Have a feeling Boston will repeat as champions but Louisville looks like the best team going in, Ottawa I have a feeling will rebound. For now I have The Independents over the Thunder in the title game.

I think my Gold Stars could overachieve a bit and possibly steal a division title from Boston, but I don't know if I have the same faith in them to go far in the postseason. I think it will be a Boston and Lousiville matchup in the championship game with the Thunder taking home the McCallister Cup.

Buffalo makes a playoff run and becomes the Wild Wings. I think. Precognition is hard.

This honestly seems like Louisville's title to lose. I don't see them losing to anyone in the playoffs, but if anyone can do it, I hope it's Providence.

1962 Week 1
Boston Independents - 17, Providence Gold Stars - 19 - Richardson Stadium - June 21, 1962 - 7 PM ET - Kickoff - Weather: Partly Cloudy
1st Q
3-0 BOS - FG K Johnnie Berg
3-3 PRO - FG K Ira Foster

4th Q
10-19 PRO - RTD RB Marcus Devonshire
17-19 BOS - PTD QB Nathaniel Braddock -> WR Paul Franklin
The Gold Stars opened up their season by spoiling the Independents season opener.
O’Rourke led the team to a pair of TDs in the second half with help from a DB Neville Falkner interception.
Boston had a strong first half, but the offence sputtered in the second and a pair of turnovers allowed the Gold Stars to build their 9-point lead.
Braddock tried to will the team back to a win with a late touchdown, but it was not enough to top their rivals.
Indiana Victors - 17, London Tigers - 23 - Victory Stadium - June 22, 1962 - 7 PM ET - FNF - Weather: Clear

14-20 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Max Sutton
4th Q
14-23 LDN - FG K Nimrod Handsworth
17-23 IND - FG K Ross Poindexter
The Victors gave the Tigers a fight in the season opener with Stanley Troyer being a little more confident behind the new look OL.
He threw a touchdown while RB Cody Barnes took in his first as a Victor.
However, the Tigers ultimately played better with Kiernan throwing a pair of TDs to WR Max Sutton.
The defence was still able to get to Troyer in the backfield with DL Richard Blunt getting a forced fumble and DL Olympus Heights grabbing a sack.
The team did suffer a major loss with an injury to captain LB Aengus Lynch which will leave him out for about half the season.
Louisville Thunder - 31, Buffalo Blue Wings - 14 - Thunder Stadium - June 23, 1962 - 3 PM ET - Weather: Clear

The Thunder came out firing on all cylinders on defence getting a pair of turnovers in the opening quarter.
DB Alexander Bradley got a pick and LB Scotty Williams had a forced fumble.
Buffalo would recover in the second, but the Thunder offence turned up the heat behind RB Johnnie Stafford, who was in relief for RB Rodney Clark.
Lemieux had a late touchdown, but the Thunder were giving in and held on for their first win of the season.

21-24 LI - 2PT RB Dareion Fields
21-27 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
28-27 MTL - PTD QB Gene Bishop -> WR Derek Cross
The Raiders were slow out of the gate with their new coaching staff, but they seemed to click a bit in the second half and got out to a 27-21 lead.
RB Dareion Fields had a strong game with a touchdown and 112 rushing yards.
In contrast, the Rouge started the game really strong before the Raiders were able to claw their way back into the game.
QB Gene Bishop would lead the team on a strong final drive in order to take back the lead with only a minute to go in the game.

28-39 ATH - RTD RB Stavros Black
The Royals got a wake-up call early when WR Tony Albano took home the opening kickoff for a touchdown.
Following the early score, the offence would kick into high gear to put up 25 unanswered points.
QB Jean Matieau would have a strong 3 touchdown performance in the win, and rookie RB Corbyn Knight would score as well in the 4th breaking loose on a 2nd and 2 from 18 yards out.
The Athletics would keep themselves in the game and had a surprising amount of competence on offence behind QB Caldwell Higgins III.
RB Stavros Black would be a key contributor, scoring his first as an Athletic, and DB Joe Robinson got in on the scoring with a pick-6.

Great win over Boston to start the season! Glad we escaped injuries for this week as well, always a scary thing. Love to see my guy Karis getting not just reps but TDs for the Rouge, hopefully we could see a POTW from him.

Great win for Montreal. Glad to see Lemieux throwing touchdown passes even if Buffalo lost.

1962 Week 2
London Tigers - 10, Louisville Thunder - 14 - Western Fair Stadium - June 28, 1962 - 7 PM ET - TNF - Weather: Rain

3rd Q

4th Q
10-7 LDN - RTD RB Clifford Russell
10-14 LOU - RTD RB Johnnie Stafford
The rain in London led to quite a sloppy game between the two West Division favourites.
Only K Nimrod Handsworth was able to break the silence in the 2nd quarter after a first-half that was filled with fumbles.
London got a pair from DL Dee Floyd and LB Dallas Dillard and Louisville grabbed on from LB Calvin Hardy.
RB Johnnie Stafford would come through in the second half with a pair of touchdowns which was assisted by a late DL Bjorn Sigmarsson forced fumble to give Louisville the ball in Tigers’ territory.
The Athletics - 10, Boston Independents - 23 - Bayside Park (in Portland, ME) - June 29, 1962 - FNF - Weather: Clear

Boston got into the win column in Portland, ME with Braddock and Morgan leading the way on offence.
Several injuries hindered the team, but they would manage to pull through against the lowly Athletics.
The Athletics did have some fight in them in the second half with RB Stavros Black leading the way.

The Gold Stars lit up the Victors in their home opener to improve to 2-0 with QB Connor O’Rourke throwing 3 touchdowns in the win.
DB Neville Falkner kept up his dominant ways with an interception which he naturally took back for a touchdown.
DB Cameron Taylor had a pick and LB Rusty McVee had a forced fumble for the Gold Stars as well.
The Victors still got a forced fumble from LB Harrison Bennett which helped RB Don Gregson find the endzone a few plays later.
Buffalo Blue Wings - 38, Long Island Raiders - 24 - Buffalo Civic Stadium - June 30, 1962 - 7 PM ET - SNF - Weather: Partly Cloudy

4th Q

The Blue Wings fired back after their loss to the Thunder with a 38-point performance against the Raiders.
WR Zachariah Pembroke looked a lot more comfortable in his second game with the team, scoring a touchdown in the first quarter.
The Raiders would have a strong 3rd quarter but fell apart in the 4th after their 4 injuries started to affect the team.
DL Lonnie Vincent took advantage and got a forced fumble and a sack for the Blue Wings, the fumble leading to Jimmy Golden scoring another touchdown.

The Royals celebrated Canada Day with a huge win over their rivals.
QB Jean Matieau had a strong game leading the Royals with a pair of touchdowns and fairly consistent play all around.
Montreal seems to have lost their touch in the first few games, which was not helped by WR Derek Cross going down in the opening quarter.
DB Mingan Oliver had a pick for the Royals and DL Olaf Viktorsson was able to get to QB Gene Bishop a couple of times.
The Royals look like they're back up to speed so far with a strong win here.

Pretty cool seeing one of my players finally get mentioned in the recaps (even if it is the kicker lmao). Great writeups, and good to see Boston in the win column! Not that I expected them to lose to proto-Halifax, but hey, a win's a win.

Welp, the Rouge tried all they could, hope they bounce back next week. At least my boy Charles Lemieux got himself a second OPOTW so that's good to see
