What a thriller! Chicago managed to outwork Toronto's defense and win this one 6-5. Chicago sets history as being the first team win the championship in North America's first professional lacrosse league.

Chase Wildgoose from Chicago was named the player of the game.

The trophy will be brought over and displayed at the Cardinal Grounds and will have "1970 - Chicago Cardinals LC" engraved in it.

The excitement for season 2 is unbearable. Who do you think will be crowned champion in the 1971 season?

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

1970 Offseason Meetings
Manhattan, New York

-Detroit Jackals
The stands at the Jackals Sports Complex had collapsed, leaving the stadium in ruin. The other owners gave Cliff till the 1971 Preseason Meetings to find a new home or his team would be removed from the league.

Cliff later revealed that he had been in talks with a couple cities. Those being:
Ann Arbor, MI
Columbus, OH
Grand Rapids, MI
Pittsburgh, PA
Windsor, ON

All of these cities had a viable stadium or a temporary stadium that could be used while the situation is finally leveled out.

The Jackals are still on very thin ice with the league. If they don't figure anything out it could be game over for Cliff and his Jackals.

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

The Detroit Jackals Situation
Cliff Sorbert walked up to the podium in front of the fellow owners. The plan was to discuss which city he had decided to move to since building a new stadium was out of the question.

"Evening gentlemen..." Cliff said

Everyone else just starred at Cliff dead in the eye. They were not here for any monkey business and did not want to deal with anymore of Cliff's shenanigans.

Cliff went down his list:
Ann Arbor: While a great town to move to, Ann Arbor wanted nothing to do with a pro sports team. They always opted to support local Ann Arbor College.

Columbus: Immediately when Cliff went for a visit, he was ran out by another owner who was trying to get his team in the league. So that removed Columbus.

Grand Rapids: Similarly to Ann Arbor, they generally chose to support their local colleges.

Pittsburgh: The proposal would have them sharing River Stadium which was home to the local football team. The owner did not want to share the stadium with anyone and told Cliff to please leave the city.

Windsor: The City of Windsor flat out declined Cliff's proposal. Without giving Cliff anytime to speak.

"What now?" Simon said.

"I'm glad you asked!" Said Cliff

Cliff finally uttered a smile and looked at his fellow owners... and said "The Jackals are off to Denver!"

The other owners looked at each other with looks of shock on their face.

Do you think this will work out for the Jackals?

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

That's a bold strategy, let's see if it works out.

Quite the chaotic offseason for the Jackals, I do appreciate a little stadium destruction. Love the owners just not having it with Cliff and sending him out to the mountains.

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

Well... here we are. We are at the point in Cliff's career where he really needs to save himself. He really put all his eggs into one basket with this move. The closest team nearby is St. Louis.

Cliff loves his Jackals branding and would never abandon it, so he just kept the name. Just like Detroit it has nothing to do with Denver or Colorado as a whole. But, Cliff didn't give a flying hoot. Cliff even kept the same jerseys and just changed "Detroit" to "Colorado" on the jerseys.

The team will play at what is known as the Denver Ballpark. It seats around 10,000 with a little change. Keeping with the bad stadium theme, it isn't converted to host lacrosse very well, so Cliff has to pull a few strings to get the field ready. Cliff shares the stadium with the Denver Bears baseball team.

Despite all the downside. Cliff had managed to market the team well and the city is surprisingly excited for a new sport. They did welcome the team in open arms. Cliff promised the city that they will love him and the team...

Do you think Cliff will succeed in Denver?

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

On the bright side, the Jackals logo kinda resembles a mountain, so that's a nice coincidence.

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

1971 Pre-Season Meetings
Chicago, Illinois

-Scheduling
The league would retain the same scheduling format from the previous season.

-Cross-Division Assignments
With the Jackals move to Denver, the Eastern teams were dreading who would have the home and home with Colorado. But the Simon promised that it would be done efficiently. The only two teams safe were Manhattan since they always play Chicago and Golden Horseshoe since they played Detroit the previous season.

The matchups were once again "randomly" drawn, as follows:

Chicago-Manhattan
Cleveland-Golden Horseshoe
Colorado-Toronto
Louisville-Philadelphia
St. Louis-Boston

Following the schedule reveal, Louisville owner, Trent Duff commented on the "mysterious man" sitting in the back.

"Oh that's my buddy Crate" Cliff said with a smile on his face. "He said was interested in a team".

Simon walked towards Crate and reached out his hand, "So... Crate... which city were you interested in bringing a team to".

Crate looked at Simon and just uttered one word, "Midwest". Crate quickly scurried out the door.

"Cliff... wh... where do you find these people?" Trent said.

"Oh, you know, around" Cliff answered.

The rest of the owners looked at Cliff with confused looks. "That's our Cliff!" said Adrian, the Thunderbirds owner.
