DB Mingan Oliver came through with strong play as well, reeling in an interception on the day.
Boston was in control for a while, but after WR Ellis Lindholm left the game and the Royals’ defence found some solid ground, it was tougher to stay ahead.

Louisville’s secondary was having a good day with S Johnny Berger and DB Alexander Bradley both grabbing picks off of QB Riley Kiernan which helped the Thunder score both of their touchdowns.
RB Clifford Russell ended up being the key for the Tigers as he was able to get through the Thunder front 7 and score a pair of TDs.

An offensive duel on Saturday night ended with the Rouge grabbing their first win of the season.
The Blue Wings showed a lot of fight in this game especially with DL Lonnie Vincent grabbing a forced fumble and S Frazier Brooks getting a pick to set up some scores.
QB Angelo Medina showed his case for being a viable QB in the NAAF still helping the team to a 31 point day.
QB Stanislav Ovechkin also fought for his job today putting in a pair of TD passes and 265 Passing Yards.
Mallard-White and DB Quentin Xavier were the other notable players for the rouge with Mallard-White scoring 2-times and Xavier grabbing a pick.
RB Jimmy Golden got a 2-point convert for the Blue Wings in some of his first action, and Pierre LeStrange finally scored his first TD as a member of his hometown Rouge.

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

1960 Week 2

Ottawa Royals - 38, London Tigers - 35 - Royals Stadium at Brewer Park - July 1, 1960 - 5 PM ET - Canada Day - Weather: Clear
1st Q
7-0 OTT - PTD QB Jean Matieau -> WR Mackenzie Jones
7-7 LDN - RTD RB Clifford Russell
14-7 OTT - PTD QB Jean Matieau -> WR Chester Bennett
2nd Q
14-10 LDN - FG K Nimrod Handsworth
21-10 OTT - RTD RB Alexei Volkov
21-13 LDN - FG K Nimrod Handsworth
3rd Q
21-19 LDN - RTD RB Don Gregson
21-21 LDN - 2PT QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Benedict Spencer
28-21 OTT - PTD QB Jean Maiteau -> TE Jervonte Howell
28-28 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Max Sutton
4th Q
31-28 OTT - FG K Maurice Lafayette
31-35 LDN - PTD QB Riley Kiernan -> WR Max Sutton
38-35 OTT - PTD QB Jean Matieau -> WR Mackenzie Jones

A shootout in Ottawa ended with the Royals getting a late touchdown win on a WR Mackenzie Jones touchdown. Both teams had some turnovers with DL Richard Blunt grabbing a forced fumble and DB Jackson Miles grabbing a pick for London, and DB Petr Westerberg and LB Killian Reed grabbing a pick and fumble each respectively. The tough blow for the Tigers was losing RB Clifford Russell in the first half, but RB Don Gregson was able to make up for the absence.

Indiana Victors - 7, Buffalo Blue Wings - 16 - Victory Stadium - July 2, 1960 - 4 PM ET - Weather: Cloudy
1st Q
7-0 IND - RTD RB Rodney Clark
2nd Q
7-6 BUF - RTD RB Johnnie Stafford
3rd Q
4th Q
7-9 BUF - FG K Donald Brewer
7-16 BUF - DTD INT DB Lou Lake

It was an ugly game in Indiana where neither offence could get much going, and 2-and-outs were fairly consistent.
Buffalo would put the dagger in the victors off of a Lou Lake pick-6, which was his second pick of the game.
Indiana’s offence seemingly shut down after a strong first quarter and was unable to move the ball at all.
DL William Sanderson did have a forced fumble for the Victors as a bright spot for the defence.

Long Island Raiders - 15, Louisville Thunder - 24 - Long Island Stadium - July 2, 1960 - 7 PM ET - SNF - Weather: Cloudy
1st Q
3-0 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
2nd Q
3-7 LOU - PTD QB Leonidas Dumont -> WR Ben Roland
6-7 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
3rd Q
6-14 LOU - RTD RB Stavros Black
12-14 LI - RTD RB Conner Riley
4th Q
12-21 LOU - DTD INT DB Alexander Bradley
15-21 LI - FG K Henderson Schumacher
15-24 LOU - FG K Theodore Provost

The Thunder came away with a huge win on the road over the Long Island Raiders.
The Raiders lost RB Dareion Fields to a major injury during the first quarter which hurt the team immensely and allowed the Thunder to force the pass.
Louisville would bring in two interceptions including a pick-6 with Lyle Painter needing to throw the ball more.
Conner Riley did what he could in the starting role, but with Fields going down the Raiders were scrambling to get back in control and just never could.

Providence Gold Stars - 17, Montreal Rouge - 22 - New Providence Stadium - July 3, 1960 - 2 PM ET - Weather: Partly Cloudy
1st Q
3-0 PRO - FG K Ira Foster
3-3 MTL - FG K Arthur Kettinger
2nd Q
3-10 MTL - RTD RB Scott Mallard-White
3rd Q
3-13 MTL - FG K Arthur Kettinger
10-13 PRO - PTD QB Connor O’Rourke -> WR Cedric Peterson
10-16 MTL - FG K Arthur Kettinger
4th Q
17-16 PRO - RTD RB Marcus Devonshire
17-22 MTL - PTD QB Stanislav Ovechkin -> WR Fredrick St. Pierre

Providence’s offence finally found themselves moving the ball in the second half, but Ovechkin and the Rouge were able to construct an excellent drive to clinch the game for the Rouge.
Montreal’s defence was strong in the first half with DL Zakary Turbide getting a forced fumble and DB Quentin Xavier reeling in a pick.
Providence got their own forced fumble from DL Calias McDonough as well.
Montreal’s win gives them their first 2-0 start since 1952.

Boston Independents - 25, Worcester Athletics - 27 - Richardson Stadium - July 4, 1960 - 5 PM ET - 4th of July - Weather: Clear
1st Q
3-0 BOS - FG K Johnie Berg
2nd Q
3-3 WOR - FG K Elvis Franklin
10-3 BOS - PTD QB Nathaniel Braddock -> WR Clyde McIntosh
10-10 WOR - PTD QB Gene Bishop -> WR Joshua Lafleur
3rd Q
10-17 WOR - RTD QB Gene Bishop
13-17 BOS - FG K Johnnie Berg
13-24 WOR - PTD QB Gene Bishop -> WR Zachariah Pembroke
4th Q
19-24 BOS - RTD RB Kendall Morgan
25-24 BOS - PTD QB Nathaniel Braddock -> WR Paul Franklin
25-27 WOR - FG K Elvis Franklin

The Braddock-Bishop rivalry finally got to see an excellent game.
Gene Bishop would get the hot start and give the Athletics a 24-13 lead heading into the final quarter on the back of LB Scotty Williams getting a huge forced fumble Boston territory.
Nathaniel Braddock was able to get the Independents right back into the game with back-to-back touchdowns, however, they were unable to convert on the 2-point tries.
Boston’s defence seemed to be locking down the Athletics, but DB Mario Richard would make a late mistake.
WR Trig Jegmen got into the head of Richard and on the deep route, he forced a roughing penalty that put Worcester into field goal range, where the Athletics would clinch the win.

Re: North American Association of Football - NAAF

Losing Fields for the next 12 weeks is a huge blow for LI and is definitely a cause for some concern here early. Also was not expecting to see Worcester at 2-0 and Boston at 0-2

What a surpirse to see the Athletics at 2-0 and Boston at 0-2 to quote Captain Mort. Also, what do other sports look like in this universe? Baseball, Hockey, etc. Just curious.

I have no clue what the other sports look like, I have not thought about that, but I can imagine something similar in the sense of multiple leagues in each sport. The only confirmed team is the Ottawa Stars hockey team which commissioner Ryan Jameson played for before starting the NAAF.

I am going to say no, I have no interest in investing time into the rest of the universe, I will mention other things if they become important to the story, but leave that to me. I appreciate you guys want to help, but I just want to tell the story I want to tell so I'll just keep the focus on the NAAF and related leagues.
