transportation in Kansas City, MO.
LA Mission: Spanish friars trying to evangelise the Native Americans in modern-day California.
Kentucky Chicken: Good Ol' KFC is right there in Kentucky.
Miami Magic: That city is nicknamed 'magic city'. This came from an advert made by E.V. Blackman, who was hired to attract tourists from the Northern part of the US by writing good things about Miami (despite the fact that it is nothing but mangroves and mosquitos). Another origin is that their growth was so high, people said it was like 'magic'.
Milwaukee Bikers: Harley Davidson is based on Milwaukee, WI.
Minnesota Perfectors: 'Mr Perfect' Curt Hening hails from Robbinsdale, MI.

Kansas City Scarecrows : In many fields, it was common to see a man made of burlap and old clothes protecting the crops
Los Angeles Mammoths : Los Angeles is the home of the La Brea Tar Pits, in which wolves, smilodons and mammoths have been found
Kentucky Colonels : Although able to be tied to KFC, I'm looking more toward the officers in the Civil War.
Miami Neptunes : I wanted to go Flamingos, but with that being nominated, I wanted another option. Neptune is the Roman name of Poseidon, god of the sea. Miami is on the ocean, so seems like they'd want the blessings of the sea.
Wisconsin Knights : Something more generic for Milwaukee. Lots of recommendations for things associated with beer making or motorcycles. A person from Wisconsin is a Wisconsinite. This is just a bit of word play associated with it that would have a knight for imagery, a strong option.
Minnesota Caribous : I don't want to just pick Minneapolis with St. Paul right there. Caribous would just be a neat name that you could use.

Feel like I'm on my naming game today:
Kansas City: Rawhides- Western/cattle influence I've always enjoyed for KC.
LA: Fire Eaters- Think AAF's Arizona Hotshots, named for the people who battle relentless California wild fires and, yes, I like using LA instead of Los Angeles.
Louisville: Thundercolts- Wanted to do something different, this fuses the annual Thunder over Louisville event with Kentucky derby/Pegasus statue influence.
Miami: Sharptooths- I like the use of sharks but I never like just naming it Sharks or after a breed of sharks, Sharptooths would be created after- you guessed it- the sharp teeth of the ocean's apex predators.
Milwaukee: Hopps- Reusing my AltHL suggestion since it came in second, brewing industry nod.
Minnesota: Leviathans- Vikings culture with sea monsters, Minnesota is also the land of the lakes so I'm sure there's been a tale or two spun about a lake creature.

LA Mammoths are OK, there is a Mammoth Mountain nearby. LA has real fire eaters too! haha
Miami Neptunes is cool, could have an interesting color mix of neon and beach tones. Bright teal and sand?

That'd be awesome! I'm not able to travel too often but Kentucky is one of the places I want to explore.

I don’t know how long this is open for so I’ll give one now and try to give the rest later when I have time to think and the schedule isn’t so packed.
I love the idea of naming a team in LA after the La Brea Tar Pits but I have two trains of thought that I love so please help me with my submission.
The first is LA Tar Cats which is the simple but fun and I feel unique take on it.
My other option is the LA Brea Cats. Hear me out here. It’s a play on of the city and the actual tar pit name and I think it does something close to what Penn St does with the Nittany Lions, which I’m pretty sure is just the name of the mountain near the school (don’t quote me on it).
If the second is too much of a stretch I think the first would be a simple name turned LA and gives plenty of opportunity for a tar color team.
