Summer 1989

NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle has appointed longtime Cowboys executive Tex Schramm to helm the World League, a proposed springtime venture which is expected to kickoff in the spring of 1991.

Dan Rooney (Chairman of the Board; Pittsburgh Steelers)
Ralph C. Wilson, Jr (Founder; Buffalo Bills)
Carmen Policy (Executive; San Francisco 49ers)
Al Davis (Head of Da Raidaz)
Lamar Hunt (Founder; Kansas City Chiefs)
Mike Lynn (Former Minnesota Vikings executive)
Tom Benson (Chairman of the Board; New Orleans Saints)

The World League fielded twelve teams in 1991. A year later, Barcelona and Portland came in to the league through expansion.
